Reading news articles based on Science themes

Abstract

The purpose of this Portfolio is to adapt Reading, Writing and Speaking with various contemporary Science issues for high school students in order to improve their reading skills and extend background knowledge in the field. Although Korean students are accustomed to Reading, they mostly focus on comprehension checking rather than productive skills. Also, since they are in test-driven environments, they do not have enough opportunities to understand in depth content related to texts. To address these problems, students will be provided with opportunities to focus on Science-based content through various types of communicative activities after reading.
