J. Brahms의 Viola Sonata No. 1 in F minor Op. 120에 관한 분석 연구

Abstract

요하네스 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833~1897)는 19세기 낭만주의 작곡가로 당시에 주를 이루었던 표제 음악에 반대하고 고전주의 음악을 고수하였다. 그는 전통적인 음악 기법을 고수하면서 낭만주의 음악의 표현 및 특징을 자신만의 독특한 색체로 융합하여 그만의 음악 세계를 구축하였다. 브람스는 절제된 표현으로 음악의 순수성을 강조하였고 보수적인 신고전주의의 노선을 이끌어 나간 대표적인 작곡가이다. 브람스는 피아노곡, 가곡, 교향곡 등 많은 작품을 작곡하여 19세기 중반 이후 끊어졌던 교향곡의 맥을 이었다. 그는 바이올린 소나타 3곡, 첼로 소나타 2곡, 비올라 소나타 2곡 등 총 24곡에 이르는 실내악곡을 남겼다. 이 논문에서 분석한 브람스의 Viola Sonata Op.120, No.1은 낭만주의 시대에 작곡된 첫 번째 비올라 소나타이며 브람스의 실내악 후기의 작품 중 하나이다. Viola Sonata f minor, Op.120, No.1은 원래 클라리넷을 위한 소나타로 작곡되었지만, 나중에 브람스가 직접 비올라를 위한 소나타로 편곡하였다. 브람스의 마지막 실내악곡인 이 곡은 선율과 화성적인 진행이 매우 섬세하고 원숙한 작품이다. 또한 이 곡은 비올라 파트와 피아노 파트가 조화를 이루고 있으며, 비올라 파트의 음색이 돋보이는 것이 특징이다. 본 논문에서는 브람스의 생애와 음악적 특징에 대해 살펴보고, 그의 마지막 실내악곡인 Viola Sonata Op.120, No.1에 대한 분석적 연구를 하고자 한다. 이를 통하여 브람스의 작품을 연주하는데 도움이 되고자 한다.;In this study, Johannes Brahms' Viola Sonata Op.120, No.1 in f minor is thoroughly examined and analyzed for musical factor and structures. Johannes Brahms is one of the most important composers in the Romantic period. He had combined classical music tradition and romantic music expression for his works. Viola Sonata Op.120, No.1 is the last chamber music of Brahms and one of the few sonatas for viola. Brahms' Viola Sonata was originally composed for clarinet, but he arranged the piece for viola. Brahms' Viola Sonata Op.120, No.1 consists of four movements. The first movement is Allegro appassionato in the form of sonata movement. The second movement, Andante un poco Adagio, is ternary form. The third movement, Allegro grazioso, also is ternary form in the style of Scherzo. The last movement, Vivace, has the form of Rondo sonata which is based on the classical form. All of four movement were thoroughly examined to understand Brahms' last chamber music in this thesis. This study might be helpful to those who would like to have better understanding and play a high level performance on Brahms' Viola Sonata Op.120, No.1.
