교내 국악 동아리 활동 경험 학생들의 국악 흥미도와 교육효과 조사

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 중학교 교내 국악 동아리 활동 경험이 있는 학생들의 국악 흥미도와 국악 교육 효과를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울특별시 구로구 소재의 A 중학교 국악 동아리 학생 38명, 서울특별시 강남구 소재 B 중학교 국악 동아리 학생 13명. 경기도 용인시 기흥구 소재의 C 중학교 국악 동아리 학생 23명, 경기도 용인시 처인구 소재 D 중학교 국악 동아리 학생 30명을 직접 학교에 방문하여 조사하였고, 인터넷을 이용하여 중학교 교내 국악 동아리를 경험하고 있는 중학생 16명을 섭외해서 총 120개의 설문지 중 변별력이 없는 응답지를 제외한 114개의 설문지가 분석에 포함되었다. 학생들이 경험하고 있는 국악 동아리 세부종류는 국악 기악 동아리, 국악 관현악 동아리, 국악 사물놀이 동아리 그리고 기타 국악 동아리로 북 공연 동아리를 경험하고 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중학교 교내 국악 동아리 활동을 하는 학생들의 국악흥미도와 교육적 효과는 성별에 따라서 차이를 보이지 않았다. 국악 동아리 경험 학생의 성별에 따른 교육적 효과는 전체적으로 여학생이 남학생보다 높게 나타났지만 유의한 차이를 보이지 않아 국악 동아리 활동 학생들의 성별이 교육적 효과에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 국악 동아리 활동 종류에 따라서 국악흥미도와 교육적 효과에서 차이를 보였다. 국악흥미도는 국악 기악 동아리가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 사물놀이 동아리, 국악 관현악 동아리, 기타 동아리 순으로 나타났다. 교내 국악 동아리 활동에 따른 교육적 효과는 국악 기악 동아리가 가장 높았고 그 뒤로 사물놀이 동아리, 국악 관현악 동아리, 기타 국악 동아리 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 국악 동아리에 참여한 기간에 따른 국악흥미도와 교육적 효과로는 대체적으로 2년 이상 참여한 학생이 상대적으로 국악흥미도와 교육적 효과가 높게 나타났다. 넷째, 교내 국악 동아리에 참여하기 이전의 음악경험은 국악흥미도와 교육적 효과 모두 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 국악흥미도와 교육적 효과의 상관관계를 분석했을 때 동아리 활동을 통해 국악흥미도가 높은 학생들이 국악에 대한 교육적 효과의 상관관계를 확인하였다. 본 연구는 국악동아리를 통하여 학생들의 국악흥미도와, 국악교육효과가 높아진다는 연구결과를 가지고 동아리활동을 하지 않는 학생들에게도 국악교육을 효과적으로 할 수 있는 방법으로 동아리 학생들의 흥미도와 교육효과가 가장 높았던 국악 기악 활동으로 국악교육을 하면, 우리나라 중학교 학생들이 국악에 대한 관심과 흥미, 교육 효과가 높아질 것을 기대한다. 또한 국악교육을 실시하지 않고 있는 중학교에서 자유학기제, 국악 동아리 활동 등을 활용하여 국악교육이 지속적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 해야 한다. 국악 동아리를 2년 이상 지속적으로 활동한 학생들의 국악흥미도와, 국악 교육의 효과가 높은 결과로 학교에서 학생들에게 지속적으로 국악 교육을 경험할 수 있도록 한다면 학생들은 우리나라의 고유한 음악, 국악에 대한 흥미도와 교육효과가 높아질 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 국악 동아리 활동에 대한 만족도 검사, 국악을 경험한 학생들과 경험하지 못한 학생들과의 국악흥미도 비교, 국악 동아리를 활용한 효과적인 국악 교육 방법에 대한 연구가 더욱 활발히 전개될 것을 기대한다.;The purpose of this research is to identify the level of interest of middle school students who have experience in Korean traditional music club activities in school, and the effectiveness of Korean traditional music education. For this purpose, 38 students from Korean traditional music club in middle school A located in Guro-gu, Seoul; 13 students from middle school B located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul; 23 students from middle school C located in Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do; and 30 students from middle school D located in Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do were visited and researched, and 16 students participating in Korean traditional music club in school were invited via the internet. A total of 120 surveys, yet, dismissing a few random ones, thus, 114 surveys in total were included in the analysis. Some of the types of Korean traditional music clubs that students were experiencing were Gukak instrumental club, Gukak orchestra club, Gukak samulnori club, and other clubs such as drum performance clubs. The results of this research are summarized as follows. First, there was no difference in the level of interest and effectiveness of education of students participating in Korean traditional music clubs in school depending on gender. Female students showed higher rates of educational effectiveness than male students, however, due to lack of significant difference, it turned out that the gender of Korean traditional music club students did not affect the effectiveness of education. Second, there was change in the level of interest and effectiveness of education according to the activities of different Korean traditional music clubs. The level of interest in Korean traditional music came in the order of Gukak instrumental club, samulnori club, Gukak orchestra club, and other clubs. Regarding the effectiveness of education, the Gukak instrumental club was the highest, followed by samulnori club, Gukak orchestra club, and other clubs. Third, regarding the level of interest and effectiveness of education depending on the amount of time of participation in Korean traditional music clubs, it was shown that students who have participated in Korean traditional music clubs for more than two years in general, had relatively higher level of interest and educational effect. Fourth, it was shown that musical experience prior to the participation in Korean traditional music clubs in school had no effect on both the level of interest and the effectiveness of education. Finally, by analyzing the correlation between the level of interest and effectiveness of education, it has been verified that students who have high level of interest through Korean traditional music club activities also have high rate of educational effect. The results show that through Korean traditional music club activities, students’ level of interest became higher and had educational effects. Students who participated in Korean traditional music clubs for more than two years showed high level of interest and educational effect. The schools need to maintain providing constant Korean traditional music education to students for them to receive education and carry out activities. Since the results show that among students involved in Korean traditional music clubs, those participating in instrumental clubs show high level of interest and educational effect, not only Korean traditional music club students, but regular students should also be given one-to-one opportunity to experience and play Korean traditional instruments, hence, expanding the opportunity and expecting higher effectiveness of Korean traditional music education on regular students as well. Based on the results of this research, more active research is to be expected concerning the level of satisfaction of Korean traditional music club activities, the difference in interest levels between students who have and have not experienced Korean traditional music, and effective Korean traditional music education based on Korean traditional music clubs.
