Abstract
The purpose of this study lies in learning the operation situation in educational fields by examining the awareness on music-specialized curriculum and the earning satisfaction based on the CIPP evaluation model, aiming at the students in music-centered high school being run as a part of art centered school, and in providing the base line data for the improvement on educational environment, and the specialization and activation of music- centered high schools, according to this. This study investigated the awareness and learning satisfaction on music- specialized curriculum targeting the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students in 4 places of music-centered high schools operated nationwide, where a total of 370 students participated in the survey. Interms of the composition of questionnaire, it was largely composed of general terms, awareness of music- specialized curriculum, and the learning satisfaction based on the CIPP evaluation model; and depending on the research issues, the reliability checks, frequency analysis, χ2 test, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan ex-post analysis were conducted. The summary of research findings which appeared based on the analysis is as follows. First, as a result of the analysis for the awareness on music-specialized curriculum based on the general characteristics of students in music-centered high schools, in terms of the importance, students selected the special practice as an important subject, and showed the lower values for chorus and ensemble, or musical history. In the awareness depending on the level of difficulty, they chose the sight-singing & ear training, musical history, and musical theory as the higher difficult subjects, and the chorus and ensemble, and special practice appeared as the lower difficult subjects. In the awareness according to the necessity, the special practice and performing exercise(liberal practice) appeared highest, and chorus and ensemble, and musical history showed the lowest values. Second, as a result of the analysis of the learning satisfaction based on general characteristics of students in music-centered high schools, in the satisfaction according to the grade, there were the part differences, and it appeared the higher the grade is, the lower the satisfaction for contexts would be. In addition, in the results depending on the contexts of learning satisfaction, which emerged by each major, the students who major in western music and Korean music appeared higher than the students majoring in practical music and non-majoring in them, and in the questions of evaluation method in the process, there were the differences on the satisfaction depending on the detailed majors of western music. In the analysis for the learning satisfaction based on genders, the male appeared lower in the areas of Context, Input, and Process than the female students. Third, in terms of the results having analyzed the major exploration through the music-specialized curriculum based on the product of CIPP evaluation model, in the improvement of musical skills, 92.2% of the students responded that they could improve their musical ability via the music-specialized curriculum, and in the most improved part of musical abilities, the response on ‘general knowledge of music’ was the highest. In addition, in the area of specialty deepening, 45.5% of the student responded that the music- specialized curriculum would be generally helpful for deepening the specialty. However, in the areas of the improvement of musical skills and specialty deepening, of the general characteristics, the significant difference appeared in the specialty and gender. In the case of specialties, the students who specialize in the Korean music and the ones who don’t showed the relatively low results, and in the gender, the male students showed the lower results than the female ones. As a result of analysis, the music-centered high schools were operated for the purpose of college entrance, unlike the original object, and students also wanted the more deepened specialized education focusing on the entrance examination. Furthermore, the teachers' awareness for the unequal learning opportunities among students will be required. Thus, it looks that depending on the nature of each school, the curriculum organization on specialized courses would have to be rearranged, and if the improvement of program according to the requirement of students and the active support of government would be provided, the more effective and activated operations of music- centered high schools could be expected.
