중학교『역사』의 ‘홍경래의 난’ 수업 방안 연구

Abstract

Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion, the representative political rebellion in the late Joseon Dynasty, was a result of the harsh exploitation of the dominance of Royal In-Law Families, but a more fundamental reason was the discrimination against the Pyeongan province. The discrimination against the people of the Pyeongan province since the early Joseon Dynasty, the resulting restriction in government offices, and the financial control imposed by the central government in spite of the economic development of the Pyeongan province in the late Joseon Dynasty were indicative of Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion. Understanding the background of the Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion begins first of all begins with understanding the history of the Pyeongan province. However, the description of the historical background of the Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion in the textbooks used in the field of education did not reflect the regional characteristics of the Pyeongan province. Based on the forementioned problems, the study was designed to prepare a lecture plan for the Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion that reflected the distinct characteristics of the Pyeongan province. To this end, the academic research on the Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion was focused on the ‘background and cause’, ‘the process of deployment’, and ‘influence and significance’. In addition, the 2009 revised middle school history curriculum were analyzed and the three textbooks, which were written based on the curriculum of history, were analyzed by‘background and cause’, ‘the process of deployment’ and ‘influence and significance’. Based on the analysis, improvement points were prepared to set the learning objective for the study of this class plan and produced the teaching plan, activity sheets, and class PPT. This study has significance in understanding the background of the Hong Gyeongnae Rebellion by learning about the regional discrimination against the Pyeongan province and economic control, which was not shown well in the context of the dominance of Royal In-Law Families. It is also significant that the students can find out about the regional background of the Pyeongan province by independently analyzing historical data, including historical records.;조선 후기의 대표적인 정치적 변란인 ‘홍경래의 난’은 세도 정치의 가혹한 수탈을 그 배경으로 볼 수 있으나 더 근본적인 배경은 평안도에 대한 지역 차별이었다. 조선 초기부터 존재한 평안도인에 대한 차별과 그로 인한 관직 진출에서의 제한 그리고 조선 후기에 평안도의 경제 발달에도 불구하고 중앙이 가한 재정 통제는 홍경래의 난을 예고하는 것이었다. 홍경래의 난이 일어나게 된 배경을 이해하는 것은 무엇보다 평안도 지역이 겪어온 역사를 이해하는 것에서부터 시작된다. 그러나 교육현장에서 사용되는 교과서의 홍경래의 난 배경 서술은 이러한 평안도의 지역적 특성을 제대로 반영하지 못하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 평안도 지역의 특수성을 반영한 홍경래의 난 수업 방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 홍경래의 난에 대한 학계의 연구를 ‘배경·원인’, ‘전개과정’, ‘영향·의의’를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 2009 개정 중학교 『역사』교육과과정을 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 집필된 교과서 3종을 ‘배경·원인’, ‘전개과정’, ‘영향·의의’로 나누어 분석하였다. 분석을 토대로 개선점을 마련하여 본 수업 방안의 학습 목표를 설정하고 교수·학습 지도안, 활동지, 수업 PPT를 제작하였다. 본 연구는 세도 정치 시기라는 배경 속에서 잘 드러나지 않았던 평안도에 대한 지역적 차별과 경제적 통제를 학습함으로써 홍경래의 난의 배경을 깊이 이해하는 데 의의가 있다. 또한 학습 내용을 학생들이 스스로 사료를 비롯한 역사 자료를 분석함으로써 평안도의 지역적 배경을 파악한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
