Abstract
This paper is a research on the deeper understanding of how natural objects living in nature interact with one another and the expression of such thought into my own formative language. I found interaction among the landscape obscured by fog or the constantly changing nature and sought to find a method to express the diverse world beyond the discernible. I have researched and expressed my art based on the perception of the correlation of nature in Eastern thought and theory. First, I attempted to find the common viewpoint between Eastern thought and contemporary philosophy in perceiving nature and examine the principles of nature in the perspective of oneness. The foundation of these principles doesn't differentiate the subject and object. Then, I explained nature's correlative action through Laozi's "the door to all wanders" and Jacques Derrida's "differance". Based on this correlative relationship, I established a theoretical basis grounded in Zhuangzi's 'this' and 'that' that sees the world as indivisible. I thought the philosophy of nature could be a basis for the manifestation of the artist's imagination and determined that it could be realized through a multilateral observation and experience of nature. During this process, the artist can directly face nature and this interaction can be the starting point of artistic creation as well as expressing bursts of creative energy. Accordingly, I examined the artistic style of Oriental painters who have expressed their rambles in nature in their art as though they were on a journey. These artists, who have displayed their creativity using the space in their art as medium, have realized visually, the characteristics of nature in various aspects. I believe that such perspective and style is crucial to expressing the link within nature. My research on formative expressions will examine how the aforementioned theoretical basis is explained in my works of art. I assumed that nature is not an objective subject but a principle that functions as itself, and wondered how to capture its image in a genuine way. I placed weight on expressing the way nature constantly changes in different colors and vitality. As a result, the process of the observable and unobservable interacting in a coexistent relationship was expressed as nature continuously extending or overlapping and the story of nature I have experienced has been developed into a pictorial language. I believe that through formative language, the indefinable form of nature will be conveyed more effectively. So, to the viewers of my art, I think my language will be straightforward and easy to understand. In this paper, I also hoped to illuminate the link between man and nature to awaken the senses that could detect the consciousness of the link. Through this link, I hope that we can expand our perception of nature and broaden the depth of thought.
