생명형태의 표현적 특징을 응용한 텍스타일 디자인 연구

Abstract

과거의 세 차례 산업혁명에 이어 최근 'Industry 4.0(4차 산업혁명)'시대에 이르기까지 인간이 자연을 계속 무분별하게 훼손시킨 결과, 자원의 오남용이 심각한 수준에 이르게 되었다. 결국, 환경의 심각성은 물론 자연생명의 소중함에 대한 인식은 점차 감소되었으며, 이로 인해 소중한 자연을 되찾아야 한다는 절실함과 함께 인간의 본능인 자연회귀적 성향은 계속해서 증가하고 있다. 인간은 자연의 생명성을 토대로 한 소재활용의 극대화를 통해 표현하기를 즐겼는데, 이는 인간이 생물학적으로 자연과 연결된 본능적 존재로써 무수한 자연적 대상물들로부터 아름다움을 느끼기 때문이다. 이처럼 무한한 아름다움을 지닌 자연은 본인에게 미의식을 일깨워주는 밑거름이 되어왔다. 이에 가장 좋은 모방의 대상인 생동하는 자연을 모티프(Motif)로 선정하여, 자연이 나타내는 각각의 생명형태의 조형성에 초점을 두어 연구하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 자연형태의 유기적인 질서와 조형적 원리를 적용하였는데, 특히 주변 식물의 조형적 특성을 응용한 모티프의 비정형적인 형상에 대해 추상과 반(反)추상적 관점에서 접근하였고, 자연을 소재로 활용하여 다양한 텍스타일 디자인에 적용가능성을 모색하는데 그 연구의 목적이 있다. 또한, 평소 무심코 보아왔던 식물을 집중 관찰한 결과, 신비하고 경이롭게 느껴진 본래의 형상 그대로 표현하되, 다원화된 시각으로 접근한 후, 연구자 본인의 주관적인 해석과 표현으로 재구성 하였다. 즉, 다양한 식물들과 나무껍질 등을 선정하여 두 가지로 형상화 하였는데 첫째, 식물자체를 클로즈업한 후 추상적으로 형태를 단순화하여 표출하였고, 둘째, 식물의 부분적인 형상과 그것의 여러 가지 유기적 동선을 반추상적으로 해석하였다. 그리고 이 두 가지 표현과 더불어 생명현상 객체들 자체가 지니고 있는 고유의 특징도 함께 작품에 나타내었으며, 각각의 텍스츄어를 그대로 디자인에 시각화 하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 다음과 같이 세 단계로 진행하였다. 첫째, 연구의 배경과 목적을 서술하였고, 연구방법으로는 실제현장에서의 식물형상 탐구와 함께 참고문헌 및 기타 문헌연구 등을 통하여 분석하였다. 둘째, 생명존중사상을 가진 베르그송의 생명론을 살펴본 후 식물에서 나타나는 생명형태의 개념 및 유기적 현상질서와 원리에 대해 고찰하였다. 또한 그로 인해 표현되는 유기적 구조의 특징에 대한 이론적 배경을 탐구하였고, 표현적 특성을 추출하여 유기적인 생명형태의 표현사례에 대해 살펴보았다. 셋째, 앞서 탐구한 내용을 바탕으로 작품을 제작하였으며, 작품디자인은 연구 자의 자연에 대한 주관적 시각과 함께 조형적 형태를 응용하는 과정을 통해 제작 하였다. 소재로는 우리 주위의 식물들의 형상과 조직, 텍스츄어 등을 표현하면서 동시에 비정형적이고 색다른 자연의 미를 표출하고자 하였다. 이와 함께 가장 기 본적인 표현인 점·선·면을 응용하여 이를 변형, 단순화하여 표현한 결과 자연형 태의 본질적인 형상에 대해 탐구하였고, 총 7점의 디자인을 제작할 수 있었다. 본 연구자는 자연유기체의 특성을 연구하면서 그 유기체들이 서로 관계하며 상호연관성을 가지고 소통한다는 현상을 발견할 수 있었고, 이들은 고유의 자유로움 내에서도 스스로의 규칙성을 지닌다는 특징들도 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 이 같은 생(生)들의 표면적 형상은 비정형적이고, 불규칙한 형태를 보이지만, 그들만의 고유한 규칙을 지니고 있다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 이번 연구를 통하여 자연의 생명존중을 바탕으로 한 표현가능성을 제시 하였으며, 현시대 텍스타일 디자이너들이 추구하여야 할 방향성을 제안하고자 하였다. 이에 본 디자인은 홈 퍼니싱(Home Furnishing)및 어패럴분야 뿐만 아니라 다양한 텍스타일 디자인에 적용할 수 있다. 그 동안 자연물은 형태와 구조, 색채 및 질감 등 여러 방면으로 가장 창의적인 디자인 모티프인 관계로 수없이 많은 디자인에 적용되어 왔지만, 향후에도 꾸준히 연구되어야 할 방향이며 중요한 소재이다. 그리하여 트랜드에 영향을 받지 않는 좋은 소재이며 활용하기에 지속가능한 특성을 지닌 자연을 소재로 더욱 다양한 표현방법을 통해 유기체적인 디자인을 다룬 후속연구가 이루어 질 것을 기대한다.;The purpose of the study on the Textile Design, applying the Expressive Characteristics of Life Form. Focusing on life form such as natural shapes and plants in the production of Works. After a long period of three industrial revolutions, the fourth industrial revolution, the 'industry 4.0' era, has arrived. In modern society, the environmental parts have been highlighted more. In the results of thoughtlessly and continuously damaging nature, the abuse of resources has been pretty serious. Eventually, the perception of seriousness of environment and preciousness of natural life was gradually decreased, so that the desperateness to get back precious nature was started increasing. The importance of the naturalistic tendency is also expanding as the human regression pattern of returning to nature increases. Since nature and man have coexisted under one space for a long time, nature, which is inseparable with human beings, is a very important entity in modern times. Thus, we must have an attitude of respect for the most important life phenomena of nature. For this reason, humans enjoyed creating or expressing something based on nature from the past. This is an instinctive reaction of a biologically connected human being, who feels beauty from the