앙리마티스(HENRI-MATISSE)의 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품 이미지를 응용한 패션디자인

Abstract

Abundance due to economic growth and development of industrial and informational society has changed quality of our life. Due to this period and cultural background, today's consumers began to focus on consumption that can show one's individuality by escaping from the existing frame. Modern fashion industry has continued efforts to quickly response to such change and consumers' desire, however in another aspect researches and experiments based on artistic expressive value of design by escaping from stereotypical design due to mass production. To discover new esthetic value, convergence of fashion emotion of different genres or various expressive technique and style appear escaping from the existing frame. As quality level of life of modern people has raised, interest in various arts and design fields has expanded. On the other hand, along with digital paradigm, trend and demand on integration convergence are accelerating meeting between fashion design with adjoining or other areas. Here, this research paid attention to artistic world of MATISSE as the source of inspiration of design and selected cut-out collage works of MATISSE as the motif of fashion design. This research aimed at expanding artistic expressive area of fashion by applying unique formativeness of line, face, and color at the same time as analyzing image characteristics of cut-out collage works of MATISSE with rhythmic aspect, flatness, simplicity, duality, and fanciness, and applying this to fashion design. However, this research furthermore intended to newly recognize and suggest the possibility of painting as the abundant source of inspiration of fashion design. The content of each chapter as the theoretical system of the research is as follows. Chapter I suggests introduction such as significance, purpose, contents, and scope of the reserach. Chapter II analyzed and suggested formativeness of cut-out collage works and image characteristics. Also, examined similarity and differentiation of this research by analyzing formation background of MATISSE's works and the example that cut-out collage works of MATISSE were applied to modern fashion. Chapter III viewed change process of collage, the origin, in order to consider cut-out collage. Also, intended to reconfirm painting techniques, image, and design value that were applied to fashion by investigating the cases of cut-out collage image that were applied to modern fashion design. This research works utilized neoprene and pork rind that were determined to be proper to express image characteristic of cut-out collage works of MATISSE. Also, attached various shape parts, derived by developing motif. to the surface of costume with simple stitch just as attaching paper. For decorative effect, total 8 works were made and suggested by applying motif to a design of simple silhouette and shape. The conclusion of the research through work production is as follows. First, as the result of applying and reconstituting two-dimensional image of cut-out collage works of MATISSEUT on three-dimentional image of fashion design, it was determined that varied images were created which appeared due to carving in the round of costume according to view location of appreciators. Second, shape image of dynamic and rhythmical cut-out collage work and strong color contrast effect that has excellent attractiveness could be highlighted with its decorative aspect through simple silhouette and shape. Third, thin pork rind joined by simple sewing stitch