일상도구의 차용을 통한 도자 조형 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 일상도구를 차용하여 식물의 이미지로 표현한 도자 조형 연구이며, 제작된 작품을 통해 다양한 일상도구가 주는 시각적 재미와 예술품으로서의 조형성을 보여주는 것에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 일상도구는 인간의 일상생활 속에서 생활필수품으로 신체적 활동을 도와주는 것이 주된 기능이며, 예술가들의 조형 표현의 도구로도 이용된다. 연구자는 이러한 일상도구의 기능을 인간의 필수적인 생활도구로 한정하지 않고, 문명에 의해 결정되어진 형태나 용도에 대한 인식에서 벗어나 다른 시각으로 조형화하고자 하였다. 따라서 식물의 이미지를 표현하는 조형의 과정에서 일상도구를 차용하였고, 일상도구의 이미지와 식물과의 결합, 과장, 단순화, 기형화의 변형 방법을 통해 새로운 식물 이미지의 도자 오브제를 제작하고자 하였다. 연구 방법으로써 우선, 일상도구의 의미를 알아보았고 그 범위를 의식주로 한정 지었으며, 그 종류에 대해서 살펴보고, 그에 따른 조형 사례를 알아보았다. 다음으로 식물의 조형성과 식물의 변형에 대해 살펴보았고, 사례 연구를 통해 다양한 영역의 작품에서는 식물 이미지를 어떻게 표현하였는지 살펴보았다. 마지막으로는 연구자의 작품 제작에 관한 내용을 전개하였다. 변형의 표현 방법을 이용한 작품 디자인 과정과 작품별 제작 과정을 통해 작품의 이해를 도울 수 있도록 하였다. 제작 방법에서는 조합과 적재가 용이하고 형태 변형을 통해 다양한 조형화가 가능한 슬립 캐스팅(slip casting)기법을 선택하였고, 형태에 따라 고형주입성형(solid casting)과 배출주입성형(drain casting)기법을 사용하였다. [작품3,4,6]에서는 캐스팅한 기물을 변형하여 접합하는 제작 방법을 통해 일상도구를 차용한 식물의 이미지를 결합, 과장, 단순화, 기형화 과정을 통해 조형화하였다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자는 기존 작품들에서 보지 못했던 일상도구의 차용에 의한 식물 이미지의 표현으로 보는 이들에게 식물에 대한 새로운 조형성을 발견하게 하고, 시각적인 흥미를 줄 수 있을 것이라 생각한다. 앞으로 일상도구의 차용을 통한식물 이미지의 표현이 더욱 더 심도 있게 연구될 수 있기를 기대한다.;This study focuses on pottery molding based on the use of ordinary daily life tools to show the image of plant and aims to demonstrate visual interest and formativeness as art works by various ordinary tools through produced works. Daily life tools have their main functions to assist physical activities as essential items in daily lives for humans, but also used as the tools for molding expression by artists. Researcher refused to stop at restraining the function of such daily life tools as essential life tools for humans but tried to give them images based on different perspectives from viewpoints liberated from recognition of the forms and usages determined by civilization. Accordingly, this study used daily life tools in the processes of molding to express plant image and produce pottery objet of new plant images through transformation methods such as combination, exaggeration, simplification, and deformation of images of daily life tools and plant. As for research methods, this study looked at the meanings of daily life tools and restricted the range to include clothes, food, and housing. We also looked at their different types and investigated examples of plastic arts based on them. Next, we looked at the formativeness and transformation of plant and attempted to find out how works in various areas expressed plant images through case studies. Finally, researcher tried to narrate the contents of producing art works. It would help understand art works through the processes of design and production for each work based on transformation expression methods. The study used slip casting technique that can enable various modeling through easy combination and load and transformation as the production method. We also used solid casting and drain casting techniques depending on the forms. The study also tried modeling through the combination, exaggeration, simplification, and deformation processes of plant images borrowed from daily lives through production methods of transforming and joining casted objects in Works 3, 4, and 6. Through this study, researcher believes the expression of plant images by the use of daily live tools not seen in previous works helps watchers discover new formativeness for plant and present visual pleasure. We expect there will be further researches on the expression of plant images through the use of daily life tools.
