고등학교 남학생에서 건강변인과 폭력적 성향 간의 상관성에 관한 연구

Abstract

최근 우리사회는 청소년 범죄율이 증가하고 범죄유형도 심각해지고 있다. 청소년 범죄가 지속적으로 증가하여 사회 문제를 일으키므로 청소년 범죄 중 많은 비율을 차지하는 고등학교 남학생의 폭력성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하여 관리할 필요가 있다. 수년간 청소년의 폭력적 성향에 대한 다양한 연구가 수행되어 왔으나, 그 동안의 연구는 주로 가정이나 학교 등 사회 집단적 환경 및 매스미디어, 인터넷 등 생활 환경적 측면에 집중하였으며, 청소년의 폭력적 성향을 건강 변인과 연관 지어 수행한 연구는 많지 않았다. 본 연구는 우리나라 고등학교 남학생의 건강 변인과 폭력적 성향 간 상관관계를 연구하여, 건강 변인을 통해 청소년의 잠재 폭력 성향에 대하여 올바로 인지함으로써 청소년의 정서 조절 관리와 건강 변인 교정이 적절히 이루어질 수 있도록 기초 정보를 제공하고자 하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 대도시 소재 고등학교 남학생을 대상으로 설문지를 이용하여 조사·분석한 예비 연구 결과이며, 폭력적 성향에 대한 설문 문항은 “The Aggression Questionnaire(Buss and Perry, 1992)”에 따라 총 4가지 영역(신체적 폭력성, 언어적 폭력성, 분노성향, 적대감)으로 나누어, 각 문항에 대하여 정도에 따라서 1에서 5까지 표현하게 하였으며, 폭력적 성향과 관련이 있을 것으로 생각되는 인자로 사회 인구학적 특성(부모님의 학업에 대한 관심, 부모님의 건강에 대한 관심, 친구 수, 다른 활동, 성적) 및 건강 변인(흡연, 음주, 카페인, 규칙적 운동, 질환, 약물)에 대하여 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 우리나라 고등학교 남학생의 폭력적 성향과 관련이 있는 인자는 정신질환, 척추측만, 체중, 음주유무, 카페인, 통증 등이었다. 그리고 정신질환이 있는 학생이 없는 학생보다 언어적 폭력성, 분노성향, 적대감이 더 높았다. 척추측만이 있는 학생이 없는 학생보다 모든 영역에서 더 높은 폭력성을 보였다. 또한, 체중이 높은 학생은 그렇지 않은 학생보다 신체적 폭력성, 분노성향, 적대감이 유의하게 높았다. 음주하는 학생은 음주를 하지 않은 학생보다 신체적 폭력성, 분노성향, 적대감이 유의하게 높았다. 마찬가지로 카페인을 매일 또는 가끔 섭취하는 학생이 전혀 섭취하지 않는 학생보다 신체적 폭력성, 언어적 폭력성이 유의하게 높았다. 두통 또는 요통이 있는 학생이 그렇지 않은 학생보다 분노성향이 유의하게 높았다. 따라서 고등학교 남학생의 폭력성을 낮추기 위하여, 정신질환, 척추측만, 체중, 음주, 카페인, 통증을 정서 조절 관리 및 약물을 통하여 건강 변인을 관리할 필요가 있다.;For years, wide variety of studies have demonstrated the related factors for the aggression of the youth. Mostly, they focused on the subjects' social groups like home and school, or on the life environment such as exposure to mass-media and internet addiction. However, little was known about the possible association between the aggression of the youth and their health behavior. The present study is to examine correlation between the health behavioral factors and the aggression of Korean high school students, in order to help perform proper emotion-control program and correct bad health behavior via timely recognition of potential aggression of the youth through observation of their health behavior. This is a pilot study conducted a survey of 555 high school students in one province, Korea. Students have answered for a questionnaire which includes 29 questions of four categories to assess their aggression, that is a translated version of「The Aggression Questionnaire(Buss and Perry, 1992)」, the widely-used measure for aggression. Demographic information and health behavioral characteristics were also collected together. The study revealed the factors associated with the aggression of Korean high school students were scoliosis, psychotic disorder, body weight, alcohol, caffeine and pain. The results of regression analysis show a consistent correlation between aggression of the students and health behavioral factors such as scoliosis, psychotic disorder, body weight, alcohol, caffeine and pain but the causal relationship is not obvious.
