책가도를 응용한 텍스타일 디자인

Abstract

To create a new design using Korean style materials is a target for attention for many researchers. Particularly, we need to pay attention to various movements such as expression of excellent literary value and formative artistic value of the Chaekgado and interest therein, etc., and the application of Korean traditional materials as the Chaekgado is an important factor to maintain cultural competitiveness. Also, the 21st century requires new contents of traditional materials with artistic value and cultural value due to rapid diversification of textile design industry. This research aimed at producing textile design based on Korean traditional the Chaekgado (冊架圖) by newly interpreting it. Also, the research method of this study was to produce a work based on the relevant literature research for theoretical consideration of the Chaekgado. The Chaekgado is a decorative picture displaying books and articles in a bookcase with several levels and several cells, such various materials displayed in the Chaekgado have the symbol and significance. First, the creative expression and fanciness in the form of vertical and horizontal geometric composition of books and bookcase are characteristic. Second, the Chaekgado, which was influenced by the West and Qing Dynasty, was expressed in three dimensions due to the influence of King Jeongjo’s academic political tendency and western style painting. Third, mostly it shows symmetry structure, and was expressed in deep color painting mainly with natural color using Obangjeongsaek(Korea’s five traditional colors) and Gansaek(relations colors). Fourth, materials of the Chaekgado stand out with fanciness in various patterns such as Neunghwamun, etc. The work of this research determined the theme by selecting the materials of the Chaekgado and schematized the expression of materials. The researcher gave overlap through division and change to central color with the researcher’s interpretation based on the three-dimensional expression of the Chaekgado painting. This way, the researcher produced total 7 pieces of textile design works based on DTP technique on the side based on the completed work, among them, progressed handwork on the line expression in gold dust in three works. The intention of this research work was to draw geometric expression mainly with books and bookcase, the major materials of the Chaekgado, and extent 3-dimensional expression in the flat picture of the Chaekgado by attempting 3-dimensional method and composition by combining each objects. This research could easily derive a new expression combined with the researcher’s emotion while producing a work as the researcher could understand and empathize with the literary value of the Chaekgado through the consideration of origin and background of the Chaekgado. Also, the researcher could deeply empathize with the importance of aesthetic sense of Joseon the Chaekgado with the excellence and creativity of formative characteristic. Particularly, the researcher could contribute to extension of expressive possibility to draw 3-dimensional expression of the Chaekgado motif through 3-dimensional overlap escaping from the limitation of the existing 2-dimensional expression increase of aesthetic impression. Based on this research work, it was determined that the characteristics of modern formative factors in the constitutive esthetics and geometric structure, etc. of books and bookcase, the major motifs of the work, were the subjects that could be well harmonized with modern textile design research, and the researcher could view the possibility of development of color expression through various attempts by giving change to proportion and arrangement of central color. The above conclusion determines that it is necessary to combine understanding of the society, history, and culture, etc. on the whole in order to research the traditional materials of Korean culture and art as the work, and based on this, it is necessary to search an active and independent modern search process. The researcher expects more work researches on the Chaekgado to grant sincerity to cultural value and significance and continue new artistic attempts, henceforth.;한국적인 소재를 이용하여 새로운 디자인을 창출하는 것은 많은 연구자의 관심의 대상이었다. 특히 우리는 책가도의 우수한 인문학적 가치와 조형적 예술성을 표출하고 관심을 갖는 등 다양한 움직임들에 주목할 필요가 있으며, 책가도와 같은 한국 전통 소재의 응용은 문화 경쟁력을 유지하는데 중요한 요소가 되고 있다. 또한 21세기는 텍스타일 디자인 산업의 급속한 다변화로 인하여 예술성과 문화성을 지닌 전통 소재의 새로운 컨텐츠가 필요한 시점이다. 본 연구는 한국 전통의 책가도(冊架圖)를 새롭게 해석하여 텍스타일 디자인으로 제작하는데 목적을 두었다. 또한 본 연구의 방법은 책가도의 이론적 고찰을 위한 관련 문헌 연구를 토대로 하여 작품 제작을 하였다. 책가도는 다층 다칸의 책가에 책과 기물들이 진열된 장식화 그림으로 책가도에 진열되어 있는 다양한 소재는 상징과 의미가 있다. 첫째, 서책과 책가의 수직, 수평의 기하학적 구성에 대한 형태의 독창적인 표현과 장식성이 특징이다. 둘째, 서양과 청나라의 영향을 받은 책가도는 정조의 학문적 정치 성향과 서양화법의 영향으로 인해 입체적으로 표현된 것이 특징이다. 셋째, 대체적으로 대칭구도의 형식을 보이며 오방정색과 간색을 사용한 자연색 위주의 진채화로 표현되었다. 넷째, 책가도의 소재에는 능화문 등 다양한 문양의 장식성이 돋보인다. 본 연구의 작품에서는 책가도의 소재를 선별하여 주제를 정하고 소재의 표현을 도식화 하였다. 책가도 그림의 입체적 표현을 본연구자의 해석으로 분할을 통한 중첩 및 중심 색채의 변화를 주었다. 이와 같이 완성된 작품을 면에 DTP 기법으로 총 7점의 텍스타일 디자인 작품을 제작하였으며 그 중 3점의 작품에 금분의 선 표현을 수작업으로 진행하였다. 본 연구의 작품에서 의도한 것은 책가도의 중심 소재인 서책과 책가를 중심으로 기하학적 표현을 이끌어내고 각각의 물상들을 결합시켜 입체적 표현 방법과 구성을 시도하여 책가도의 평면적인 그림에서 3차원의 표현의 확장이다. 본 연구는 책가도의 연원 및 배경의 고찰을 통해 책가도의 인문학적 가치를 이해하고 공감하게 되면서 작품 제작 시 본연구자의 정서와 결합된 새로운 표현의 도출이 용이 할 수 있었다. 또한 조형적 특징의 우수함과 독창성으로 조선 책가도의 미감의중요성에 대해 깊이 공감할 수 있었다. 특히 본연구자는 책가도의 모티프를 기존의 2차원적 표현의 한계에서 벗어나 입체적 중첩을 통한 3차원적 표현을 끌어내는 표현 가능성의 확장과 심미성의 증진에 기여할 수 있었다. 본 연구 작업을 통해 작품의 중심 모티프인 책가와 서책의 구성적 미학과 기하학적 구도 등에서 나타나는 현대적인 조형요소의 특징은 현대의 텍스타일 디자인 연구와 잘 어우러질 수 있는 주제임을 알 수 있었으며, 중심 색채의 비율과 배열의 변화를 주어 다양한 시도를 통한 색채 표현의 발전 가능성을 볼 수 있었다. 위와 같은 결론을 통하여 우리 문화, 예술의 전통적인 소재를 작품으로 연구하기 위해서는 사회, 역사, 문화 등의 전반적인 이해가 총체적으로 동반되어야 하며 이를 바탕으로 적극적이고 주체적인 현대적 모색과정이 필요하겠다. 앞으로 책가도와 관련하여 더 많은 작품 연구들이 나와 우리 문화에 대한 가치와 의미에 진정성을 부여하고 새로운 예술적 시도가 지속되길 바란다.
