인터넷 미술관을 활용한 감상수업이 학습동기 및 학업성취도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

In the modern society, knowledge and information spread at a incredible speed and get complicated in coexistence with various cultures. Nowadays, it is believed that the roles of art education is to help learners develop an ability to understand diverse cultures and values with esthetic vision and this bring in a positive change in life. Such shift in the role has encouraged art class in school to change, too. Going beyond the classes whose instruction is based on representation to enhance expressiveness, art class has come to have interest in the education of consumers enjoying art and, naturally, art education to foster an ability to appreciate and criticize art came to stand on spotlight. Therefore, it has become important how to teach students appreciation of art. The present study was based on the idea that students could voluntarily explore and experience art through art appreciation class in Internet Gallery using the familiar medium ‘Internet’ to them. Thus it was thought Internet gallery could be an option for art education. This study is aimed to examine the effect of art appreciation class using Internet Gallery upon students’ academic motivation and achievement of art education. With this objective, his study reviewed the literature an precedent studies regarding art appreciation education, examined the education of art gallery and museum, analyzed the section of appreciation in 2009 Educational Curriculum Revision and then designed demonstration class. As the theme of the class, impressionist art was chosen because it is closely related to modern art and it has a considerable importance in art history. For analysis, homogeneity test was carried out the sample (2 classes of the 2nd grade in K high school located in Suwon City) and they were divided to an experimental group (N=33) and control group (N=35). Both groups were given 6 and 5 classes, respectively. The experimental group was asked to summarize and present in graph what was learned from appreciation activity using Internet gallery while the control group is requested to make a graph on what they learned in traditional appreciation classes. Motivation and achievement of art education were measured before and after the treatment classes. First, the motivation and achievement of art education and were improved in both experimental group and control group. Second, the motivation and achievement of art education using Internet gallery in appreciation class of impressionist art were higher than that of the control group. The difference was statistically significant. Therefore, the present study has significance in that it demonstrated the positive effect of art appreciation class using Internet gallery upon students’ motivation and achievement of art education. The author expects that the results of the study will be a base for further research into teaching and learning methodology suitable for various themes and units of art curriculum and lead to developing class programs for art appreciation education.; 현대 사회는 지식과 정보가 빠른 속도로 유통되며, 다양한 문화가 공존하는 복잡한 양상을 띄고 있다. 오늘날에는 미적 안목을 바탕으로 다양한 문화와 가치를 이해하고, 문화를 창조할 수 있는 능력을 길러 삶의 긍정적인 변화를 가져올 수 있도록 교육하는 것이 미술교육의 역할이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 변화에 따라 학교 미술수업의 모습도 변화하게 되었다. 표현력을 기르는 표현 위주의 수업에서 벗어나 미술을 향유하는 소비자 교육에 관심을 갖게 되었으며, 이를 위하여 미술을 감상하고 비평하는 능력을 육성하는 교육이 강조되고 있다. 따라서 이러한 감상교육을 학생들에게 어떻게 가르치느냐는 매우 중요한 과제이다. 본 연구에서는 학생들에게 친숙한 인터넷이라는 매체를 활용한 인터넷 미술관을 활용한 감상수업을 통하여 학생들이 자발적으로 탐구하고, 새로운 경험을 할 수 있게 함으로써, 미술교육의 대안이 될 수 있을 것이라 생각하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 인터넷 미술관을 활용한 미술 감상수업이 학생들의 미술 학업동기와 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 위와 같은 목적을 가지고 이론적 배경으로 미술 감상교육에 관하여 고찰한 뒤, 미술관·박물관 교육에 대하여 살펴보고, 2009 개정 교육과정의 감상 영역을 분석하여 연구 수업을 계획하였다. 본 수업을 위한 주제로 현대미술과 밀접한 관계가 있고, 미술사적으로 영향력 있는 중요한 사조인 인상주의 미술을 수업의 주제로 선정하여 연구 수업을 진행하였다. 연구를 위하여 경기도 수원시에 위치한 K고등학교 2학년 2개 학급에 동질성 검사를 실시하여 동일한 집단임을 확인하고, 실험집단 33명, 통제집단 35명의 연구대상을 구성하였다. 실험집단과 통제집단에 각각 6차시, 5차시의 수업을 진행하였고, 실험집단에는 인터넷 미술관을 활용한 감상활동과 학습한 내용을 정리하여 표로 나타내는 도표 제작 활동을 실시하였고, 통제집단에서는 전통적인 감상수업 방식으로 도표 제작 활동을 실시하였다. 사전과 사후의 미술 학습동기와 학업성취도를 측정하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인상주의 미술 감상수업을 통하여 실험집단과 통제집단의 미술 학습동기와 학업성취도가 향상되었다. 둘째, 인상주의 미술 감상수업에서 인터넷 미술관을 활용한 실험집단의 학습동기와 학업성취도가 통제집단에 비하여 높고, 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 따라서 인터넷 미술관을 활용한 미술 감상수업이 학생들의 학습동기와 학업성취에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 증명하였다는 점에 본 연구의 교육적 의의가 있다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 미술 교과의 다양한 주제와 단원에 맞는 교수·학습방법의 연구가 이루어져 인터넷 미술관을 활용한 미술 감상교육의 수업 프로그램 개발에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
