Dmitri Shostakovich의 Sonata in d minor Op. 40 for Cello and Piano에 관한 분석 연구

Abstract

쇼스타코비치는 후기 낭만파의 음악가이자 러시아를 대표하는 음악가 중 한사람이다. 그는 정치적인 혼란이 계속되던 시기에서 성장하였고, 20세기 모더니즘의 영향을 받기도 하였다. 그는 이러한 상황을 반영하여 교향곡, 실내악곡, 오페라, 영화 음악 등 다양한 장르의 작품들을 작곡하였다. 본 논문에서 다루게 될 첼로 소나타는 1934년 작곡된 곡으로, 쇼스타코비치의 유일한 첼로 소나타이며, 당시 정치적, 사회적 상황을 작품에 반영하고, 사회주의 리얼리즘과 서구 음악의 영향에 따른 현대적인 음악양식이 대조를 이루던 시기에 이 두 가지를 절충하고자 했던 작품이다. 이 곡은 고전적인 소나타 형식인 4악장으로 구성되어 있고, 제 1악장은 종결부를 가진 소나타 형식, 제 2악장은 왈츠풍의 복합 3부분형식, 제 3악장은 3부분형식, 제 4악장은 론도 형식으로 각 악장은 일반적인 소나타 형식에 기초한다. 각 악장별로 나타나는 주제는 다양한 방식으로 변화, 발전하며 3화음과 7화음을 이용한 전통적 화성진행, 단순한 리듬, 순차 진행과 도약 진행이 배치된 선율 등의 고전적 음악 요소와 비화성음의 사용, 반음계적 진행, 관계 조 이외로의 전조 등의 현대적 음악 요소가 적절히 조화를 이루고 있다. 또한 글리산도, 피치카토, 약음기사용 등의 다양한 첼로 주법을 활용하였다.본 논문은 이해를 돕기 위해 쇼스타코비치의 생애와 음악세계에 대해 살펴본 후, 첼로 소나타의 주제, 형식, 리듬, 화성 등에 기초하여 전통적 음악 요소와 이 시대의 음악 요소의 측면에서 분석하여 작곡가의 의도와 이 곡의 전개 방식을 연구하고자 한다.;This paper analyzes Sonata in d minor Op. 40 for Cello and Piano of D. Shostakovich(1906-1975). In September, 1906, Shostakovich, born in St. Petersburg, was one of the greatest Russian composers. He, learning music from a child, composed various genres of music based on his talents. In the era of Socialistic Realism, he had continued his musical activity, suppressed by the Stalin Government, which resulted in the new form of the music, a fusion of the classical musical factors and modern ones. Cello Sonata in d minor Op. 40, composed in 1934, is the sole Cello Sonata that he had composed ever. This is a typical Sonata made of four movements, which consists of the first movement of a sonata form, the second of a compound ternary form with a fast tempo, the third of a ternary form with a slow tempo, and the fourth of a rondo form. The theme is running through each of movements, going through transformation and improvement. This sonata seems to stick to classical traditional formally and tonally. However, in detail, modern characteristics, such as the use of nonharmonic tones, a chromatic scale, modulation from non-related keys, are represented effectively through the piece. Furthermore, modern cello playing styles, such as harmonics, glissando, and pizzicato, are used as well. Even though he was in a chaotic state in terms of the era and politic at the time he composed this, he tried to embrace the hardship as a shift of the artistic world of him and created his own artistic style, modern and still classical. Cello Sonata in d minor Op. 40 is the one of Shostakovich’s pieces that reflects his musicality despite all the hardships and represents the combination of classical and modern musical factors in balance.
