Abstract

Introduction Target learners: Intermediate high leveled undergraduates (according to ACTFL) Learning setting: Lectures in university; 16-20 students in one classroom. Rationale: Making upper-intermediate university students develop more sophisticated English use on interesting and deep topics around world. Goal & Method Goal To understand today’s worldwide issues and have conversations freely with others. To improve writing skills based on current issues. Method Communicative Language Learning Task-based Learning and Teaching (TBLT) Expected outcomes Students will be able to obtain background knowledge about recent issues. Students can encounter specific terms based on the topic and apply those words in a discussion. Learners will be able to learn how to speak logically and grow their confidence in talking about profound topics. Students will be able to get rid of fears of writing by plentiful writing practices on various topics