object of nature. Because of this, I who am the researcher, will select nature, which is sustainable and best imitated in humans, as a motif and focus on the life form of nature. Therefore, on top of applying the organic order and formative principle of natural form, this study aims to research the informal form patternizing a motif drawn from diverse plants by applying the characteristics of ‘life form’. I tried to express life as the source of mysterious and wonderful nature as it is, but to reconstruct it by subjective interpretation after approaching it from a pluralistic perspective. Namely, various plants such as vegetables and bark were selected through natural observation, and they were formed into two aspects. First, the plant itself was abstracted and simplified after close-up. Second, the plant parts and their various organic forms and fluid flow lines are interpreted semi-abstractly. In addition to these two perspectives, I have shown the features of life forms in my works, and I have visually exposed the textures to the Textile design. For this purpose, the first chapter of this study describes the background and purpose of the study, and the method and contents of the study were analyzed in reference to the natural form exploration in the actual field, as well as references and other literature studies. In second chapter, I defined the concept of ‘Life forms’ and consider 'Theory of life’ which is the basic of 'Respect for Life' written by Henri-Louis Bergson in the way of philosophy. Also, after considering the organic phenomenological order and principle of life form shown in plant, it examined the expression case of organic form by extracting the expressive characteristics of life form. The third chapter explains the background, purpose, and commentary on the production of the work based on the contents of the previous exploration, and explains the production method. In addition to the subjective view of nature of the researcher, the process of application of the formative form was applied. As a design material, I tried to express the atypical and different nature of nature by describing various shapes, textures of natural objects seen from a short distance. In addition to this, I studied the application of point, line, and surface, which are the most basic formative features, and the simplified method of expressing deformations or omissions, and the methodology of new value expressing the characteristics of natural organisms such as enlarged shapes. Finally, in the fourth chapter, I summarize this study. In the process of studying the characteristics of natural organism, the researcher was able to discover a phenomenon that these organisms would communicate with each other based on correlations, and also to know the characteristics that they would have the regularity within the innate unrestrictedness. Therefore, even though the superficial form of these lives looks like informal and irregular, they have their own regulations, in conclusion. Through this research, I tried to propose a new expression possibility for nature while respecting life, and suggest a direction that textile designers should pursue in the present age. Nevertheless, the art created with natural motifs has been applied to numerous designs due to its most creative material in various aspects such as shape, structure, color and texture. Thus, I expect that further research will be done on organic design that expresses sustainable nature in more diverse ways.
