공교육에서의 음악교과 위치에 대한 중등음악교사의 인식

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 공교육에서 음악교과의 위치에 대한 중등음악교사의 인식을 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전국의 중·고등학교에 재직 중인 음악교사 105명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 연구 문제에 따라 빈도분석이 실시되었고, 개방형 문항에 대해서는 질적 자료 분석이 시행되었다. 본 연구의 분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 음악교육의 목적과 필요성에 대한 내용을 분석한 결과, 음악교사들이 음악교육의 목적을 생각할 때 내적목적의 가치에 많은 비중을 두고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 현재 음악교육에서 가장 우선시 되어야 하는 교육목적은 학습자의 생활을 풍부하게 하는 것에 초점이 맞추어져 있었다. 또한 많은 음악교사들은 음악교육의 필요성에 대해서 인성 및 정서적 지원을 위해 음악교과가 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 학교현장에서의 음악교과에 대한 교사의 인식을 분석한 결과, 음악교사들이 생각하는 내실 있는 수업을 위한 요인은 실제 수업상황에서 잘 반영되고 있지 않은 것으로 나타났으며, 오히려 수업을 저해하는 요인이 현재 수업상황에서 나타나고 있다고 인식하였다. 또한 음악교사는 학교에서의 음악교과에 대해 수업시수 부족, 학생들의 수업태도, 음악실 환경 개선, 음악교과 인식개선, 학교교육에서 음악교과의 비중확대에 대한 인식이 높았다. 셋째, 음악교사의 직무만족도를 분석한 결과, 음악교사의 직무만족도를 높이는 요인은 학생과의 원만한 상호작용인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 음악교사의 목표의식과 관련된 교사의 개인적 측면과 타 교과 교사 및 학교장과의 관계적 측면에서는 전반적으로 만족감을 드러냈지만 학부모와의 관계에 있어서는 학부모가 음악교사를 바라보는 시선에 대한 염려를 드러내고 있었다. 이는 학교현장에서 학부모로부터 음악교사에 대한 편견이 존재하고 있다는 것을 나타내는 것이다. 넷째, 앞으로 음악교육의 방향성에 대해서 가장 시급하게 개선되어야 할 사항을 분석한 결과, 음악교과가 교육현장에서 음악교육만의 당위성을 인정받지 못하고 주지교과에 밀려 그 설자리를 잃어가고 있음에 대해 가장 중요하게 인식하고 있었다. 이외에도 음악교사들은 음악교과의 재정지원 부족, 행정업무 부담, 음악교과의 수업시수 확보, 음악교사 충원, 교사의 역량강화 및 전문성 신장을 위한 교사연수 활성화, 학교·교육청·연구단체 상호간의 소통이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 공교육에서 입시위주 교육환경에 따른 음악교과의 주변화를 나타내고 있는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 전국의 중·고등학교에 재직 중인 음악교사를 대상으로 공교육에서의 음악교과 위치에 대한 인식을 조사함으로써 학교현장에서 보다 내실 있는 수업운영과 교육환경발전 및 음악교과의 확고한 위치설정을 위해 중요한 몇 가지의 시사점을 제안한다. 본 연구를 통해 공교육에서 음악교과만의 고유한 음악적 교육기능과 당위성을 인정받는 교과 및 교육환경이 되기를 바라며 이에 국가 차원의 제도적인 장치가 마련되기를 기대한다.;This research is to investigate general awareness regarding current position of music education from educators. The survey result was gathered from 105 Middle/High school music teacher across the nation. Gathered resources has been analyzed accordingly using the analysis of frequency method while the questions for descriptive answers were analyzed using quality data analysis method. The results and findings of research is reported below. First, after analyzing the purpose and necessity of music education, the teachers mainly focused on internal purpose by large quantity. Enriching learner’s everyday living with music education is the first major role of contemporary music education. Moreover, music teachers understand the necessity of music education among school courses for students’ personal and emotional growth support. Second, after analyzing the general understanding of music class among school teachers, it is found that the outcomes with stabilizing results are minimum, but are rather hindering the school courses. Moreover, they were aware of deficiency of music class courses, attitude of students while under education, improvement of music class environment, advancement for general awareness for the music class, and expansion of importance for the music class amongst school curriculum. Third, after analyzing the career satisfaction of the music teachers, it is found that fond interaction between teachers and students was the prime factor to increase the result value. Moreover, they were generally satisfied among personal/relational status between school authorities and themselves, but showed anxiety toward the attention of school parents. It arises to a fact that the school parents are practicing the prejudice to music teachers on school field. Fourth, After analyzing the factors in most urgent need for the future of musical education, improving the music education class’s statue amongst other main courses from the educational field was found to be the prime. Moreover, music teachers claimed and understood in need of financial support, documentation support, setting fixed amount of music classes quota, music instructor recruitment, improving music teacher capabilities, training sessions, and interaction between school, board of education, and research organizations. These results showed the current state of music classes' interaction by adapting to the educational field which mainly focus on university entrance exam. With analyzing the general understanding of music education among music instructors working on middle/high school field, I propose the several important factors to stabilize the class management and improving the music education environment. I wish for this research to be the catalyst to achieve recognition of music course’s unique features followed by government-supporting institutional systems.
