현대적 자연관에 따른 자연시 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 문학교육의 장에서 구현되는 기존의 자연시 교육의 문제점을 발견하고 새로운 자연시 교육의 방향 및 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 특히 김수영의 자연시가 전통 지향적 자연시들과는 변별되는 이질적인 요소들을 배태하고 있음에 주목하고, 새로운 자연시 교육의 방향을 김수영 시에 나타난 자연의 의미를 통해 확인해 보고자 하였다. 문학교육의 장에서 구현되는 자연시 교육에서는 자연을 대상으로 순수 서정을 표현한 이른바 전통 지향적 자연시가 그 대다수를 차지하고 있다. 전통 지향적 자연시들은 현실과 자연을 분리된 것으로 보는 이원론적 세계 인식을 바탕으로, 현실에 대해 닫힘의 자세를 취하고 이상화된 자연을 향해 열림의 자세를 취하는 경향을 띤다. 이상화된 자연을 미적 관조의 거리에서 바라보며, 시를 쓰는 행위를 통해서 이상화된 자연과 합일하고자 하는 일원론 지향적 실천을 보여준다. 전통 지향적 자연시로의 경도는 자연에 대한 정형화된 인식의 재생산, 자연에 대한 맹목적인 친화의 요구, 자연을 중심으로 하는 새로운 시적 상상력의 제한 등의 문제점을 내포한다. 이에 비해 김수영 시에서 자연은 탈속이나 초월의 공간이 아닌 현실적이고 구체적인 공간으로 구현되며, 김수영 시의 시적 주체는 자연에 대한 도취를 경계하고 자연과의 사이에 반성적 거리를 조성한다. 이 거리를 유지하면서 시적 주체는 현실이 주는 중압감을 회피하지 않고, 자연에 대한 사유를 통해 근대화되어 가는 자본주의 문명 속에서 존재를 성찰하며, 타자를 이해하는 방식을 모색한다. 김수영은 자연을 미적 탐구 대상으로 타자화하지 않는 대신 자연이 가진 본질적인 힘을 응시했다. 또한 자연의 본질을 이해하고, 자연이 가진 역동적이면서도 윤리적인 힘을 현실에서의 실천적 동력으로 삼고자 했다. 이러한 인식을 바탕으로 하여 김수영의 시에는 자연과 인간이 대등한 위치에서 병존하고 있으며, 그러한 지향이 종래의 서정시와는 다른 형식의 실험을 통해 형상화되고 있다. 이 연구는 김수영 자연시에 나타난 새로운 지향을 ‘현대적 자연관’이라 명명하고, 이러한 새로운 지향을 확장하고 구체화한 일군의 자연시들을 살펴보는 가운데 현대적 자연관에 따른 자연시 교육의 내용을 세 가지 차원에서 모색하였다. 첫 번째는 자연과의 거리 조정을 통한 반성적 사고의 형성이다. 자연과의 합일이라는 전통적 자연관의 당위적 지향에서 벗어나 자아와 자아를 둘러싼 현실 혹은 인간과 자연의 관계가 올바른가 하는 것을 메타적으로 바라보게 하는 반성적 사고의 형성을 중요한 내용으로 설정하였다. 두 번째는 자연의 역동성에 주목한 생태학적 상상력의 발달이다. 시적 상상력 속에서 자연의 ‘본질’을 응시하고 자연을 인간과 평등한 자리에 위치시킴으로써 대등한 존재로 인간과 만나는 ‘자연’을 인식하고 경험하게 한다. 세 번째는 화해와 사랑의 세계 안에서의 타자 이해의 실현이다. 문학교육의 궁극적인 목적을 인간과 세계에 대한 이해라고 할 때 자연시 교육의 목표 역시 자연시를 통한 인간과 세계에 대한 이해의 심화가 되어야 한다. 물신주의가 팽배한 현대 자본주의 사회에서 타자를 이해하고 사랑하는 것은 가장 결핍된 부분이기에 이질적인 것들을 화해시키는 화해와 사랑의 세계로 ‘자연’을 인식하는 것은 매우 중요한 부분이라 할 것이다. 이 연구를 통하여 ‘자연’에 대한 사유는 불변의 것이 아니라 시대와 문화와 개인에 따라 변화하고 달라질 수 있다는 인식이 확대되고, 현대적 자연관을 바탕으로 자연이 자신의 삶이나 시대적 ․ 역사적인 현실과 연결된 구체적인 실재임을 인식하고 경험하는 계기가 학습자들에게 마련되기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this thesis is to clarify pre-existing problems associated with teaching nature poetry in the field of literature education and find out new teaching directions and methodology. In specific, this study focuses on the fact that Soo-Young Kim’s nature poems display characteristics different from those nature poems oriented towards tradition and aim to examine new teaching directions for the nature poetry by exploring the meaning of nature in Soo-Young Kim’s poems. Most of nature poems taught in the field of literature education are so-called‘tradition-oriented nature poems’ and they express pure lyricism towards nature. The tradition-oriented nature poems are based on a dualistic view of the world, which sets the reality apart from nature, and they tend to take a closed attitude towards the reality and an open attitude toward an idealized nature. The poems see the idealized nature from an aesthetic, contemplative view and exhibit monism-oriented practice that aims unity with the idealized nature by means of writing poetry. Bias towards the tradition-oriented nature poems causes the problems such as the reproduction of a standardized view of nature, demand for blind affinity for nature, and limitations on novel poetic imagination about nature. In contrast, in poems written by Soo-Young Kim, nature is manifested as an actual and concrete space, not a transcendental or unworldly space. The subject in the poems cautions oneself against intoxication with nature and creates a reflective distance from nature. While keeping this distance, the subject does not evade oppression from the reality but reflects on his existence in the capitalist civilization undergoing modernization through the consideration of nature and seeks ways to understand others. The poet does not perceive nature as an aesthetic object of research but stares at the fundamental power of nature. Moreover, he aims to understand the essence of nature and utilize the dynamic yet ethical power of nature as power of action in the reality. Based on this awareness, in his poems, nature and human beings coexist at an equal level and this orientation is manifested through experimenting a format different from that of pre-existing lyric poems. This study names this new perspective in Soo-Young Kim’s nature poems as a ‘modern view of nature.’ While inspecting a set of other nature poems that extend and embody this orientation further, this thesis comes up with education contents for the nature poems written from the modern view of nature at three dimensions. The first approach is the formation of a reflective way of thinking through adjusting the distance to nature. First, one needs to break out of the normative orientation of the traditional view of nature or unity with nature. The focus is to form a reflective way of thinking, which allows a metapeotic view of self, the reality around the self and whether the relationship between human beings and nature is right or not. The second is the facilitation of an ecological imagination about nature’s dynamics. In a poetic imagination, one stares at fundamental elements of nature and places nature at the same level as human beings. Then, one perceives and experiences nature coming together with the human beings as equal beings. The third is to achieve understanding of others in a world of reconciliation and love. Assuming that the ultimate goal of literature education is understanding of human beings and the world, the aim of teaching nature poetry also needs to be an advanced level of understanding of human beings and the world. Loving others and understanding others is what lacks most in today’s materialistic, capitalist society. Thus, teaching how to perceive nature as a world of reconciliation and love for disparate ones is a crucial part. This thesis is expected to raise awareness that the consideration of nature is not eternal but nature can change with generation, culture and individuals. Based on the modern view of nature, learners will be hopefully provided with opportunities to perceive and experience nature as concrete existence that is linked to their own life and also to the generational and historical reality.
