노래 감상 시 대학생이 인식하는 가사의 비중과 역할

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 감상자가 가사를 어떻게 인지하고 그것이 음악 감상행동에 어떻게 기여하는지를 조사하는 것이다. 본 연구에는 179명의 대학생들이 음악감상 행동과 노래 가사 및 역할에 대한 인식조사에 참여하였으며, 불완전한 응답을 제외한 분석에는 총 167개의 응답이 포함되었다. 분석결과, 대학생들의 하루 평균 음악감상 시간은 3시간 이상으로 높게 나타났으며, 기분전환이 필요할 때 주로 음악 감상의 필요를 느꼈다. 전체 응답자의 89.2%가 노래 감상 시 가사를 고려하는 것으로 나타났으며, 가사의 비중은 5점 척도에서 평균 4.09점으로 높게 측정되었다. 이 때 노래 감상시간과 가사비중의 관계가 유의하게 나타나진 않았으나 이들 대부분은 가사를 통해 공감과 위로를 얻는다고 보고되었다. 또한 응답자 대부분은 사랑, 인생, 이별을 주제로 한 노래를 감상하였으며, 특히 슬프거나 우울한 상태에서 노래가사를 고려하는 비중이 더 높게 나타났다. 이 때 성별의 차이가 나타났는데, 남성은 복잡한 생각, 걱정, 불안이 있을 때나 좌절감을 느낄 때가 높았으나 여성의 경우는 슬프고 우울할 때나 기쁘고 행복할 때와 같은 정서 상태에서 높게 나타났다. 이러한 가사 비중에 대한 성별 차이는 걱정과 불안이 있을 때만 유의한 결과를 보였다. 또한 주로 감상하는 노래의 주제 및 가사의 역할은 성인 초기인 대학생들의 심리 정서적 특성과 관련이 있다. 감상자는 노래 가사를 통해 높은 위로와 공감을 얻을 수 있으며, 특히 슬픈 감정이나 심리적으로 어려운 상태일 경우 가사를 중요하게 인식하였다. 이러한 결과는 가사가 음악 감상과 노래 선택에서 중요한 요인임을 시사한다. 또한 노래감상 행동은 인지와 심리적 수준에 긍정적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있으며 일상 생활뿐만 아니라 치료목적으로도 활용될 수 있다.;The aim of this study was to investigate how listeners perceive lyrics of songs and how it contributes to music selection behaviors for music listening. 167 university students participated in a survey on their music listening behavior and perception of song lyrics and their roles. Excluding incomplete responses, a total of 167 responses were included for analysis. The results show that most respondents answered daily average music listening time as 3 hours or longer and needs for music listening for diverting mood. Majority of the respondents (89.2%) considered song lyrics for song listening, in which the perceived degree of considering of lyrics was rated in average 4.09 on a 5-point Likert scale. The relationship between music listening time and the degree of considering lyrics was not significant. Most respondents answered that they obtain sympathy and consolation through lyrics, and the theme of songs rated highest included love, life, and partings. In terms of emotional state, majority of the respondents answered that they consider lyrics the most when they feel sad or depressed and consider lyrics the least when happy. Difference between genders were shown in degree of considering lyrics for song listening, in which male respondents considered lyrics the most when feeling worried, nervous, lonely, and frustrated or having too many thoughts, while female respondents considered lyrics the most when feeling sad, depressed, and happy. There was a significant difference between gender in degree of considering lyrics when feeling worried and nervous. The results imply that the theme of songs and perceived role of lyrics for song listening are related to psychological and emotional characters of the listeners. Specifically, listeners consider song lyrics highly when they feel sad and have psychological difficulties and obtain sympathy and consolation through song lyrics. The results suggest that lyrics are an important factor in music listening and selection behavior, which can positively affect the listener on cognitive and psychological levels and may be utilized not only in everyday life but also for therapeutic purposes.
