Abstract

This textbook seeks to find a balance in English education by providing an opportunity for developing the target students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through authentic reading materials like magazines and newspapers. The target learners are first year students at a co-ed high school in Seoul, Korea. There are six boys and six girls and class will take place twice a week at the school library as an after-school English program. The goal of this text book is to provide a well-balanced English education by helping the target students to develop their receptive and productive skills. Furthermore, students will not only obtain higher achievement results in their English classes, but they will also enhance their overall communicative competence in English.
