현장체험학습에 적극적인 “열혈” 과학교사들에 대한 사례 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate features of “enthusiastic” science teachers who are active field trips. This study is to discover their motives, beliefs, and practices in field trips. In addition, this study analyze professional development related to field trips. The results of this study are explained in the following paragraphs. First of all, looking at the case of “enthusiastic” science teachers who are active field trips, teacher Lee is a teacher emphasizing the process of scientific thinking through the field trip. Teacher Woo is focusing on students to expand their experience through the field trip. Teacher Jeong attract students in the field trip through allowing students to engage in the activities firsthand and believe that the field trip would build students' character. Teacher Seol focus on students to have nature friendly manner by familiarizing students with the forest through continuous forest field trips. These four “enthusiastic” science teachers who participated in the research are teachers with past experience in field trips and they have their own educational value and beliefs about field trips. Moreover, “enthusiastic” science teachers are teachers who give much thought on field trips, have educational beliefs, and give continuous effort to strengthen their ability and to vitalize field trips. The results of this study show in depth research of “enthusiastic” science teachers who are active in field trips. By providing the results, it is possible to determine features of “enthusiastic” science teachers who are active field trips. And it will be a turning point for teachers who recognize the importance of field trips but have difficulty in implementing field trips.;본 연구의 목적은 현장체험학습에 적극적인 “열혈” 과학교사들의 특징에 대하여 알아보기 위하여 “열혈” 과학교사들을 대상으로 그들의 사례 분석을 통해 현장체험학습을 하게 된 동기와 현장체험학습에 대한 그들의 신념과 실천, 그리고 현장체험학습 관련 전문성 계발을 위한 노력에 대하여 알아보았다. 본 연구는 인천과 경기 지역에서 근무하는 초·중·고등학교 과학교사 4명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 면담과 참여관찰을 통해 이루어졌다. 면담의 경우 작성한 면담 질문 내용을 기본으로 하여 반구조화된 면담으로 진행되었고, 면담 내용은 녹음 후 전사하여 분석하였다. 참여관찰의 경우 연구 참여자의 동의하에 실시되었으며, 일부 활동 내용은 녹화하여 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 얻은 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 현장체험학습에 적극적인 4명의 “열혈” 과학교사들의 사례를 살펴본 결과, 이상민 교사는 현장체험학습을 통한 과학적 사고 과정을 중요하게 생각하는 교사였고, 우석훈 교사는 현장체험학습을 통해 학생들의 경험의 장을 넓혀주는 것을 중요하게 생각하는 교사였다. 정재윤 교사는 현장체험학습에서의 직접 경험을 통해 학생들의 흥미를 유발하고, 인성 교육이 이루어질 수 있다는 점을 중요하게 생각하는 교사였고, 설수민 교사는 지속적인 숲 현장체험학습을 통해 학생들이 숲에 익숙해지고 자연친화적 태도를 형성하는 것을 중요하게 생각하는 교사였다. 이러한 4명의 연구 참여 과학교사들의 사례 분석을 통해 알아본 현장체험학습에 적극적인 “열혈” 과학교사들의 특징은 현장체험학습의 중요성을 인식하게 된 과거 경험이 있었고, 현장체험학습에 대한 자신만의 교육적 가치와 신념을 갖고 있었다. 그리고 현장체험학습에 적극적인“열혈” 과학교사들은 현장체험학습에 대한 고민과 교육적 신념을 실천하고 있었고, 현장체험학습 실시를 위한 교사로서의 역량 강화와 현장체험학습의 활성화를 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있었다. 본 연구는 현장체험학습에 적극적인 “열혈” 과학교사들의 특징을 알아보기 위하여 “열혈” 과학교사들의 사례를 구체적으로 살펴봄으로써 교육현장에서 현장체험학습의 필요성은 인식하고 있으나 실시에 있어서 어려움을 느끼고 있는 과학교사들에게 현장체험학습 실시에 있어 동기 부여가 될 수 있는 시사점을 제공해줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
