캄보디아인 한국어 학습자의 거절 화행 실현 양상 연구

Abstract

The issue of Cambodian Language related to Speech Acts has not been addressed in the field of Korean education until now. However, according to previous Korean linguistics and Social linguistics studies, differences exist in the use of the Korean language by different Language and culture. In this study, we will look into the patterns of Speech Acts with regards to Refusal Speech Acts realization, of Korean native speakers and compare it with a group of Korean Language learners, which consist of a majority of Cambodian students. The focus of this research is on examining the realization of the Refusal Speech Acts. Refusal Speech Acts not only bears the face-threatening act towards the opposite party, but also have a high burden degree. Due to these qualities, Advanced Korean language learners will likely face pragmatic failure even if they make few grammatical mistakes. The purpose of this study, is to find aspects that can be reflected and applied in Korean language education for Cambodian learners, by comparing and analyzing the strategies on refusal speech act realization of native Korean speakers, Cambodian learners, and native Cambodian speakers. Chapter 1 presents the need and purpose of this study, and reviews previous studies, analyzing the refusal speech act realization patterns and strategies of Korean native speakers, and foreign learners of Korean language, including Cambodian learners. Chapter 2 discusses the theoretical basis of the concept and the features of refusal speech act and sets up the strategy framework for analyzing the refusal speech act responses collected through Discourse Completion Test. Chapter 3 illustrates the methodology employed for the study. The Discourse Completion Tests were implemented to compare the three groups’ refusal speech act realization. The research targets were 30 native Korean speakers, 30 Cambodian learners of Korean language, and 30 native Cambodian speakers. Of the questions, 18 of them consisted of different initiator speech act and social cultural variables. Chapter 4 discusses the refusal speech act strategies and realizations used by three groups. It analyzes and compares the kind of refusal strategies the three groups use in different situations based on initiator speech acts, degree of social status and age, and degree of degree of intimacy. Chapter 5 summarizes the results of this research. This study found that Cambodian learners of Korean language prefer using direct refusal strategy in order to minimize the face-threatening act to the other party. Moreover, they use various indirect strategies together. It can be inferred that this is related to their uneasiness with using imperfect Korean language. Therefore, Cambodian learners of Korean language need to be educated on the social and cultural aspects of Korea.;본 연구의 목적은 한국어 모어 화자, 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자, 캄보디아인 모어화자의 거절 화행 사용이 변인에 따라 어떠한 양상을 보이는지 비교•분석하는데 있다. 나아가 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자에게 한국어와 캄보디아어 영향을 중간 언어로서 미치는 영향을 밝혀보며 연구 결과를 반영하여 더 나은 화용적 지식 습득을 위해 캄보디아인 한국어 교육에서 보완할 점을 살펴보고자 한다. 여러 가지 화행 중에서도 거절화행은 다양한 상황에서 발생하며 사용 시에 적절하게 표현하지 못 하면 상대방의 체면에 손상을 가할 수 있으며 상대방으로부터 오해와 갈등을 유발할 수 있다. 그리고 학습자가 거절 화행을 사용할 때에는 많은 심리적 부담이 작용하기 때문에 이를 적절하게 사용하는데 어려움이 따르기 마련이다. 따라서 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자가 실제 상황에서 거절 화행을 사용할 때에는 한국어의 사회와 문화, 정서에 대한 이해뿐만 아니라 한국어 거절 화행에 대한 다양한 전략 학습이 더욱 요구된다. 제 I 장에서는 본 연구의 목적과 필요성을 제시하였다. 그리고 한국어 모어 화자와 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자, 캄보디아어 모어 화자의 거절 화행 실현 양상과 전략을 분석한 선행 연구와 본 연구의 문제를 밝히고자 한다. 제 II 장에서는 거절 화행 연구를 위해서 먼저 화행 이론과 거절 화행, 비교 문화적 화용론에 대한 이론적 배경을 논하고자 한다. 먼저 화행 이론을 간단하게 살펴보고자 한다. 화행 이론의 대표적인 두 학자인 Austin과 Searle의 화행 이론을 중심으로 화행 이론에 대해 살펴보고 거절 화행의 개념과 특징을 밝히고 거절 화행 전략에 기준의 연구를 살펴보도록 한다. 그 다음에는 비교 문화적 화용론을 살펴보는 것이다. 외국어 학습자에게 사회와 문화 차이 때문에 화용적 사용 차이가 일어난다고 외국어 교육에서 화용적 측면 중요성을 강조하였다. 언어 행위 중에는 거절이 체면 손상도가 높은 행위로, 사회와 문화 차이 때문에 의사소통에 오해가 발생 의사소통의 실패가 일어날 수 있는 위험이 매우 높다. 제 III 장에서는 본 실험의 연구 대상자 선정 기준과 연구 대상자의 구성을 밝히고 연구에 사용될 연구 도구의 장점과 한계를 살펴볼 것이다. 본 실험 진행에 앞서 설문지 문항의 현실성을 파악하기 위한 상황 개연성 실험과 실험 과정상의 문제 발생 여부를 확인할 수 있는 예비 실험을 각각 단계별로 자세히 밝히고, 기초 조사와 예비 실험의 결과를 반영하여 최종적으로 본 실험을 진행한다. 그리고 제 II 장에서 살펴본 선행연구의 거절 화행 전략 분석 기준을 근거로 하여 본 연구에서의 결과 분석을 위한 거절 화행 전략 분석 기준을 제시하고자 한다. 제 IV 장에서는 앞에서 살펴본 이론적 배경과 거절 화행 전략 분석 기준을 바탕으로 연구 대상자들의 거절 화행 사용 양상을 변인에 따라 분석하고 한국어 모어 화자, 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자, 캄보디아어 모어 화자 각각 집단 간의 거절 화행 사용 양상의 차이점과 유사점에 대한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자들의 거절 화행의 특징을 파악하고 이를 반영하여 교수 시 유의점에 대해 논하고자 한다. 마지막으로 제 V 장에서는 연구 내용을 요약, 정리하고 보다 발전된 연구를 위한 제언을 한다. 본 연구의 결과를 반영하여 한국어를 지도함으로써 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자가 한국어 모어 화자와 유사한 거절 화행을 실행할 수 있도록 유도하여야 할 것이다. 이러한 연구 결과는 캄보디아인을 위한 한국어 교육에 적극 반영하여 캄보디아인 한국어 학습자가 효율적인 화용론 지식을 습득해 나가도록 하는데 의의가 있다고 볼 수 있겠다.
