Joan Miro의 후기 회화 작품을 응용한 패션 디자인 연구

Abstract

Art, describing the inner aesthetic consciousness of human mind, has been deeply engaged in our daily lives. In a contemporary society, arts, as a genre per se, including architecture, music and drawing, became closely related to fashion industries and their expression and aesthetic pursuits have provided various motives for fashion designers. Plasticity expressed in art works has been applied to fashion designs to create unique and creative designs, and has evolved fashion designs with artistic qualities by reconstructing visual images. Especially, the collaboration of fashion design and painting does not merely indicate adding additional colors on clothes; it indicates the portrayal of a designer’s inner world and understanding the mind of artist, which satisfies multi-faceted cultural needs of modern people at the same time. Thus, this study has selected late works of Joan Miro, which represented symbolic signs and abstract expressions most actively, and employed water-soluble non-woven fabric to draw patterns incorporating various machine stitching and patchworks. Also, utilizing black and other vivid primitive colors which are commonly observed in his late works, the study has emphasized the visual effect. This study intends to apply plasticity observed in Joan Miro’s late painting works to fashion designs, and to establish potential creative fashion design works that meet various emotional needs of modern people, ultimately expanding the scope of expression at the same time. This study holds its worth in that it translates Joan Miro’s unique drawing lines observed and symbols impressed by objects into modern style symbols, and apply to fashion, creating a practical yet artistic fashion design. The study has been conducted by first reviewing and collecting modern fashion design cases that utilized plasticity and Joan Miro’s painting characteristics based on the understanding of his works through various literatures and images. In addition, by reviewing various literature studies, media and picture collections, the study has collected necessary data for the stitch method. Based on the collected data, the study has analyzed various applications of machine stitching and cases in which machine stitching has been actually incorporated into fashion by reviewing web, and fashion collections. Moreover, the study has reviewed unique fashion designs that have incorporated the vibe of drawing lines, and has selected 6 clothing items to review, including 2 pieces of long coat, 2 pieces of one-piece dress, and 2 pairs of tops and skirts. The results of the study are as follows. First, in an effort to incorporate inner world of Joan Miro mirrored in his paintings, seemingly scribble-like lines that are based on nature, symbolized images, plasticity of primitive colors can be utilized, and represent simple and symbolic images. Second, symbolized lines and shapes observed in Joan Miro’s late works are composed of calligraphic lines and geometric shapes such as ellipses, triangles and rectangles, and are thus suitable to be used as motifs for fashion patterns. Third, in an effort to utilize plasticity of colors observed in Joan Miro’s late