진로스트레스, 경제적 어려움이 진로성숙에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 진로스트레스와 진로성숙, 경제적 어려움과 진로성숙의 관계에서 진로관련 부모지지의 역할을 밝혀 진로와 관련한 어려움과 스트레스를 호소하는 인문계 고등학생의 건강한 진로성숙 지원에 대한 시사점을 찾고자 하는 것이다. 위 연구문제를 검증하기 위해 서울, 인천, 대전의 세 지역의 5개 인문계 고등학교에 재학 중인 남녀고등학생 700명을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문조사가 이루어졌으며, 선별된 647개의 데이터를 가지고 SPSS 24.0을 사용하여 기술통계, 독립표본 t-test와 One-Way ANOVA, 그리고 상관분석과 단계적 중다회귀분석, 매개효과분석을 진행하였다. 분석 결과, 성별과 학년에 따른 연구변인의 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 진로스트레스, 경제적 어려움, 진로관련 부모지지, 진로성숙 간의 유의미한 상관이 나타났다. 또한 진로성숙을 유의하게 설명하는 요인은 진로스트레스의 진로모호성, 진로관련 부모지지의 언어적 격려, 경제적 어려움 순인 것으로 확인되었다. 여학생의 경우, 진로모호성, 언어적 격려, 진학/취업압력 순으로 진로성숙을 유의하게 예측하였고, 남학생의 경우 진로모호성, 언어적 격려, 경제적 어려움 순으로 진로성숙을 유의하게 예측하였다. 매개분석 결과로는, 진로스트레스와 진로성숙의 관계에서 진로관련 부모지지가 부분매개의 효과를 나타냈다. 이에 대한 여학생의 부분매개효과는 Sobel test 결과 유의하지 않았으며, 남학생의 부분매개효과는 유의하였다. 또한 경제적 어려움과 진로성숙의 관계에서도 진로관련 부모지지의 부분 매개효과가 나타났으며, 이에 대한 여학생과 남학생의 부분매개효과가 유의한 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구결과를 통해 경제적 어려움과 진로스트레스는 각각 진로성숙에 부정적인 영향을 미치며 이러한 관계에서 진로와 관련한 부모지지는 긍정적인 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 진로성숙 향상기제가 되는 부모지지의 긍정적인 영향력을 확대시킬 수 있도록 학부모 대상의 진로교육과 부모참여 형태의 진로상담이 이루어질 때 보다 건강한 청소년의 진로성숙 발달을 도모하리라는 시사점을 제공한다. 또한 진로지지 중에서도 언어적 격려를 높게 인식했다는 결과는 상담이 언어를 통해 제공된다는 점에서 진로상담의 중요성을 말해준다. 이에 상담가는 경제적인 어려움과 진로스트레스에 취약한 학생들에게 적절한 진로상담을 지원하고, 전체 학생들을 대상으로 심리교육을 통한 적극적인 자기 이해와 적성탐색을 도울 때 청소년의 건강한 진로성숙에 기여할 것으로 기대한다. 주제어 : 진로스트레스, 경제적 어려움, 진로관련 부모지지, 진로성숙;The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of career-related parent support in the relations between career stress and career maturity, economic hardship and career maturity. In order to accomplish the research goals, self-report questionnaires were conducted on 700 high school students in five schools in Seoul, Incheon, and Daejeon. With 647 valid data out of 700, SPSS 24.0 was used for descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, One-Way ANOVA, correlation analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis and mediating effect analysis. The results showed that there were significant differences in some research variables according to gender and grade, and there were significant correlations between career stress, economic hardship, career-related parent support and career maturity. In addition, factors that significantly predict career maturity were identified as career ambiguity of career stress, verbal encouragement of career-related parent support, and economic hardship in order. For female students, factors that predict career maturity were career ambiguity, verbal encouragement, and admission/employment pressure in order. For male students, the most predicting variables were career ambiguity, verbal encouragement, and economic hardship in order. The results of the mediation analysis showed that career-related parent support was partially mediated in the relationship between career stress and career maturity. The partial mediating effect of the female students was not significant in the Sobel test, whereas the partial mediation effect of male students was significant. Also, the partial mediation effect of career-related parent support was confirmed in the relationship between economic hardship and career maturity, and the partial mediation effect of female students and male students was found to be significant. These research findings imply that the career maturity development of adolescents will be promoted when career guidance programs for parent and parent-involving group counseling are carried out in order to expand the positive influence of parent support which is the mechanism for improving career maturity. In addition, the result of high recognition of verbal encouragement among career-related support variables shows the importance of career counseling in that counseling is provided through language. Therefore, school counselors will contribute to the healthy career maturity of adolescents when they support appropriate career counseling for students who are economically difficult and vulnerable to career stress and provide opportunities for active self-understanding and career exploration for all students.
