“만들어진 어머니”를 통한 섬유조형 연구

Abstract

대개의 여성들이 가지고 있는 여성성이란 사회에서 그렇게 되도록 만들었을 뿐일 확률이 높다. 그러니까, 우리가 일반적으로 알고 있는 '여성'에 대한 것은 사회에 의해서 학습되어 형상된 것일 뿐일지도 모른다는 이야기이다. 침팬지나 오랑우탄 등의 영장류에게 행동과 행동에 따른 결과를 학습시키는 것과, 여성에게 아직도 남성중심으로 움직이는 사회에 편리하게 행동하도록 학습시키는 것은 그다지 다르지 않다. 사람들은 인간의 개체로써 대상을 인식하기 이전에, 여성이라는 성별에 먼저 집중하는 일이 많다. 개체의 행동특성을 제한하는 이유에 성별이 사용되기도 한다. 스스로를 동물과는 다른, 사고할 줄 아는 고등 포유동물이라고 칭하기에는 사람들이 가진 이러한 '사회적인 특성'은 사람이 라기에는 동물에 더욱 가깝다. 예를 들어, 모든 여성에게 내재되어 있다고 하는 모성본능은 실제로 '모든' 여성에게 내재되어 있지는 않다. 사람이 가진 사고력의 한계치가 낮았고, 오히려 사람이 라기에는 금수에 더 가까웠던 원시적인 부족사회였더라면 모든 여성이 여타 동물들처럼 필요에 의해 모성본능을 가지고 있었을지도 모른다. 동물들이 가진 모성본능이 대개 그들 종의 보존을 위해 필요한 요소로써 존재하기에. 그러나 사람은 그들과는 달리 종의 위협을 일상적으로 받는 일이 없기에 생존에 필요한 기능보다는 쓸모 없는 기능이 더 발달했으며, 두뇌의 용적에 따른 "문제 해결 능력"의 범위를 벗어난 고차원적인 사고력을 가지게 되었다. 그러나 사회를 이루고 살면서, 몇 천만년에 걸쳐 진화시켜온 고차원적인 사고력은 무의미한 것이나 마찬가지가 되었다. 동종 개체를 인식할 때 개체 자체의 특성보다 성별을 먼저 인식하고 그것을 자신과 동일선상에 두지 않는 것은 동물들의 특성이나 마찬가지이다. 그러나 동물들의 암컷 개체들은 암컷으로써의 일, 그러니까 수컷이 새끼를 물어 죽인 직후 그 수컷과 짝짓기를 하는 행동에 대해서 비난 받지 않는다. 비난하는 것은 인간뿐이다. 인간은 인간의 필요에 의해서 도덕을 기준으로 삼는다. 필요한 부분에서만 도덕을 기준 삼아 자신의 "하위 요소"라고 인식한 대상의 행동하고 제약하며, 비난하고 그들의 사회에서 내몰아낸다. 생존의 필요에서 라는 이유조차 아니다. 대상을 인식할 때는 동물과 다르지 않은 행동을, 마음에 들지 않는 대상을 쫓아내기 위해서는 "인간적인" 요소를 이용하는 것이다. 비단 여성에게만 행해지는 "인간적인" 행동인 것은 아니나, 가장 일반적이고 사람들이 평범하게 인식조차 하지 못하는 행동이라고 할 수 있다.;In most cases of women, it is a high possibility that their femininity is formed by the society, which means that what is generally known about “women” may be the product of learning in society. There is no much difference between making chimpanzees, orangutans, and other primates learn certain acts and their consequences and having women learn the convenient ways of action in the society that is still male dominant. People often focus on the gender of female when looking at women before recognizing them as individual human beings. Gender is also used as a ground for restricting the behavioral characteristics of individuals. Such “social characteristics” of people make them closer to animals than higher mammals capable of thinking and different from animals they consider themselves to be. Maternal instinct, for instance, which is thought to be inherent in every woman, is not inherent in “all” women, indeed. In a primitive tribal society where people had low limits in thinking abilities and were closer to animals than human beings, all women might have had maternal instinct by necessity like other animals since maternal instinct is an essential element to most animals for the preservation of their species. Human beings are not exposed to daily threats as a species unlike them, developing unnecessary functions more than necessary ones for survival and higher-level thinking abilities beyond the scope of “problem-solving abilities” according to the brain capacity. As they formed a society and lived in it, however, their higher-level thinking abilities that they evolved over tens of millions of years became meaningless. Recognizing gender before individual characteristics when encountering an individual of the same species and putting it at no same level as one’s own is a characteristic found in animals. Female animals are, however, not criticized for mating with a male that has just bit their cubs to death as a female. Such an act committed by a female is only criticized in human society. Human beings take moral standards to meet their needs. They take the moral standards only when they need them to restrict and criticize the individuals they regard as their “subelements” for their acts and drive them out of the society. Their causes are not even based on survival needs. When recognizing other human beings, they take actions that are not unlike those of animals by taking advantage of “human” elements to drive them away when they find them unfavorable. Such “human” acts are not applied only to women, but they are the most common and are not even perceived by people ordinarily.
