우화형 송사소설을 통한 언어적 갈등 해결 능력 신장 연구

Abstract

본고는 고전문학 교육을 통해 문학 작품 자체에 대한 학습뿐만 아니라 학습자의 실용적인 언어적 갈등 해결 능력을 신장 시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 특히 본고에서는 현대의 학습자들이 직·간접적으로 다양한 갈등을 경험하는 것에 주목하였는데, 고전소설 가운데 인물 간에 발생하는 문제와 그 해결 양상이 주된 구조를 이루는 작품들이 있어 이를 문제 해결 학습과 연계하고자 하였다. 무엇보다 송사소설에서 개인이나 집단의 이해관계에 따라 벌어지는 분쟁은 현재의 그것과 크게 다르지 않았고, 작품 속 인물의 언어적 갈등 해결 방식 또한 흥미로웠다. 이에 본고는 학습자들의 삶과 밀착된 문학 교육의 일환으로 고전소설 작품의 갈등 해결 양상 분석을 통한 언어적 갈등 해결 교육에 대해 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 우화형 송사소설을 연구의 대상으로 삼았는데, 구체적인 대상 제재로는 <까치전>, <서동지전>, <황새결송>을 선정하였다. 우화형 송사소설은 우화의 요소로 인해 학습자들이 친근하면서도 객관적으로 갈등 상황을 바라볼 수 있도록 하며, 송사의 발생과 결과로 인해 비교적 명확하게 갈등을 파악할 수 있어 갈등 상황을 분석하고 언어적 갈등 해결 전략을 학습하기에 용이하다. 아울러 작품의 결말에 나타나는 뚜렷한 교훈성으로 인해 학습자들이 긍정적인 갈등 해결과정과 바람직한 해결 방법을 내면화 하는데 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 문학 교육적 가치를 지닌다. 다음으로 <까치전>, <서동지전>, <황새결송> 세 작품에 나타난 갈등과 갈등 해결 방식을 분석하였다. 작품에 나타난 갈등 양상은 갈등과의 직접적 관계여부에 따라 ‘주요 인물’과 ‘주변 인물’로 나누어 살펴보았다. 먼저 주요 인물 간의 갈등은 주로 경제적 차이에서 비롯되었으며 송사의 주된 원인이 되었다. 해당 갈등은 논리적 말하기를 통한 해결 외에 협박과 거짓말, 뇌물 등에 의한 해결 양상을 보였다. 또한 주요 인물과 주변 인물 간의 갈등은 송사 과정에서 일어난 비리, 그리고 거짓으로 송사를 제기하고자 한 인물에 의하여 발생하였는데 자신의 처지를 이야기에 빗대어 전달하거나 충언을 통해 갈등을 해결하고자 하는 모습을 보였다. 마지막으로 주변 인물의 내적 갈등은 사건을 목격한 인물이 진실을 밝힐 것인지 여부를 두고 발생하였으며 침묵이나 상황 회피, 사실 고백에 의한 해결 양상을 보였다. 본고는 특히 등장인물이 언어적 기법이나 표현을 통해 갈등을 해결하는 모습에 주목하였다. 이에 작품에 나타난 갈등 상황에서 자신의 의사를 어떤 방법으로 전달하며 인물이 목적하는 바가 무엇인지에 따라 여섯 가지의 언어적 갈등 해결 전략을 도출하였다. 그리고 학습자들이 고전소설 작품 속에서 이러한 언어적 갈등 해결 전략을 찾고, 실생활에서 적용할 수 있도록 언어적 갈등 해결 학습을 위한 교수·학습 모형과 학습활동을 마련하였다. 우화형 송사소설을 통한 언어적 갈등 해결 교육 방안 연구는 다음과 같은 의의를 지닌다. 첫째, 작품의 내용적 측면에 주목하여 학습자들이 고전소설을 대할 때 느끼는 거리감을 줄이고 재미있게 학습할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였다. 둘째, 문학 교육의 관점에서 우화형 송사소설을 분석하여 작품의 새로운 가치를 밝혔다. 셋째, 우화형 송사소설을 통해 학습자가 일상생활 속 갈등 상황에 활용할 수 있는 다양한 언어적 갈등 해결 방안을 제시하였다. [핵심어] 우화소설, 송사소설, 문제 해결 학습, 갈등 해결, 까치전, 서동지전, 황새결송;This study aims to investigate the methods to enable learners to improve their practical verbal conflict resolution competence as well as to learn the novels themselves through classical literature education. In particular, focusing on the experiences of modern learners who face a variety of conflicts in direct or indirect ways, this study attempts to combine the process of conflict solving with a series of classical novels that involve the conflicts and their resolution as the main structures. Conflicts in these lawsuit novels which resulted from the interests of individuals or groups were not significantly different from those aroused these days, and the process of the verbal conflict resolution presented in the novels was quite interesting. Therefore, this study analyzes the conflict resolution aspects which appeared in classical novels as a part of the literature education closely connected to daily lives of learners. For the purpose stated above, three fable-patterned lawsuit novels, <Kkachijeon>, <Seodongjijeon>, <Hwangsaegyeolsong> were selected as target materials. Due to their fable elements, learners feel familiar with the conflicting situations presented in fable-patterned lawsuit novels, leading them to see those conflicts more objectively. Also, the learners will be able to analyze such conflicting situations and come up with the strategies for verbal conflict resolution more easily, since the occurrence and the result of lawsuit makes it clear to see what conflicts are being presented in the novels. In addition, it has its own meaning in a way that the obvious lesson presented at the ending of the novels leads to the learners' internalization of the concept of positive conflict resolution and desirable resolution methods. The conflict aspects and conflict resolution methods which appeared in the three novels, <Kkachijeon>, <Seodongjijeon>, <Hwangsaegyeolsong>, were then analyzed. The conflict aspects which appeared in the novels were classified into ‘main characters’ and ‘supporting characters,’ depending on how directly the characters are involved in conflicts. The conflicts among main characters were generally derived from their economic gaps, which became the major cause of their lawsuits. The conflicts were solved by logical speaking, or sometimes through threatening, lying, bribing and so on. The conflicts between main characters and supporting characters occurred by the corruptions in the lawsuit processes or the characters who tried to take false lawsuits. The characters tended to solve the conflicts by either explaining their positions using allegorical stories or providing sincere advice. Finally, the internal conflicts among supporting characters were aroused depending on whether the characters who witnessed the incidents revealed the truth or not. They were shown to solve the conflicts through silence, evasion, or truth-confession. This study particularly focused on the verbal aspect among the characters’ various conflict resolution methods examined earlier. This study found six verbal resolution strategies according to the characters’ objectives and their communication methods in the process of conflict resolution. Then, this study designed teaching·learning models and learning activities for verbal conflict resolution that will enable learners to come up with the verbal conflict resolution strategies and apply them to everyday life. The study on the verbal conflict resolution education through fable-patterned lawsuit novels has the following implications. First, it reduces learners' psychological distance from classical novels and facilitates motivation by focusing on the contents of novels. Second, the study sheds light on the new value by analyzing fable-patterned lawsuit novels from the perspective of literature education. Third, various verbal conflict resolution methods that learners can apply to the actual conflicting situations in their daily lives are suggested.
