유아의 부정적 정서성이 정서적 유능성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of child’s negative emotionality on emotional competence through mother’s emotion-related parenting. Mothers of three to five-years old preschool children participated in this study. Data were gathered via questionnaires regarding to preschoolers’ negative emotionality, mothers’ emotion-related parenting and children’s emotional competence. Data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson’s correlations and simple and multiple regression analysis. The main results were as follows: First, the expression of anger/frustration and sadness were positively related to mother’s emotion-related parenting and children’s emotional competence though the expression of fear was related with only mothers’ emotion-related parenting. Second, when it comes to meditation effects, mother’s emotion-related parenting partially meditated the relationship between children’s negative emotionality and emotional competence. Taken together, this study revealed the meditating role of mother’s emotion-related parenting to child’s negative emotionality on emotional competence. Such result of this study may be expected to use as effective resource in the parent education programs.;본 연구의 목적은 유아의 부정적 정서성, 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동 및 유아의 정서적 유능성 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 유아의 부정적 정서성이 정서적 유능성에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동이 매개하는지 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 만 3-5세 유아 289명의 어머니를 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 유아의 부정적 정서성을 측정하기 위해 Rothbart, Ahadi와 Hershey(1994)가 개발하고 권연희(2002)가 수정, 보완한 아동 행동 질문지(Children’s Behavior Questionnaire[CBQ])를 사용하였다. 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동은 Gottman, Katz와 Hooven(1997)이 개발한 상위정서이론에 근거한 척도를 Hakim-Larson, Parker, Lee, Goodwin과 Voelker(2006)가 수정한 ERPSST-L(Emotion-Related Parenting Styles Self-Test-Likert)의 축약형(Paterson et al., 2012)을 사용하여 측정하였다. 유아의 정서적 유능성을 측정하기 위해서 Salovye와 Mayer(1996)의 정서지능 모형을 근거로 이병래(1997)가 제작한 ‘5세용 정서지능 체크리스트’를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 통해 t-test 및 상관관계분석을 실시하였고, 매개분석은 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 삼단계 모형을 단순회귀분석과 중다회귀분석을 통하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 대한 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 부정적 정서성, 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동과 유아의 정서적 유능성의 하위요인 간 상관과 관련하여, 분노/좌절과 슬픔의 표현은 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동과 유아의 정서적 유능성과 유의한 상관을 보였으나, 두려움의 표현은 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동과만 유의한 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 유아의 부정적 정서성이 정서적 유능성에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동이 부분적으로 매개하였다. 구체적으로, 유아의 분노/좌절의 표현이 타인인식능력에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 정서코칭 양육행동, 유아의 분노/좌절의 표현이 타인조절/대인관계능력에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 정서코칭 양육행동, 유아의 분노/좌절의 표현이 타인인식능력에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 불확실성 양육행동이, 그리고 유아의 슬픔의 표현이 자기조절능력에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 거부적 양육행동이 부분적으로 매개하였다. 종합해보면, 본 연구는 유아의 부정적 정서성이 정서적 유능성에 미치는 영향이 어머니의 정서관련 양육행동을 통해 매개되는지 살펴봄으로써, 유아의 정서적 유능성에 영향을 주는 환경적 요인인 어머니의 양육행동의 중요성을 강조하였다. 본 연구결과는 유아의 건강한 정서발달을 위한 실질적인 양육행동을 제시하며 유아에게 긍정적인 정서사회화를 제공하는 부모교육 프로그램 개발에 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