works, by contrasting achromatic colors like black and white with primitive colors such as red, yellow and green, drastic and symbolic meanings can be well represented. Moreover, by incorporating simple silhouette, simply by using the same thread but varying its thickness, straight stitching can drastically express symbolic meanings through simple overlapping and repetition. Fourth, using machine stitching method, the study has represented the linear plasticity expressed by Joan Miro as if lines were drawn using a brush, and, by utilizing various materials through machine stitching method that incorporated application and patch work methods, the study has varied the texture. Thus, the study intended to explore unlimited potential of fashion industry and contribute to the development of modern fashion industry by utilizing simplicity, stability and vivid primitive colors, apparent plastic character of Joan Miro’s paintings, into fashion design. Moreover, by diversifying machine stitch decorations, the study hopes to develop high-end materials, and ultimately to provide greater opportunities to incorporate fashion and painting.;인간의 내적 미의식 세계를 표현하는 예술은 실생활의 한 부분으로 자리잡고 있다. 여기에 현대 사회에서 건축, 음악, 미술 등의 예술과 패션과의 콜라보레이션은 하나의 장르로 매우 밀접한 관계에 있으며, 예술이 표현되는 방식과 추구하는 바는 패션 디자이너들에게 다양한 모티프를 제공하고 있다. 예술 작품에 나타나는 조형성은 패션 디자인에 응용되어 독창적이고 창의적인 디자인을 가능하게 하며 시각적 이미지를 재구성함으로써 예술성을 갖춘 패션 디자인으로 새롭게 탄생하고 있다. 특히, 패션 디자인과 회화예술과의 콜라보레이션은 단순히 의상에 덧입히는 것에서 발전하여 디자이너의 내면 세계를 표현하고 작가의 정신을 깊이 이해하며 현대인의 다양한 문화적 욕구를 충족 시키는 것으로 매우 중요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 호안미로의 작품 중, 가장 활동이 왕성했고 상징적 기호와 추상적 표현을 잘 나타내는 후기 시대의 작품을 선정하여 수용성 부직포를 이용하여 문양을 만들고 다양한 머신 스티칭과 패치워크 등을 결합한 복합 기법을 개발하였다. 또한, 미로의 후기 작품에서 보여지는 검정색과 강렬한 원색을 사용하여 시각적 효과를 집중시켰다. 본 연구는 호안미로 후기 회화 작품의 조형성을 패션디자인에 응용함으로써 현대인의 다양한 감성에 부합 하고 창의적인 패션디자인 가능성을 제시하고 그 표현 영역을 확대함에 목적이 있다. 작품에서 나타나는 드로잉적인 선과 사물로부터 느낀 호안미로만의 상징을 현대적으로 기호화시키고 재해석하여 패션에 접목시킴으로써 예술적 이면서도 실용적인 디자인을 창출하는데 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법으로는 호안미로 회화의 작품 세계를 문헌과 화보집 을 통해 작품의 형성배경, 조형적 특징과 호안미로 회화를 응용한 현대 패션 디자인 사례를 조사하였고, 머신 스티칭 기법에 관한 내용은 문헌 연구, 정보 매체, 사진 자료집 등을 통해 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 머신 스티칭의 다양한 활용법을 분석하고 웹, 패션 컬렉션 등을 종합하여 패션에 있어서 머신 스티칭이 표현된 사례를 조사하였다. 이를 토대로 선의 율동감을 담아낸 독창성을 지닌 패션 디자인 연구를 진행하였으며 구성은 롱 코트 2점, 원피스 드레스 2점, 상의와 스커트 각 2점 등 총 6벌의 착장으로 작품을 진행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 호안미로 회화에 나타난 무의식의 내면세계를 작품에 도입함에 있어서 자연을 기반으로 한 낙서와 같은 유희적인 선, 상형 문자화된 형상, 원색적인 색채의 조형성을 응용하여 단순하고 기호화된 상징적 이미지를 표출 시킬 수 있었다. 둘째, 호안미로 후기 회화작품의 기호화된 선과 형태는 캘리그라픽적 선과 타원형, 삼각형, 사각형과 같은 기하학적 형태로 이루어져 패션의 문양의 다양한 모티프로 활용하기에 적합함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 호안미로 후기 작품에 나타난 색채의 조형적 특징을 작품에 응용함에 있어서 검정색과 흰색의 무채색과 빨강, 노랑, 초록 등의 원색에 의한 선명한 색상대비로 극대감과 상징적인 의미를 표현 할 수 있었고, 단순한 실루엣과 결합하여 같은 색깔의 실이지만 굵기를 달리하여 스트레이트 스티칭 기법으로 중첩, 반복하여 사용함으로써 상징적인 의미를 효과적으로 부각 시킬 수 있었다. 넷째, 호안미로에 나타난 선적 조형미는 머신 스티칭 기법을 사용해 붓으로 그린 듯한 드로잉적인 선의 표현이 가능했고 여러 소재를 활용해서 아플리케와 패치워크의 기법을 결합한 머신 스티칭 기법을 통해 다양한 재질감을 개발 할 수 있었다. 이로써 본 연구는 호안미로 회화의 조형적 특징인 구성의 단순성, 안정된 선, 강렬한 원색을 패션에 접목하여 작품을 제작함으로써 패션 디자인 영역에 무한한 가능성을 제시하고 현대 패션 산업의 발전에 기여 하고자 하였다. 또한 머신 스티칭 장식을 다양하게 모색 연구하여 보다 차별화된 고부가가치의 소재를 다양화 시킴으로써 패션과 회화가 접목하는 기회가 많아 지기를 바란다.
