자유학기제 미술과 체험 프로그램이 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

교육부에서는 대학입시 중심으로 운영되어온 문·이과 이분화와 수능 과목 중심의 지식 편중 현상을 개선하기 위해 2015년 9월 23일 「2015 개정 교육과정」을 발표하였다. 대학입시에 매몰된 주입식 학교교육에서 벗어나 실제 삶 속에서 실질적으로 활용할 수 있는 역량을 함양하기 위해 학생 참여 및 체험 활동 중심의 수업을 확산하고자 한다(교육부, 2015). 특히 중학교에서는 2013년부터 시범 운영되어 오던 자유학기제가 2015 개정 교육과정에 정식 반영되어 2016년부터 중학교에 전면 시행된다. 자유학기제 는‘꿈과 끼를 살려주는 행복교육’을 기본 지표로 하여 학생들이 적성과 소질에 맞는 진로를 탐색할 수 있도록 토론·실습·체험수업을 강조한다. 교육과정 편성과 운영은 학생들의 발달 수준과 학교의 여건을 고려하여 자율적인 권한을 갖는다. 본 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정에서 강조하는‘체험활동 중심’의 교실 수업을 확산과 효과적인‘진로 탐색’을 위해 진로 교육을 포함한 미술과 체험 프로그램을 고안하여 실제 수업에 적용하였다. 이를 위한 연구 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 선행조사 및 문헌연구를 통해 자유학기제의 도입목적 및 정책방향을 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 중학교 진로교육의 목표를 반영한 미술과 체험활동 프로그램을 고안하여 학생들에게 흥미로운 진로탐색 프로그램 개발에 대한 당위성을 체계화하였다. 또한 진로성숙도에 대한 개념과 이론적 이해를 통해 중학교 시기 진로성숙의 필요성과 의의에 대해 고찰하였다. 둘째, 현대미술 작가와 연계한 체험활동 중심의 미술교수·학습프로그램 ‘Dreams Come True, 나의 꿈을 찾아서’를 개발하여 자유학기제 연구학교로 선정된 서울시 소재 J중학교 1학년 중 자유학기제 선택프로그램(디자인·공예)을 신청한 학생 28명을 대상으로 총 8차시의 프로그램을 실제 적용하였다. 셋째, 본 연구에서 개발하고 적용한 프로그램을 검증하기 위해 한국직업능력개발원에서 개발한 진로성숙도 검사를 활용하여 프로그램 사전과 사후에 학생들의 진로성숙도를 측정하였다. 이후 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 사용하여 대응표본 t-test 검증을 분석하여 본 연구자가 제시한 자유학기제 미술과 체험 프로그램의 경험이 진로성숙에 대한 유의미성을 파악하여 결론을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자유학기제 미술과 체험 프로그램은 사전검사(M=202.29)와 사후검사(M=226.18) 진로성숙도의 총점을 비교 했을 때 통계적으로 차이를 보였다. 대응표본 t-test 검증 결과(t=-5.485, p=.000) 또한 유의미한 결과로 나타났음을 확인 할 수 있다. 둘째, 진로성숙도 능력영역의 하위영역인 ‘자기이해’, ‘합리적 의사결정’, ‘정보탐색’, ‘희망직업에 대한 지식’ 네 가지 능력영역의 사전검사 M=104.39에서 사후검사 M=116.50으로 상승하였고, 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 본 프로그램에 참여한 학생들의 진로성숙도 하위영역 중 행동영역의 사전평균 9.25에서 사후평균 10.71로 향상 되어 통계적으로 유의한 결과로 나타났다(t=-4.713, p=.000). 행동영역은 진로를 선택하기 위해 자신과 직업세계에 대한 탐색 능력 정도를 알아보는 단계로 학생들의 자발적이고 능동적인 진로 탐색 능력을 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 중요하다. 연구결과를 종합하자면, 자유학기제 미술과 체험프로그램은 자아이해와 진로 탐색 훈련을 통해 중학교 1학년 학생의 진로성숙도에 유의미한 결과를 보여 본 프로그램의 설계에 대한 검증 효과를 확인 하였다. 본 연구는 자유학기제 중학교에서 진로탐색 프로그램의 기초연구로서 뿐만 아니라, 미술교과의 교육적 차원에서의 활용 가능성을 제시했다고 할 수 있다. 나아가 더욱 정교한 자유학기제 미술과 체험 프로그램이 개발되기를 기대해 본다.;The Ministry of Education announced ‘2015 Revision of Education’ to improve the deliberate knowledge concentration phenomenon from the college scholastic ability test subject and dichotomization of liberal arts and natural science that has been operated based on college entrance. The ministry plans to expand lecture based on experience and participation of students to foster capability to actually apply in life apart from cramming method school education buried under college entrance (Ministry of Education, 2015). Especially, the free semester that has been test operated since 2013 in a middle school was officially reflected to the 2015 revision education course and will be executed in the middle school from 2016. Free semester emphasizes discussion, practical exercise, and experience class to search for route that matches the talent and aptitude of students with basic index on ‘Happiness Education to Show Dream and Talent’ For the organization and operation of education course, the conditions of school and development level of students are considered to have autonomous authority. This research applied actual lecture by considering the experience programs and art including route education to ‘Search for effective route’ along with the expansion of classes ‘based on experience activity’ emphasized in the 2015 revision education course. The research contents are as follows. First, political direction and purpose of introduction of free semester were analyzed through advanced investigation and literature research. Based on this, art and experience activity that reflected the purpose of middle school route education were considered and systemized appropriateness about fun program development to students. Also, the necessity and significance of route maturity in middle school years were considered through theoretical understanding and concept about route maturity. Second, ‘Dreams Come True, Finding My Dreams’ art and education program based one experience activity connected to modern artists was developed, where the program of 8 cycles was executed on 28 students that applied for free semester selective program from the 1st year students of J Middle School in Seoul. Third, the route maturity test developed by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training was applied to test the program that was developed and applied in this research to measure the route maturity of students before and after the program. Then, the SPSS 22.0 Program was used to analyze the response sample t-test. Then, the significance about the experience of art and experience program for free semester on route maturity was grasped to derive the result. The result of this research is as follows when summarized. First, free semester arts based-experience program showed difference statistically when comparing the total score of route maturity level before (M=202.29) and after (M=226.18) the test. Response Sample T-test Result (t=-5.485, p=.000) also showed significant result. Second, significant result showed statistically showing increase from M=104.39 (before test) to M=116.50 (after test) in the four ability area including “self-understanding’, ‘reasonable decision making’, ‘searching for information’, and ‘knowledge about desired occupation.’ Third, significant results showed statistically (t=-4.713, p=.000) where the behavior area from the lower areas of route maturity of students that participated in this program increased from 9.25 (average before test) to 10.71 (average after test). The behavioral area is the stage to find out the search ability level about the occupational world and self to select route, and it is important in the point to check the autonomous and active route search ability of students. When combining the research result, the free semester art and experience program allows to check the test effect about this program’s design by showing the significant result to the route maturity of students in the 1st year of middle school through route search training and self-understanding. This research suggested the possibility of application in educational perspective of art curriculum and as the basic research of route search program in free semester middle school. Furthermore, it is expected that the elaborate free semester art and experience program will be developed.
