예술행위를 통한 자기치유와 치유 공간 표현

Abstract

현대사회의 비약적인 발달로 인해 누리게 된 삶의 윤택함 이면에 존재하는 현대인의 정서적 병리 현상은 각박한 삶의 형태에서 비롯된 것으로, 이는 우리의 내면 공간을 혼란과 불안함이 동반된 심리적 압박감으로 채우는 결과를 초래하였다. 본인은 이러한 압박감을 해소하고자 나름의 ‘휴(休)와 치유’를 갈망하고 있는 우리의 모습을 직시하고, 예술의 치유적 속성을 통해 그에 대한 대안을 제시할 수 있을까 하는 기대에서 본 연구를 시작하였다. 본 연구는 삶으로부터 야기된 무기력함과 공허한 압박감으로부터 벗어나기 위한 연구자 본인의 자기 치유적인 예술행위와 그 결과로 제시되는 치유 공간 표현에 대한 연구이다. 먼저 자신의 심리적 불안과 고립을 예술행위를 통해 극복한 작업들을 살펴보며 자기 치유를 통한 정신적 승화를 경험할 수 있었던 예술과, 더 나아가 타인의 감정 정화를 도모하는 예술의 치유적 속성을 규명하였다. 이어서 부드러운 조각의 미술사적 의의와 연성의 재료와 기법으로 형성되는 시각적·촉각적 부드러움에 대해 서술하고, 여성적 감수성을 내포하는 수공예적 표현방법으로 제작된 조각의 역사와 그 고유의 촉각적인 표면과 유기체적 형태가 드러나는 작품을 살펴보며 수공예적 작업방식의 가치를 재조명하였다. 본 연구의 작업은 주로 손바느질과 연마하는 행위 또는 엮거나 꽂아 증식시키는 형태로 이루어진다. 이러한 수행적 태도로서의 반복되는 행위는 수공예적 기법과 몰입의 과정을 통해 본인에게 심리적 안정감을 주었다. 또한 감정에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 화사하고 따뜻한 색과, 시각적·촉각적 부드러움을 지닌 가벼운 재료와, 수공예적 반복행위와의 결합은 긍정적인 감정 상태에 이를 수 있게 하였다. 이로써 제작된 작품 일곱 점을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 작품의 주재료는 빨대, 스티로폼, 비닐, 깃털과 같은 가볍고 부드러운 소재로, 시각적·촉각적 부드러움을 통해 감정정화를 이끌며 가볍고 밝은 기운이 가득한 결과물로 드러난다. 공기의 무게를 진 얇은 막이 부드럽게 부유하고, 흰색의 가벼운 유기적 형태들은 무중력 상태와 같은 자유로움으로 떠있으며, 분홍색 빨대 조각들이 형성하는 반짝임은 따뜻함을 가득 채우고 있다. 서로 단단히 엮여있지만 연약하고 물렁한 형상은 미세한 떨림으로 살랑거리며, 매끈하고 포근한 봉제오브제의 증식은 꽃처럼 피어나고, 비단실을 촘촘히 수놓은 섬세하고 부드러운 덩어리와 가볍게 떠오른 한 송이의 꽃과 같은 깃털 오브제는 심리적 은신처로 제시된다. 본인에게 예술행위는 치유의 시간이자 치유의 공간이며 일상에서 마주하기 힘든 감각적 따스함으로 다가와 심리적인 긴장을 해소할 수 있는 가볍고 부드럽고 고요하고 정돈된 치유의 공간으로 제시된다.;The emotional illness of today’s people comes from a harsh life style behind rich cultural life based on the rapid development of contemporary society, which causes people’s inner world to be under psychological pressures, carrying confusion and anxiety. The researcher has started this research after realizing people’s state, longing for rest and cure in order to relieve those pressures, and wanted to suggest an alternative for it with the curing characteristic of art. Thus, this thesis is about the researcher’s art practice, aiming self-curing, in order to stay away from lethargic and empty pressures of life and express a place for curing as a suggested way. First, art, offering an opportunity to experience psychological sublimation through self-curing and furthermore, the curing attribute of art, aiming other’s emotional purification, are defined by examining examples of art works, overcoming one’s psychological anxiety and isolation through art practices. Then, the researcher describes a soft sculpture’s significance in art history and visual and tactual softness, created by soft materials and techniques, and sheds new light on the value of art practices in the method of handicraft by examining the history of the sculpture, produced in the method of handicraft, connoting feminine sensitivity, and the works, showing unique tactual surfaces and organic forms. The works in this thesis are mostly created by hand sewing and the cultivation or the multiplication of sticking. This repeated action in an attitude of practicing asceticism has given psychological stability to the researcher through the practice in the method of handicraft and the time of concentrating. Also, the combination of the repeated action in the method of handicraft and light mediums, having splendid and warm colors and visual and tactual softness that directly influence to emotions, leads to reach a positive emotional state. The results of the analysis of seven works are as in the following. The main materials of works are light and soft mediums like straws, polystyrenes, vinyl and feathers so lead emotional purifications through visual and tactual softness of them and make the result to have light and bright energies. A thin layer is softly floating with the weight of air, light organic forms in a white color are freely floating as in the condition of weightlessness and glitters, created by pieces of pink straws, are filled warmly. Softness and flimsiness are rustling in a subtle vibration although the whole elements are tangled hardly, the multiplication of smooth and cozy sewing objects are blooming like a flower and a delicate and soft lump with embroideries of silk thread and the feather object, seemed like a flower, floated lightly, are suggested as emotional hideouts. An art practice means the time of curing and a place for curing for the researcher so it is suggested as the light, soft, quite and organized place for curing where psychological pressures can be released through the emotional warmth that cannot be easily seen in everyday life.
