Abstract

This Study on the Sergei Prokofiev’s Cello Sonata Op.119 with a background of his life. S.Prokofiev is a composer who has declared his return to classics, breaking away from modernism as a neoclassical musician. He has a different style of experimentation than his own. Among many songs, the subject of this thesis, the S.Prokofiev <Cello Sonata Op.119> is a piece for cello and piano, written in his last life. In this thesis, I try to analyze and investigate the characteristics of this Sonata form and the composition technique of Prokofiev. S.Prokofiev’s <Cello Sonata op.119>is one of S.Prokofiev’s three masterpieces, along with <Symphony No.7>, which shows the superiority of non-verbal and non-visual expression of musical arts. I think it is the intention of the composer to try to contrast with the lowest and highest notes of the cello, or to try to listen to the cellist's unique method of playing in the first movement. Also, this is a song that shows the composer's liveliness and humor in the way that the cello gives the highest note that can be produced and the composer arranges a tapping of different feeling from the 1st movement to the 3rd movement. This is a classic Sonatas, with the Sonata of the first movement, the compound third movement of the second movement, and the Sonata of the third movement, but unlike the classical movement of fast-slow-fast, The tempo is in a form that speeds up. Also, you can also see that the tempo and composition change freely and move. The first theme of the first movement is recalled in Coda of the third movement, which has a form of circulation that makes the whole movement feel like a movement, and through this it shows unity. Composite structures in which short motives and topics are simultaneously developed in the theme melody is a more advanced compositional technique in the way of other classical composers. The composition of the instrument that fulfills the role of each other by the cognition process is the composer Prokofiev uses the colorful and drastic piano method as a pianist, and this appearance also appears as various state law in the cello.;세르게이 프로코피에프(Sergei Prokofiev)는 전통과 혁신의 다리 역할을 한 신고전파 작곡가이자 20세기를 대표하는 작곡가이다. 그는 어릴 때부터 타고난 재능을 가지고 있었고 이후 러시아 혁명과 세계 대전의 상황 속에서도 러시아 음악의 혁신에 힘쓰며 여러 작품들을 남겼다. 그는 피아노협주곡을 많이 작곡하였지만 현악기를 위한 협주곡으로 바이올린 협주곡 2곡, 첼로협주곡 3곡을 남겼다. 본 논문에서 연구할 프로코피에프의 <첼로소나타 Op.119>는 그의 말년에 작곡된 곡으로 그가 작곡한 유일한 첼로소나타이다. 1948년부터 소련으로부터 형식주의적 경향을 갖는 작곡가로 핍박 받기 시작하였고 건강 또한 악화되어 작곡 활동이 힘들어졌다. 이 곡은 환자인 그에게 허용되는 몇 시간의 시간동안 완성되어진 곡이며 당대 최고의 첼리스트였던 므스티슬라프 로스트로포비치(Mstislav Rostropovich)의 조언을 받아 작곡하였다. 이 곡에는 첼리스트의 다양한 테크닉적 요소와 작곡가의 음악적 요소가 잘 어우러져있으며 풍부한 선율과 첼로의 넓은 음역과 색채, 피아노와의 대화체로 진행되는 특징을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 프로코피에프의 생에와 작품세계 그리고 프로코피에프 생애 마지막에 작곡된 <첼로 소나타 Op.119>를 분석해보고자 한다.