to the fabric has non woven characteristic that easily and neatly cut-out arranges the rim just like paper, various color dyeing is available so that could effectively express cut-out collage work image characteristics, i.e. rhythmical aspect, flatness, simplicity, duality, and fanciness. Fourth, soft, slow, and rigid material image of neoprene was proper to arrange and attach various shape pieces that applied cut-out collage work of MATISSE. Fifth, it was confirmed that cut-out collage work image of MATISSE becomes abundant source of inspiration that can easily approach fashion design idea, also, is easy to structurally and decoratively combine formative elements as line, face, and color, etc. with design. The researcher considers that this research could be an opportunity to reconsider that painting could be abundant source of inspiration and motif of fashion design, also, expects follow-up studies that suggest characterful fashion design, henceforth, through variously interpreting cut-out collage works of MATISSE and new expresssive technique.;산업화, 정보화 시대의 경제 성장과 발전에 의한 풍요는 우리의 삶의 질을 변화 시켰다. 이러한 시대적, 문화적 배경에 의해 오늘날의 소비자는 기존의 틀에서 벗어나, 개인의 개성을 보여줄 수 있는 소비에 중점을 두기 시작하였다. 현대 패션 산업은 그러한 변화와 소비자의 욕구에 빠르게 대처하려는 노력을 지속하고 있지만 한편으로는 대량 생산으로 인한 정형화된 디자인에서 벗어나, 디자인의 예술적 표현 가치에 중점을 둔 연구와 실험이 이루어지고 있다. 새로운 미적 가치를 발견하기 위해서는 이질적인 장르의 패션 감성을 융합하거나 기존의 틀에서 벗어난 다양한 표현 기법과 스타일도 나타나고 있다. 현대인들의 삶의 질적 수준이 높아지면서 다양한 예술, 디자인 분야에 대한 관심이 증대 되고 있다. 한편 디지털 패러다임에 따라 통합 통섭의 추세와 요구는 패션디자인이 인접 혹은 타 분야와의 만남을 가속화시키고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 디자인의 영감원으로서 마티스의 예술세계에 주목하여 마티스의 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품의 이미지 특성을 율동성, 평면성, 단순성, 중첩성, 장식성으로 분석하고 이를 패션디자인에 접목하는 동시에 선, 면, 색채의 독특한 조형성을 응용하여 패션의 예술적 표현영역을 확대하고자 함에 목적을 둔다. 한편 더 나아가 패션디자인의 풍부한 영감원으로서 회화의 가능성을 재인식하고 그를 제시하고자 한다. 연구의 이론적 체계로서 각 장의 내용은 다음과 같다. I장에서는 연구의 의의와 목적 내용, 범위 등 서론을 제시한다. II장에서는 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품의 조형성과 이미지 특성을 분석 제시하였다. 마티스 작품의 형성배경 및 현대패션에 마티스의 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품이 응용된 사례를 분석함으로써 본 연구의 유사성과 차별성을 검토, 제시한다. III장에서는 컷아웃 꼴라쥬를 고찰하기 위해 그 원류인 꼴라쥬의 변천과정을 짚어보았다. 또한 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 이미지가 현대 패션디자인에 응용된 사례를 살펴봄으로써 패션에 적용된 회화기법과 이미지, 그 디자인적 가치를 재확인하고자 한다. 본 연구의 작품은 마티스 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품의 이미지 특성을 표현하는데 적합하다고 판단된 네오프렌과 돈피의 활용으로, 모티프를 전개하여 도출한 다양한 형상조각들을 종이를 붙인 듯 단순한 스트레이트 스티치로 의상 표면에 부착시키고자 한다. 모티프의 장식적 효과를 위해 단순한 실루엣과 형태의 디자인에 모티프를 전개하여 총 8벌의 작품을 제작, 제시하고자 한다. 작품제작을 통해 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 마티스 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품의 2차원적 이미지를 패션디자인의 3차원 상에 응용, 재구성한 결과 감상자의 시각위치에 따라 의상의 환조성으로 인해 나타나는 다채로운 이미지가 연출됨을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 역동적이며 율동감있는 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품의 형상 이미지와 주목성이 뛰어난 강력한 색채대비효과는 단순한 실루엣과 형태의 의상을 통해 그 장식적 면모가 잘 부각될 수 있었다. 셋째, 원단에 간결한 봉재 스티치로 결합한 얇은 돈피소재는 종이같이 가장자리가 쉽고 매끈하게 컷아웃 정리되는 특성을 지녔고 다양한 색채로 표현이 가능하여 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품 이미지의 특성 즉, 율동성, 평면성, 단순성, 중첩성, 장식성을 효과적으로 표출시킬 수 있었다. 넷째, 네오프렌의 부드러우면서 완만하고 견고한 재질적 이미지는 마티스 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품을 응용한 다양한 형상 조각들을 배열하고 부착시킴에 적합하였다. 다섯째, 마티스의 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품 이미지는 패션디자인 발상에 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 풍부한 영감원이 되며 선과 면 색채 등 조형적 요소들이 디자인에 구조적, 장식적으로 통합되기에 용이함을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 회화가 패션디자인의 풍부한 영감원과 모티프가 됨을 재인식하는 계기가 되었다고 보며 향후, 마티스 컷아웃 꼴라쥬 작품을 다각도로 해석하고 새로운 표현기법을 통해 개성 있는 패션디자인을 제안하는 후속연구를 기대한다.
