Abstract

This thesis divides poet Kang Eun-kyo's world of poetry into the early period and the late period, and then focuses on the poetry’s consciousness which penetrates between these periods, with a view of ‘awareness of life’ through eco-eroticism. This thesis casts light upon the layers of how this ‘awareness of life’ is expanded upon, and the change of poetic perception and its meaning. In Chapter Ⅱ, through the ‘body motifs’ which appear in the early period poems, the poets’ existential search to discover oneself is revealed. This comes from a deep pondering about futility and death which causes a dismantled self-identity. The negative awareness which comes from transcendental futility and death adds ample metaphors and creates more esotericism in the poem. The ‘biridaegi’ whom appears as a ritualistic character connects life and death through imperative language and a process of repetition. It shows strong determination to save the oppressed spirits. Through this process we escape little by little from futility, which derives from death, and the poet’s ‘awareness of life’ starts to come into view. In Chapter Ⅲ, it is shown that poet Eungyo Kang’s late period poems mostly show community spirit, and focus on the bonds between human beings, and their relationships. Kang Eun-kyo's ‘awareness of life’ relies strongly on the determination for change. The principles of motherhood, putting love into action, and sympathy for the small things which appear here let us newly realize the relationships between nature. The depictions through sensual systems maximizes the mutual physical effect and has the characteristic of strengthening the bond between objects and nature. The inquisitive language and process of listing presents the appropriate value which the poet deems important. The speaker and listener, the poet and the reader are all requested to take certain actions. Through this, universal problems of humans, the desolate state of the current era, and a painful historical conscience are all expanded in the poet’s view. Kang Eun-kyo's ‘awareness of life’ overcomes the sense of alienation and futility which appears in the early period poems, and develops into later poems which restore the relationship between the self and the world. The final purpose of the poet, which is taking action toward restoration and coexistence, escapes from the mentality which specifically divides humans and nature, and strengthens the mindset of coexistence. Also, the poems overcome the problems of individual conscience and show the way in which the individual tries to accept the world. Finally identity of the individual is discovered at the same time as realizing the innate value of life. Therefore the ‘awareness of life’ which the poet adheres to also has the value of being an alternative: it can accept and heal the conflicting results of modernism and the resulting situations of death. This thesis, which analyzes the aspects of ‘awareness of life’, lets us understand an integrated worldview: the mindset of life, and ecological understanding, and participation in society. It will help people in understanding the world of this poet, which includes phenomenological, feminist, and ecological perspectives. The poetic characteristics of poet Kang Eun-kyo will become an important part in the future studies of poems, and this thesis will hopefully be related to the studies of the future.;본고는 강은교 시인의 시세계를 전기와 후기로 나눈 뒤 그 사이를 관통하는 시의식을 에코에로티시즘을 통한 생명주의로 주목하고 이것이 어떠한 층위로 확장되는지 시적 인식의 변화 및 그 의미를 조명해보았다. Ⅱ장에서는 전기시에 등장하는 주요 몸 모티프를 통해 허무에 대한 깊은 사유와 죽음으로 인해 해체된 자기 정체성을 확인하고자 하는 시인의 실존적 탐구의식을 밝힌다. 선험적 허무와 죽음으로 인한 비극적 인식은 시에 풍부한 상징과 난해성을 더하고 있으며 제의적 인물로 등장하는 비리데기는 명령형 언술과 반복 과정을 통해 삶과 죽음을 이어주며 억압된 영혼을 위로하고 구원하겠다는 의지를 효과적으로 보여준다. 이 과정을 거쳐 죽음으로부터 기인한 허무의식에서 조금씩 벗어나며 새로운 가치를 창조하려는 시인의 생명주의가 드러나기 시작한다. Ⅲ장에서는 강은교 시인의 후기시가 전체적으로 공동체 의식을 드러내면서 인간과 인간의 유대, 관계성에 관심을 집중하는 모습을 보인다는 것을 밝히고자 한다. 강은교의 생명주의는 변혁의 의지에 강하게 기대고 있다. 이때 등장하는 모성의 원리와 사랑의 실천, 사소한 것들에 대한 연민은 자연물들의 관계성을 새롭게 깨닫게 한다. 감각체계를 통한 묘사들은 상호신체성의 극대화를 이루어 사물, 자연과의 유대를 공고히 하는 특징을 드러내고 청유형 언술과 열거 과정은 시인이 생각하는 바람직한 가치를 제시하여 화자와 청자, 시인과 독자 모두가 행위의 수행을 권유하는 기능을 한다. 이를 통해 보편적 인간의 문제, 현재의 황폐한 삶의 단면, 과거의 아픈 역사의식 등에 대한 시선의 확장이 실현된다. 강은교의 생명주의는 전기시에서 나타나는 세계와의 단절감과 허무의식을 극복하고 자아와 세계와의 관계성을 회복하는 후기시의 양상으로 발전되었으며 시인이 궁극의 목표로 삼고 있는 회복과 조화를 향한 실천은 구체적으로 인간과 자연을 구분하던 사고에서 벗어나 서로 상생한다는 새로운 인식을 공고히 한다. 또한 개인의 문제의식을 넘어 세계를 어떤 방식으로 포용하려 노력하였는지를 보여주며 자신의 정체성을 찾는 동시에 생명의 존엄성을 깨닫게 되는 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 시인이 추구하는 생명주의는 근대화의 모순적 결과와 그로인해 발생한 죽음의 상황들을 포용하고 치유할 수 있는 대안으로서의 가치도 함께 지닌다. 생명주의가 드러나는 양상을 분석하며 전개한 본 논문은 시인이 지니고 있는 생명의 정신과 생태적 인식, 사회적 참여의식 등 통합적 세계관을 이해하게 한다. 현상학적, 페미니즘적, 생태학적 관점을 포괄하는 시인의 시세계 전반을 파악하는데 도움이 될 것이며 강은교 시인의 시적 특징들은 이후 앞으로도 계속 진행될 강은교 문학 연구의 다양성에 미약하나마 한 부분을 차지할 수 있을 것으로 이후 연구와 연관될 수 있으리라 기대해 본다.
