기억에 내재된 감정 표현연구

Abstract

과거라는 시간을 내포한 기억은 내재된 감정과 함께 앞날에 크고 작은 영향을 미친다. 대개 감정과 기억은 등시(登時)적으로 형성되어 기억이 저장됨과 동시에 마음의 상태 또한 함께 기록된다. 그리하여 기억한다는 것은 단순하게 상황을 회상하는 것에서 더 나아가 그때의 감정을 상기하는 것을 의미한다. 감정의 긍정, 부정적인 면을 떠나 사람은 감정과 기억을 통해 보다 나은 앞날을 꿈꾸며 발전해 나간다. 본 연구에서는 친부(親父)의 사별로 인해 발생한 기억과 감정을 상기하여 시각적 언어로 표현하고자 한다. 아버지의 생존 여부를 떠나 늘 정신적으로 기대고 의지할 수 있었던 원인은 사별에 대한 상실감과 슬픔의 감정이 시간의 흐름에 따라 미래를 긍정적으로 살게 하는 원동력으로 변화하였다는 데에 있다. 현실에 아버지는 비가시적이지만, 연구자의 정신과 내면에 보살핌과 사랑을 주는 존재로 의미 확장되어 왔다는 것을 조형적 작품으로 표현하는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. 본 논문은 부친의 죽음이 10년 이상 흘렀음에도 불구하고 조형적 언어로 표출시켰어야 할 만큼 본인의 정서적 각성을 불러일으키는 기억 인지에 대한 연구이다. 이에 따라 이론연구에서는 정서적으로 각인된 기억과 감정의 상관관계를 문헌을 통해 연구하였고, 이어서 청소년기에 나타나는 특징과 어린 유자녀의 부/모 사별 후 나타나는 심리적 상태를 문헌 연구를 통해 주제와의 연관성을 확인하였다. 더불어 근 현대미술에서 가족의 죽음이 작가의 조형적 세계에 영향을 미친 사례를 살펴보았고, 부/모의 사별 경험을 토대로 조형작업을 한 선례연구 두 가지를 비교·분석하여 조형적 주제표현의 실현 가능성과 작품세계의 독창성을 검토하였다. 주제의 조형적 표현에서는 현대예술에 있어서 존재와 비존재의 조형적 표현, 투명성의 조형적 표현, 드로잉의 입체적 표현 사례를 작가들의 작품 위주로 분석하여 독자적인 표현연구 방식을 다졌으며, 주제의 다양한 접근방식과 표현방식에 대해 탐구하여 실제 작품제작의 표현력 향상을 위해 참고하였다. 작품제작에 있어서 비실재적인 존재의 표현방법은 시각적으로 뚜렷하게 보이지 않고 빛과 그림자의 여부에 따라 가시적으로 나타나는 특징을 가진 투명함의 물성에 착안하여 투명사(Monofilament Thread)와 투명 폴리우레탄(Poly Urethane)을 재료로 사용하였다. 이외 작품에 나타나는 모든 표현은 아버지의 존재와 구별하기 위해 드로잉의 기본 색채인 무채색으로 표현하였다. 드로잉 표현방식에서는 공간에 3차원적인 섬유드로잉의 실현과 사실적인 표현으로 감정의 극대화를 위해 머신스티치(Machine Stitch)기법을 사용하였고, 투명 폴리우레탄을 사용한 '투명드로잉'을 실험하였다. 이를 토대로 총 7점의 작품을 제작하였으며, 섬유와 다른 질료의 조화가 가능한지에 대해 실험하여 독창적인 조형 언어를 가질 수 있는 바탕을 만들었다.;The memories of past, along with the emotions within, have great and small impact in the future. Usually, emotions and memories are formed immediately that as soon as the memory is saved, the state of mind is also registered. Therefore, remembering is more than simply recollecting the situation: It is to recall the emotions from the time as well. Apart from the positive and negative aspect of emotion, human dreams of and develops better future with emotions and memories. This study aims to express the memory of bereavement of father and emotions from the memory in visual language. The reason why I could mentally depend and rely on my father regardless he is dead or alive was because the loss and sadness from bereavement turned into motivation that led me to see the future positively as time passed. The purpose of this study is to express with three-dimensional artworks the expansion in the meaning of father as the one who loves and takes care of me. This study investigates whether the memory of father's death leads to an emotional arousal that requires one to express it in a formative language even after 10 or more years. Accordingly, the theoretical study looked into the correlation between strong memory and emotion through literature research. Subsequently, another literature research was conducted on the psychological state of children who experienced death of father/mother relatively at a young age to verify the correlation with the study’s topic. Also, modern and contemporary artworks of artists who were affected by the death of family or parting were mainly studied. Two precedent studies on three-dimensional artworks created based on the experience of death of father/mother were compared and analyzed to review the possibility of realizing the expression of the theme and the originality of the oeuvres. In studying the formative expression of the theme, formative expression of existence and nonexistence, formative expression of transparency, and three-dimensional expression of drawings in modern art were studied by analyzing the works of artists to build an original method of expression. Research on various approaches to the theme and expression methods was used as reference to enhance the power of expression for actual creation of artworks. In producing the work, the unreal existence of father was expressed with transparent thread (mono-filament yarn) and transparent polyurethane material based on the idea of property of transparent matters that is only visible depending on the existence of light and shade. All expressions in the work were done in the basic colors of drawing – achromatic colors – to separate from the existence of father. For expression in drawing, the machine stitch technique was used to realize the three-dimensional fiber drawing and maximize realistic expression of emotion, and the polyurethane fiber were used to experiment 'transparent drawing'. Based on this, a total of seven artworks were created, and an experience was made to test whether the fiber and another substance can be harmonized to create the background for a unique formative language.
