이토도요(Toyo Ito) 작품의 조형성을 응용한 패션 디자인 연구

Abstract

패션은 시대의 흐름에 따라 예술성에 속한 모든 분야와 융합하여 서로 상호 보완적인 관계를 갖고 함께 발전한다. 패션연구는 역사, 영화와 연극 연구, 문화 연구, 비즈니스 연구, 큐레이팅, 사회학과 다른 인문학과 사회과학 분야를 통합하고 있다. 예술에서도 전통적으로 서로 구별되었던 예술 형태들의 경계가 희미해지고, 서로 얽히고 뒤섞이고 있다. 이 중에서 가장 흥미로운 영역 중 하나로 건축과 패션의 장르 간 융합을 꼽을 수 있다. 인간 신체의 실루엣을 중요시하고 외관의 미적 부분을 중시한다는 점에서 패션과 건축은 공통분모를 갖고 있다. 패션은 인간이 활동할 수 있는 공간을 구성한다는 점에 있어서도 건축디자인과 서로 상호보완적인 관계를 맺고 있다. 인간의 신체활동이 필요한 여러 가지 요소를 담기 위한 기술 구조 및 기능을 중점적으로 이루어지는 예술이기 때문이다. 역사적으로 살펴보면 건축양식과 패션의 양식은 유사성을 갖고 발전해 왔음을 알 수 있다. 이토도요의 건축 작품은 단순하면서도 창의적이다. 이토도요의 작품은 건물의 유리를 사용하여 외부에서의 빛, 바람 등 자연적인 요소를 유입하도록 설계하였다. 시각적인 부분에 있어 자연적인 주변 환경을 건물의 내 외부에서 모두 보여 주게 하였고, 건축자재의 동선을 자유롭게 배치하여 건축물을 단지 조형물로써의 공간 뿐 만이 아닌 예술적인 작품으로 부각시키고 있다. 이토도요의 작품은 시대의 흐름에 따라 변화하는 예술을 표현하고자 한다. 본 연구는 이토도요 작품의 조형적 이미지를 분석하고, 이를 창의적인 디자인으로 응용하여 패션디자인의 표현영역을 확대함에 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 방법과 내용은 다음과 같다. 연구의 이론적 고찰을 위해 이토도요의 건축과 관련된 단행본, 학위논문, 국내외 문헌자료와 학술 연구지, 패션 전문지 등을 살펴보고, 이에 따른 사진자료를 수집하여 조형성을 분류하였다. 1장에서는 이토도요 작품 세계를 살펴보고, 이에 나타난 조형성을 분석하여 패션 디자인에 반영하고자 하였다. 2장에서는 건축의 조형성을 분석하여 건축과 패션 디자인의 상관성에 대해 알아보고, 건축 이미지를 응용한 패션 디자인 사례를 살펴보았다. 3장에서는 이러한 자료 수집 및 연구 분석을 기반으로 이토도요 건축의 조형적 이미지를 접목 시킨 작품을 총 6벌 제작하였다. 마지막으로 위와 같은 연구를 종합하여 결론을 도출하였다. 이토도요 건축의 조형적 이미지를 응용한 작품 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이토도요 작품에 나타난 건축적 조형미는 패션디자인에 응용한 결과 인체의 실루엣과 조화되는 독특하고 창의적인 입체적 형태의 디자인으로 제시할 수 있었다. 둘째, PU소재를 사용한 결과 이토도요 건축의 조형적 형태를 표현함에 적합함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 핀턱으로 처리한 스티치는 곡선이나, 각진 형태의 모서리부분에 입체적 효과를 주기에 용이하였다. 넷째, 핸드 컷 아웃 기법과 투명소재를 사용함으로써 투명과 불투명, 투시와 비투시의 대조적 조형미를 구현함과 동시에 공간감을 연출할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 이토도요 건축 작품에 나타난 조형적 이미지를 패션에 접목시켜 구조적이고 독창적인 의상을 제작하였다. 건축의 내·외부에 반영되는 조형적 이미지를 패션에 반영할 수 있다는 가능성을 발견하고, 인체를 매개체로 한 구조적이고 독창적인 의상 제작에 의의를 둔다. 아울러 본 연구를 통해 살펴보았던 건축과 현대패션의 공통적인 부분을 찾아보고, 이를 다양한 방법으로 디자인을 시도하는 연구가 앞으로 꾸준히 지속된다면 패션 디자인의 표현영역이 극대화 될 수 있을 것으로 여긴다.;Fashion fuses with all fields that belong to artistry along the stream of times and with complementary relationships, they develop together. A fashion study combines history, studies on films and plays, studies on culture, studies on business, curating and areas of sociology and other humanities and social science. In the study of art, the boundaries that traditionally distinguished forms of art are being faint hence forms are getting tangled and mixed up. Among them, as one of the most interesting areas, the mix between genre of architecture and doubles can be chosen. Fashion and architecture have a common denominator in a way that they both lay stress on silhouette of human body and esthetical side of appearance. Fashion has a complementary relationship with architecture in a way that fashion forms a space that a person can have activities. This is because physical activities of people is an art is composed of mainly technical architecture and function that are to embody many necessary elements. Historically examining, it can be found that the style of architecture and the style of fashion have been developing with similarities. Architectural works of Toyo Ito are simple, but at the same time creative. Works of Toyo Ito were planned in a way that natural elements such as light, wind, etc., from exterior inflow using glass of buildings. As visual aspect, it was made so that natural surrounding environment was shown from inside and outside of the exterior, and flow of construction materials were freely arranged, hence the construction is being highlighted as not only a place of sculpture, but also artistic work. This study aims to analyze formative image of Toyo Ito’s works and by applying this, expand expression realm of fashion design. The method and content of this study are as follows. For theoretical consideration of the study, books, theses, domestic and foreign literature materials, research papers and fashion journals regarding Toyo Ito's construction were examined, and corresponding picture materials were collected, then the formativeness was classified. The first chapter aimed to examine Toyo Ito's world of works, analyze the formativeness that appeared, and apply to fashion design. The second chapter investigated the interrelationship between architecture and fashion design by analyzing formativeness of construction, and examined fashion design cases that applied construction image. In the third chapter, based on these data collection and research analysis, in total of 6 pieces of work that harmonized formative image of Toyo Ito’s construction, were created, Finally, a conclusion was deducted by synthesizing above studies. The conclusion drawn from the research on work that applied formative image of Toyo Ito’s construction, is as follows. Firstly, as a result of applying works of Toyo Ito to fashion design, their architectural esthetic value could be suggested as the design with a unique, creative and three-dimensional form that is assorted with silhouette of human body. Secondly, as a result of utilizing PU material, it was found to be suitable in expressing formative form of Toyo Ito’s construction. Thirdly, the stitch finished with pintuck was easy to give three-dimensional effect on the part of edges that is faceted shaped. Fourthly, by using hand cut-out technique and transparent material (PVC), contrasting esthetic value of transparency and opacity, and penetration and non-penetration, was realized and at the same time sense of space could be directed. This study applied formative image that appeared on construction works of Toyo Ito to fashion, and created structural and creative clothes. It found possibility that formative image that is applied to interior and exterior of construction, can be applied to fashion, and it put meaning on creating clothes that have human body as the medium and are structural and creative, hence if common parts of architecture and modern fashion that were examined through this study, are found and if further studies that attempt to design this, are steadily continued, then expression realm of fashion design is considered to be maximized.
