Abstract
The reaction of ZnSO4 with 2,2′-dipyridylamine (Hdpa) results in a coordination polymer 1 while other zinc(II) salts (bromide 2 or benzoateanions 3) produce usually monomers which can generate hydrogen-bonded polymers. The coordination polymer 1 and hydrogen-bonded polymer 2 have shown, surprisingly, unusual heterogeneous catalytic activities on transesterification reaction of esters, but the monomeric compound 3 catalyzed the reaction homogeneously. © 2006 Elsevier B.V.
