축적된 정서로 바라본 풍경

Abstract

Nature that constantly changes is a foundation of human lives which exist as a part of nature. The human lives are continuously affected by the changes of nature in spiritual and physical ways. Moreover, nature does not only provide the relaxation and emotional inspiration to human beings but also makes human beings to intuitionally express the impression of what they see and what they feel, which leads to the frame of aesthetics and art activities of human beings. In the childhood of the author, the days in the seashore were filled with happiness from the family. The seashore was a place of meaningful attachment comprised of emotional bonds through personal experiences. The happy and beautiful memories were embedded into the place called seashore where the young author lived, and the place became the object of affection and reminiscence. This study starts from the curiosity of granting the emotion of attachment to a specific location. During the exploration, the author recognizes that there are instinct emotions of attachment between human beings and places. Such recognition is examined through the concept of ‘Topophilia’, which is the affection of attachment for a space that human beings intuitionally possess. It can be defined as a notion to include the emotional bond and intimacy between human beings and places. Given that the implication of topophilia is deduced from how a human experience a physical environment as space and location, nature, which is the fundamental background of all experiences, is a typical form of topophilia for human beings. Since the author become aware that the affection of attachment starts from the affection for nature, the affection was investigated by combining it to Sansuae(山水愛) of the oriental society. Nature reflected in the Oriental society is based on the natural perspective of Yugiron(唯氣論) as Do(道) of Yosanyosu(樂山樂水) and the integration of humans and nature. Such perception is deeply rooted as a basic knowledge of the oriental society and associated with Sansuae. Therefore, this study explored Sansuae of the Oriental society in a basis of the oriental thoughts and philosophies, analyzing the personal affection for seashore under the concept of instinct affection(愛) between humans and nature. Such topophilia offers the motive of formative creation of art. The author also utilized ‘seashore’ as a subject of work and the object of topophilia. The landscape of the seashore was reorganized with the experienced emotions of the author and represented through the medium of painting. In terms of expression method, the infinite sea and sky of seashore landscape were presented as a location by applying the characteristics of blank. The image of accumulated affections through the space was expressed through the repetition of small dots. Moreover, ink was utilized as the oriental color of aesthetic to represent the lyrical atmosphere of the landscape based on the oriental mood, and the relevant work analysis was conducted. This study helped the author to specify the experiences of topophila which was hardly explained and cultivate the perspective of sensuously examining the personal affections. By identifying the implications internalized in the pictorial expression of the works by the author, it is expected that the foundation of future creation activities is prepared. Furthermore, the emotional bonds to the seashore in the past shared topophilia by being recalled as the landscape of the seashore. It is hoped that it can make the audience to experience the place in indirect ways and enjoy the affections that the author wants to exhibit.;끊임없이 변화하는 자연은 인간삶의 터전이며, 인간은 자연의 일부로서 존재한다. 이러한 인간의 삶은 자연의 변화 속에서 정신적, 물질적으로 끊임없는 영향을 받고 살아간다. 또한 자연은 인간에게 정신적 안정감과 편안한 휴식의 여유를 주고 정서적 감흥을 유발하게 할 뿐만 아니라, 인간으로 하여금 본능적으로 보고 느낀 것에 대한 감동을 표현하려는 충동을 가지게 만들어 인간의 미의식 및 예술 활동의 토대를 만들었다. 어릴 적 연안(沿岸)에서의 생활은 늘 가족과 함께였고 즐겁고 행복했다. 연안은 본인의 개인적 체험을 통한 정서적 유대감으로 형성된 의미 가득한 애착의 장소이다. 유년시절 생활했던 연안의 장소를 통해 행복했고 아름다웠던 기억은 연안이라는 장소에 각인되어 애착과 그리움의 대상이 되었다. 본 연구는 특정 장소에 본인이 애착의 정서를 부여하는 것에 대한 호기심에서 출발하게 되었다. 이러한 호기심에서 시작된 탐구를 통하여 인간과 장소사이의 본능적인 애착의 정서가 있다는 것을 알게 되었다. 이러한 인식을 ‘토포필리아(Topophilia, 장소애)’라는 개념으로 살펴보았다. 토포필리아란 인간이 본능적으로 갖고 있는 장소에 대한 애착의 정서이며 인간과 장소사이의 정서적인 유대 및 결속을 포함하는 개념으로 정의될 수 있다. 이러한 장소애(愛)는 공간과 장소라는 물리적 환경을 기반으로 삶을 살아가는 인간에게 어떻게 체험되는가를 통하여 의미가 추출되기 때문에 그것들의 모든 배경인 자연은 인간에게 있어 토포필리아의 전형이라고 할 수 있다. 이를 통하여 본인과 연안의 장소에 대한 애착의 정서가 본인에게 내제되어 있는 자연에 대한 사랑에서 시작되었다는 것을 알게 되었고, 이것을 동양인의 산수애(愛)와 연결지어 연구하였다. 동양에서의 자연은 인간과 자연의 합일(合一), 요산요수(樂山樂水)의 도(道)로써 유기론(唯氣論)적 자연관을 바탕으로 한다. 이러한 자연에 대한 인식은 동양인들의 기본적 소양(素養)으로서 뿌리를 내리고 있으며, 동양인들의 산수애와 깊은 연관이 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 동양인의 산수애를 동양적 사고방식과 철학사상을 근거로 탐구하며, 본인이 연안에 대한 정서를 인간과 장소사이에 대한 본능적인 애(愛)의 개념으로 분석하였다. 이러한 장소애는 예술의 조형적인 창작의 계기를 제공하며, 본인 또한 ‘연안’을 장소애의 대상으로써 작업의 소재로 사용하였고, 연안의 풍경은 본인의 체험된 정서로 재구성되어 회화라는 매체를 통해 표현하였다. 표현 방법 연구에 있어서는 여백(餘白)의 특성을 이용하여 연안풍경의 하늘과 바다의 무한함을 나타내어 하나의 장소로서 표현하였고, 장소를 통해 축적된 정서의 이미지는 미점(米點)의 반복을 통하여 표현하였다. 또한 동양적 소양을 바탕으로 이루어진 풍경의 서정적 분위기를 나타내기 위해 동양의 미적 색감인 먹을 사용하였고, 이에 대한 작품 분석을 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 설명하기 힘들었던 장소애에 대한 경험들이 구체화되고 본인의 정서를 감각적으로 바라보는 시야를 탐구할 수 있었다. 이렇게 본인 작품의 회화적 표현에 내재되어 있는 의미를 밝히고 이를 바탕으로 앞으로의 창작활동의 기틀을 마련하고자 한다. 또한 과거 연안에 대한 정서적 유대감은 연안의 풍경으로 회상되어 장소애를 공유한다. 그리하여 보는 이로 하여금 대리적으로 장소를 경험하게 하고 본인이 나타내고자 했던 정서를 향유하기를 희망해본다.
