Abstract
Most urologists still think that a fundamental treatment method for the BPH is the TUR. However, a group of urologists and medical engineers have developed a variety of equipments that were designed to cover the demerits of the TUR based on the concept of thermotherapy. Though many of these equipments have already become obsolete, the procedure using laser to ablate the prostate developed in the 1990s has been improved and has become well-known among urologists. We would like to compare the treatment procedures and outcomes of laser ablation of prostate using Nd:YAG laser(VLAP) with those of interstitial laser coagulation of prostate(ILC).
