반복 행위를 통한 가변적 형태 표현 연구

Abstract

인간은 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 현재에 이르기까지 스스로에 대해 물음을 갖고 여러 방법으로 존재를 표현해왔다. 2만 년 전의 동굴벽화나 이집트의 피라미드, 그리스의 거대한 신전 등을 통해서 우리는 과거부터 인간의 존재를 드러내는 다양한 표현을 해왔음을 볼 수 있다. 철학적으로도 다양한 이론을 바탕으로 존재에 대한 물음을 던져왔는데, 동양의 노장사상에서는 ‘도’라는 것을 통해 만물과 우주에 대하여 풀어내기도 하고, 이기론에서는 이(理)와 기(氣)를 통해서 인간을 비롯한 자연, 사회를 설명하기도 했다. 서양에서는 소크라테스의 “너 자신을 알라”는 물음으로 무지에 대한 스스로의 자각과 그것에 대한 문답법을 통한 내면 탐구를 하였으며, 그의 제자인 플라톤은 ‘이데아’라는 이원론적 세계관을 통해 인간의 존재를 이야기하기도 했다. 스콜라 철학은 중세의 진리라고 믿었던 기독교 신앙에 이성적 근거를 바탕으로 인간존재를 설명해왔다. 그 이후의 사회는 과학의 급진적인 발전으로 절대적인 신을 통해서만 설명되던 것들이 과학을 통해 설명되었고, 사람들은 인간 존재에 더 집중하여 근세 철학을 지나 현대 철학에 이르기까지 존재에 대한 다양한 철학적 탐구를 이어왔다. 이러한 탐구를 통하여 존재는 인간이 살고 있는 것에서부터 살아가는 동안 계속해서 스스로에게 끝없는 물음을 던지게 함을 알 수 있다. 그리고 그 물음의 답을 찾기 위해 인간은 스스로를 깊이 돌아보게 되고, 끝없는 물음의 결과가 행위로써 표출되어진다. 이러한 행위는 예술가에 있어 여러 가지 작품으로 표현되었다. 본 연구자는 인간의 행위가 존재에 대한 끊임없는 물음이라는 것을 바탕으로, 반복적 행위를 통하여 자신의 존재에 대한 자의적 물음으로 빚어지는 행위 표현을 보여주고자 한다. 또한 표현의 결과물인 작품을 ‘행위의 반복’과 ‘유기적 형태와 파란색’, ‘가변적 재료’를 통하여 설명하였다. 이와 같이 본 연구의 목적은 반복적 행위를 바탕으로 스스로가 시간 안에서 존재하고 있음을 확인하고, 그것을 작품으로 표현함에 있다.;Humans have consistently questioned themselves, and expressed their existence in a variety of ways throughout time. This is demonstrated in the cave paintings of early man, the pyramids of Egypt, and the great temple of Greece. Humans have also posed questions on their existence in philosophical terms based on various theories; in the East, Taoism perceived all things and the universe through the concept of ‘Tao’, and the li-Qi theory explained human beings, nature, and society through the concept of ‘principle’ and ‘material force’. In the West, people explored their inner self through self-awareness of ignorance using Socrates’s“know thyself”theory, accompanied by The Socratic Method. His disciple Plato discussed human existence through his dualistic world view known as‘idea’. Moreover, Scholasticism explained human beings based on rational grounds of Christianity which they believed as the truth during medieval times. In modern times, with the rapid development of science, things that have been understood through the absolute God, something that can be explained through science. People persisted with their various philosophical investigations on their existence from modern philosophy all the way to contemporary philosophy. Through investigation, existence is a topic that has made people raise endless questions since their very beginning. In order to find the answers to their questions, people have reflected on the topic of existence. This reflection is represented by pieces of art created by various artists throughout history. This research expresses human behavior of constant repetitive and arbitrary questioning of self existence. This idea is expressed through the works, ‘The Repetition of Acts’, ‘Organic Shapes and the Blue’, and ‘A Flexible Material“. The purpose of this study is to confirm our existence in time through repeated action, and express this idea through creative art.
