만 5세 자연반 유아들의 음악적 행동에 관한 문화기술적 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 놀이 시 나타나는 유아의 음악적 행동을 심층적으로 이해하고 음악적 행동의 교육적 시사점을 살펴보는 것이다. 따라서 실내자유선택활동 시간에 나타나는 유아들의 음악적 행동 및 음악적 행동에 영향을 주는 요인을 문화기술적 방법을 통해 분석했다. 이를 알아보기 위한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 실내자유선택활동 시 나타나는 유아의 음악적 행동은 어떠한가? 2. 실내자유선택활동 시 유아의 음악적 행동에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인가? 본 연구는 서울시에 소재한 직장어린이집 만 5세 학급인 자연반에서 이루어졌으며 연구대상은 유아 15명과 교사 1명이었다. 연구를 위한 자료 수집은 2015년 8월 18일부터 10월 8일까지 이루어졌으며, 총 20회의 참여관찰과 2회의 형식적·비형식적 면담, 문서 수집, 오디오 녹음, 비디오 촬영을 통하여 이루어졌다. 본 연구자는 현장 약기와 녹음 및 녹화 내용으로 현장기록과 면담 전사본을 만들었고, 유아들이 부르는 노래는 채보하여 악보화 했다. 수집된 자료는 Bogdan과 Biklen(2007)이 제시한대로 부호화하고 범주화하여 분석했다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 하늘어린이집 자연반 유아들의 놀이 시 음악적 행동은 음악적 표현하기, 음악적 감상하기, 음악적 탐색하기로 나타났다. 음악적 표현하기는 악기 연주하기, 발성하기, 노래 부르기, 신체표현하기로 나타났고, 그 가운데 노래 부르기는 스캣, 챈트, 노래로 구분되었다. 음악적 감상하기는 듣기와 들은 소리에 대한 반응으로 또 다른 음악적 행동을 하는 통합적 감상하기로 나타났다. 음악적 탐색하기는 음악적 소리 탐색하기와 신체 및 사물로 음악적 소리 시도하기로 나타났다. 둘째, 자연반 유아들의 놀이 시 음악적 행동에 영향을 주는 요인은 유아의 개인적 요인과 사회적 요인으로 나타났다. 유아들은 개인의 흥미, 목적, 정서와 같은 개인적 요인에 의해 음악적 행동을 했다. 사회적 요인으로는 유아를 둘러싼 교실의 물리적 환경, 친구와 교사, 대중매체, 학급 및 지역사회의 공유된 문화, 교육활동이 유아의 음악적 행동에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 문화기술적 연구를 통해 유아들은 놀이를 하면서 다양한 방법으로 음악적 행동을 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 유아들의 음악적 행동은 자신의 생각과 느낌을 표현하는 방법이자 주변 환경과의 소통의 방법이었다. 유아의 음악적 행동이 단순한 몸짓이 아니라 그 자체가 유아들의 사고와 욕구를 표현해주는 하나의 행위임을 인식하는 것은, 유아의 음악적 행동에 대한 새로운 이해의 관점을 제시하는 것이다. 교사가 유아의 통합적인 음악적 행동에 대해 심층적으로 이해한다면, 유아의 삶과 세계를 이해하고 유의미한 교육을 할 수 있을 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to deeply understand the children's spontaneous musical behavior in the free play time at daycare center. The study analyzed the children's musical behavior and the factors which have influence on the musical behavior with an ethnographic method. The subject matters to discuss are as follows: 1. How do the children generate musical behavior in the free play time at daycare center? 2. What are the factors which have influence on the children's musical behavior in the free play time? The research was conducted at Jayeon, a full-day class of Haneul daycare center, which is located in Seoul. Fifteen 5-year-old children and one teacher were the subjects of the research. The data for this research were collected from August 18th, 2015 to October 8th, 2015, using 20 times of participating observations, formal and informal interviews, documentation, photographing and videotaping. A filed jotting and recording contents were reconstructed by a transcription and songs sung by children were converted into MP3 file. The collected data were coded and categorized for analysis as Bogdan and Biklen(2007) suggested. The results from the research are as follows: First, the musical behavior of Jayeon class was classified by musical expressing, musical appreciating and musical exploring. Musical expressing included playing an instrument, vocalising, singing and physical expression. The type of songs sung by children were classified as scat, chant, and song. Musical appreciating was divided into active listening and comprehensive listening. Musical exploring included exploring musical sound and trying to make musical sound with body and various materials. Second, the factors which have influence on the children's musical behavior of Jayeon were divided into individual factors and social factors. The children of Jayeon class have shown the musical behavior due to individual needs such as the individual interest, purpose includes communication and expression of emotion. Social factors includes physical environment in the classroom, friends, teachers, mass media, shared culture within the class and the region the children belong to and educational activities. The children of Jayeon class have shown the musical behavior spontaneously in their free play time. The children’s musical behavior was the way to both express themselves and interact with their environment. It provides the new perspective of children's musical behavior to acknowledge the musical behavior not only as a physical movement but as a behavior for expressing children’s inner thoughts and needs. Teacher should be aware of the children’s life through their musical behavior and make good use of it as educational data by analyzing it.
