사이 톰블리(Cy Twombly)의 낙서드로잉 작품을 응용한 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

예술은 더 이상 접근하기 어려운 분야가 아닌 실생활의 한 부분으로 자리하고 있는 요즘 현대사회에서 회화, 건축, 조각 등의 순수예술과 패션과의 접목은 하나의 장르로서 점차 그 자리를 확고히 하고 있다. 이러한 시대적 흐름은 순수 예술과 디자인 분야의 상호 교류와 협력을 통해 새로운 디자인이 요구되고 있으며, 이미 뛰어난 미적가치를 지니고 있는 예술 작품을 의상에 활용하는 것이므로 예술작품에 더 큰 가치를 부여할 뿐만 아니라 , 또 하나의 창작품을 탄생시킨다. 이에 본 연구는 낙서드로잉 작가 사이 톰블리의 작품을 응용한 패션디자인으로 사이 톰블리의 작품 형성 과정을 이해하고 작품을 연구, 분석함으로써 사이 톰블리에 나타난 조형성을 응용한 패션디자인으로 제시하고자 한다. 사이 톰블리의 낙서드로잉은 내적 갈등 및 심리 표현을 추상적으로 나타내고 있는 작품으로 블랙과 화이트의 컬러대비를 이용한 낙서드로잉과 붉은 계열의 혼색을 강렬하게 나타내어 고통의 흔적을 표현한 작품으로 낙서드로잉과 색채표현을 다양한 실을 통해 머신스티치 기법으로 표현하였다. 자유로운 리듬감과 다양성을 가진 곡선의 움직임, 또 서로 다른 방향성을 가진 직선의 움직임이 반복과 중첩을 통해 연속적으로 나타나는 낙서드로잉을 섬세하게 표현하기 위해 머신스티치를 사용하여 린넨을 바탕으로 다양한 굵기의 실들을 낙서 하듯이 표현하여 제작 하였다. 낙서 드로잉 표현에 적합한 거친 벽면의 느낌을 씨실과 날실의 조직감이 풍부한 린넨 위에 자유로운 선의 이미지를 더욱 부각시키기 위해 올 풀림을 자연스럽게 표현하였고, 린넨이 낙서드로잉과 잘 어울러 질 수 있도록 H라인의 편안한 실루엣을 디자인으로 작품을 제작 하였다. 이를 통해 사이 톰블리의 낙서드로잉에 대한 특징적인 선을 분석하여 시각적 효과로 머신스티치 기법을 이용해 패션디자인 표현 영역을 확대하는 것에 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구 방법으로는 학술지, 논문, 단행본, 정기 간행물, 등의 국내외 문헌 자료들의 연구를 통해 사이 톰블리의 작품 형성배경과 작품세계의 특징을 낙서드로잉 작품을 중심으로 분석하여 스티치기법의 개념과 종류를 살펴보고 이를 이용해 새로운 소재로 개발하였다. 인터넷, 패션정보 사이트를 통해 낙서 이미지를 응용한 현대 패션디자인 사례와 스티치기법을 응용한 현대 패션디자인 사례를 위해 사진자료 수집 및 분석하는 실증적 연구 방법을 취했다. 이를 토대로 사이 톰블리의 모티브 표현을 극대화 하기위해 스티치의 표현이 강조될 수 있는 실의 굵기를 활용하여 실크 쉬폰과 라미100%(린넨) 원단을 이용해 새로운 소재로 개발하고 사이 톰블리 낙서드로잉에서 나타나는 선의 조형적 특징은 스티치기법을 통해 시각적 섬세함을 효과적으로 나타내고자 하였고, 블랙과 화이트의 색채대비와 붉은 계열의 혼색을 통해 내적 심리를 표현하고 있는 추상적 원시성을 나타내고자 한다. 작품은 총 6착장으로 구성하였으며 롱코트1점, 롱자켓1점, 자켓1점, 원피스3점, 상의 3점, 하의 3점으로 12점의 작품을 제작한다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사이 톰블리의 낙서드로잉에 나타난 선의 조형미는 시각적으로 율동감과 리듬감이 잘 나타나 미적부분을 구현하기에 용이함을 확인 하였다. 둘째, 작품 기법에 있어서는 머신 스티치기법을 활용하여 실의 굵기 변화와 스티치의 밀도와 간격이 선의 조형미를 섬세하고 구체적으로 표현 할 수 있었다. 특히 굵기가 서로 다른 실을 사용하여 시각적 재질감을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있었으며 땀수의 간격을 조절 하여 선의 연속적인 리듬감을 강조해 시각적 효과가 강화됨을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 사이 톰블리의 자유로우면서 즉흥적인 낙서드로잉의 이미지를 강조하기 위해 패션디자인에 있어서 심플하면서도 편안한 H라인 실루엣으로 제시하였으며 디테일 표현에 있어서는 씨실과 날실의 조직감이 강조된 린넨을 사용하여 올이 풀리는 표현을 통해 낙서드로잉의 즉흥적이면서 자유로운 이미지를 강조할 수 있었다. 넷째, 사이 톰블리 낙서드로잉의 작품에 나타난 색채의 조형적 특징은 작가의 내면세계를 상징적으로 표현하고 있었으며 이는 블랙과 화이트 그리고 붉은 계열의 혼색을 통해 컬러대비를 강하게 표현하고 있었다. 이러한 컬러대비들은 상징적인 표현을 강조하기 위해서 세로로 흘러내리는 레드와 블랙을 스트레이트 스티치 표현기법으로 중첩을 반복하여 섬세하고 효과적으로 잘 나타남을 확인 하였다. 본 연구는 사이 톰블리의 낙서드로잉 작품의 조형적 특징을 패션디자인에 모티브로 응용하여 스티치기법을 사용하여 총6벌의 작품 제작함으로써 낙서드로잉이 갖고 있는 자유롭고 즉흥적인 이미지의 조형성을 활용하여 예술적 차원으로써의 패션디자인의 새로운 발상법의 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.;Modern Fashion has become the representative culture of the period representing the individual characteristic. Not to mention people simply wear clothing assigning aesthetic values with cooperation with diverse field. Today’s art has become a crucial part of daily lives rather than an independent, secluded, and inaccessible entity. The grafting of fashion and pure art such as sculpture, construction and painting has consolidated its status as a genre. Such trend of the period requires new design achieved by mutual interchange and cooperation between pure art and design field, resulting in a factor to creative fashion design. Hence, this research utilized the work of Cy Twombly who is an a doodle drawing artist as motif of fashion design. Cy Twombly’s doodle drawing work demonstrates emotional expression in an abstract way. Also, it meets the requirements needed to express doodle drawing with the strong repetition of straight lines and curves via free-form stitch. Twombly demonstrated hieroglyphics of agony as a vestige by counterpoint of lines and colors of the work in order to reanimate the original emotions of human. These vestiges, hieroglyphics of agony were