Abstract

본 논문은 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업연주회 프로그램인 로씨니(Gioacchino Antonio Rossini, 1792-1868)의 연가곡 <베네치아의 곤돌라 경주, La Regata Veneziana>, 클라라 슈만((Clara Schumann, 1819-1896)의 가곡 모음집 <6개의 가곡, Sechs Lieder, Op.13>중 4곡, 마누엘 데 파야(Manuel de Falla, 1876-1946)의 가곡 모음집 <일곱 개의 스페인 민요모음곡, Siete canciones populares españolas>중 5곡, 에이미 비치(Amy Beach, 1867-1944)의 <3개의 브라우닝 가곡, Three Browning Songs, op.44>, 쥘 마스네(Jules Massenet, 1842-1912)의 오페라 <마농, Manon>의 아리아 “내가 거리를 걸을 때(Je marche sur tous les chemins)”를 중심으로 작곡가와 곡의 특징에 대해 살펴보았다. 이탈리아 벨칸토 오페라의 선구주자 로씨니의 연가곡 <베네치아의 곤돌라 경주, La Regata Veneziana>는 베네치아의 전통 문화 축제인 곤돌라 경주를 배경으로 경주에 출전한 연인을 응원하는 여인의 심리를 잘 표현한 곡이다. 독일 낭만시대의 여성 피아니스트이자 작곡가인 클라라 슈만의 가곡 모음집 <6개의 가곡, Sechs Lieder, Op.13>은 가이벨(Emanuel Geibel, 1815~1884), 하이네(Heinrich Heine, 1797~1856), 그리고 뤼케르트(Friedrich Rückert, 1788~1866)의 시에 곡을 붙인 것으로 사랑과 자연을 주제로 노래하는 서정적인 가곡들로 화려한 반주가 돋보이는 작품이다. 스페인의 20세기 대표적인 작곡가 마누엘 데 파야의 <일곱 개의 스페인 민요모음곡, Siete canciones populares españolas>은 스페인 민속음악의 특징을 토대로 하여 새롭게 창작된 것으로, 단순한 민요들을 독창적인 기법으로 풍요롭고 표현력 있게 작곡하여 각 곡마다 민요의 색채가 잘 드러나도록 하였다. 미국의 대표적인 여성 작곡가이자 피아니스트인 에이미 비치의 <3개의 브라우닝 가곡, Three Browning Songs, op.44>은 영국의 시인인 로버트 브라우닝(Robert Browning, 1812-1889)의 시에 곡을 붙인 작품으로 음악과 가사의 밀접한 연관성이 돋보이는 곡이다. 쥘 마스네는 19세기 프랑스 오페라를 주도한 작곡가로 그의 오페라 <마농>은 마스네의 대표적인 작품이다. 그 중 “내가 거리를 걸을 때(Je marche sur tous les chemins)”는 여주인공 마농이 3막에서 부르는 아리아이다. 내용은 마농이 자신의 외모와 사람들의 반응에 취하여 부르는 아리아로 마농의 낙천적이고 즉흥적인 성격이 잘 드러난 곡이다.;This study discusses the characteristics of the composers and the songs from the graduation program for the completion of master's degree which included 3 songs from Rossini's song cycle, <La Regata Veneziana>, 4 songs from Clara Schumann's song collection <Sechs Lieder, Op.13>, 5 songs from Manuel de Falla's song collection <Siete canciones populares españolas>, 3 songs from Amy Beach's <Three Browning Songs, op.44>, and the aria “Je marche sur tous les chemins” in the opera <Manon>by Jules Massenet. Rossini, the pioneering leader of Italian Bel canto opera, composed a song cycle named <La Regata Veneziana>. It shows well shows the psychology of a woman cheering for her lover who participated in the gondola race with the traditional cultural Venecian Gondola Racing festival in the background. A woman pianist and composer in German Romantic era, Clara Schumann, corresponded her songs in <Sechs Lieder, Op.13> to Geibel, Heine and Rückert's poems. Singing lyrical songs with the theme of love and nature, this song stands out for its colorful accompaniment. Spain's representative composer of the 20th century, Manuel de Falla's <Siete canciones populares españolas> is newly created based on the characteristics of the Spanish folk music. It composes the simple folks in rich and expressive ways by using ingenious techniques so that each songs expose characteristics of the folk well. America's representative female composer and pianist, Amy Beach's <Three Browning Songs, op. 44> corresponds her songs to Robert Browning's poems. This piece dramatically shows the close relationship between the music and the lyrics. Jules Massenet is a composer who lead the 19th century's French opera and his opera <Manon> is his representative work. 'Je marche sur tous les chemins' in Manon is when the leading lady, Manon, sings an aria as a reaction to people's reaction and her appearance which shows Manon's optimistic and impulsive nature in the third act.
