아이돌 춤에 관한 연구

Abstract

This postmodern era that we live in has its characteristics of eradicating the boundaries between forms of art. In recent years, conflation of pure art and popular art emerged. Art trends are drifting to accept advantages from other forms of art and to improve its shortcomings. In this movement, where pure art and popular art are actively fusing and the importance of popular dance is becoming apparent, this paper has been developed to study a representative case on popular dance. The purpose of this paper is to analyze, interpret, and evaluate the choreography of the South Korean female idol group Girls' Generation from their famous songs, <Gee>, <Genie>, and <Oh!> to discover its meaning and values. In order to accomplish this task, I have conducted my study based on "Dance Analysis", theory from Janet Adshead-Lansdale. For research methods, case studies and Dance Analysis has been combined. Case studies on idol related publications and thesis papers were used to demonstrate concepts and characteristics of popular art and idols. With Dance Analysis, details of <Gee>, <Genie>, and <Oh!> has been examined. To accomplish this task, details from news articles, pictures, music videos, and stage clips has been reviewed and the four stages of Dance Analysis, describing the Components of the Dance, Discerning the Form of the Dance, Interpreting the Dance, and Evaluating the Dance has been applied. The three following conclusions can be drawn from this study: First, the dance emphasizes cuteness and sexiness to attract male fans. Second, the dance moves are highly repetitive, which makes it easy to pick up, appealing to the mass, exciting and enjoyable with popularity. Third, the easy-to-follow moves are friendly and makes the spectators join to develop an extraordinary feeling of group cohesiveness. In this culture, popular art has significant influence on people. I earnestly hope that this work could offer a complimentary vision for popular dance to rediscover its true meaning and value and elevate its status to a inspiring dance.;우리가 살고 있는 포스트모던 시대는 분명했던 예술 장르의 경계가 허물어지고 있는 추세이다. 최근 몇 년 사이 순수예술과 대중예술 영역은 함께 어우러지며 각 장르의 장점은 받아들이고 약점은 보완하여 통합하는 현상들이 증가하고 있다. 이렇게 순수예술과 대중예술이 통합하고 대중무용에 대한 중요도가 확산되고 있는 상황에서 대중무용의 대표적인 한 사례를 연구하기 위해 본 연구가 시작되었다. 본 연구는 아이돌 걸그룹 소녀시대의 노래 중 <Gee>, <소원을 말해봐>, <Oh!>의 춤을 분석하고 해석과 평가를 통해 그 춤의 의미와 가치를 발견하는 것에 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 자넷 에드쉐드 란스데일(Janet Adshead-Lansdale)의 무용분석법을 기반으로 소녀시대의 춤을 연구하였다. 연구방법은 사례연구법과 무용분석법을 통합하여 실시하였다. 사례연구법으로는 아이돌 관련서적과 논문 등을 참고하여 대중예술과 아이돌 각각의 개념과 특징을 정리했다. 무용분석법으로는 <Gee>, <소원을 말해봐>, <Oh!>의 춤을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 신문기사와 사진 그리고 뮤직비디오와 무대영상 자료를 활용하였다. 이러한 자료를 근거로 무용분석의 네 단계인 구성요소, 형식, 해석, 평가가 이루어졌다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 세 가지로 도출되었다. 첫째, 춤에 귀여움과 섹시미를 강조하여 남성 팬 층을 이끌어낸다. 둘째, 특정한 춤을 반복적으로 진행해 대중에게 각인시킴으로 대중이 흥겹게 즐길 수 있는 대중성을 형성한다. 셋째, 단순하고 따라 하기 쉬운 동작은 관객에게 친숙함을 주는 동시에 그들로 하여금 적극 동참하여 응집하게 한다. 대중예술이 대중들의 실생활과 정서에 미치는 영향이 지대한 시대에 본 논문을 통해 춤의 의미와 가치를 발견하여 대중무용이 대중에게 보다 감동을 주는 춤으로 발전하기를 희망한다.