suitable to be expressed by stitch technique. Also, Silk chiffon, which can delicately express doodle drawing and strings of diverse thickness will be used to produce the motif. the purpose of the research is to express linear aesthetic value of a sculpture by analyzing the characteristics of Cy Twombly‘s doodle drawing. Also, the possibility of developing aesthetic and ingenious fashion design via aboriginality of color structure is another object of the research. the method of the research is to study internal and external literature data such as thesis, books, periodicals, and journals in order to analyze the background of formation of the works of Cy Twombly and the features of his works focusing on doodle drawing pieces. The research studied the concept and the kinds of stitch technique and utilized it to develop a new material. Furthermore, the research was based on empirical study such as analyzing and collecting pictorical fashion web site’s data about fashion design cases using stitch technique. Based on this, I utilized diverse thickness of string, which can accentuate the expression of stitch, and silk chiffon and 100% linen fabric and made a new material in order to maximize the motif expression of Cy Twombly. Cy Twombly’s linear aesthetic value of a sculpture was able to be expressed delicately via stitch technique. Moreover, abstract aboriginality demonstrating internal psychology was ale to be expressed via color contrast. Following is the conclusion of the research. First of all, Cy Twombly’s doodle drawing’s structural characteristics are the change of the size, free and continuous curve and clear straight line having a simple directional nature. The line having such structural characteristics is represented in diverse ways such as repetition, expansion, reduction and reiteration. In order to design fashion applying Cy Twombly’s doodle drawing, the work was produced utilizing the stitch technique, which can represent the lines. Especially, the stitch technique utilized in the production of the works are straight line stitch, embossed carving stitch and free stitch in order to express the aesthetic value of as sculpture of the line by controling the pulling power of the upper string and the lower string, the width and density of the stitch, as well as the change of the thickness of the stitch. Especially, the visual fabric sensation was able to be expressed in an effective way by using strings of different thickness. Also, the repeated rhythmic sense could be accentuated by controlling the space between the stitch. Secondly, in order to express the image of Cy Twombly’s free and improvised doodle drawing, simple and comfortable H line silhouette was presented for the fashion design. Moreover, for the detailed expression, linen accentuating the texture of woof and raw thread was used. Hence, the free and improvised image of the doodle drawing could be underscored by the expression of strand being released. Thirdly, the structural characteristic of the color represented on the works of Cy Twombly’s doodle drawing represents the inner world of Cy Twombly in a symbolic was. This represents the vestige of pain through the combination of black, white and red. In order to accentuate these symbolic expressions, red and black, which flow horizontally, were reiterated by straight line stitch technique. This research utilized the structural characteristics of Cy Twombly’s doodle drawing work as the motif for the fashion design. Also, stitch technique was used to produce 6 pieces of work in order to present the possibility of idea expression method in fashion design in the aesthetic sense utilizing the free and improvised image’s structural characteristic, which the doodle drawing has.
