역사드라마를 통해 재현된 전쟁과 전쟁 기억의 재구성

Abstract

본 연구는 2010년 일본에서 방영된 TBS 개국 60주년 기념 드라마 『99年の愛〜Japanese Americans』에서 다뤄진 마이너리티, 일계인의 모습을 중심으로 전쟁과 평화라는 보편적인 주제가 미디어에서 어떻게 재현되어 전쟁 기억을 재구성하는지 살펴보았다. 특히 최근 5년 사이 일본 민영 방송사들을 중심으로 제 2차 세계대전을 소재로 한 개국 기념 드라마가 제작되었다는 점에 주목하였다. 이례적인 편성 패턴과 월등한 자본의 투입, 초호화 캐스팅으로 주목도가 높은 개국 기념 드라마를 통해 전쟁과 평화가 본격적으로 다루어짐을 확인하고 그 중에서도 가장 최근에 방영된 드라마 『99년의 사랑』을 중심으로 전쟁과 평화라는 인류 보편적인 주제가 미디어를 통해 어떻게 구조화되고 또 특수화 되었는지를 살펴보았다. 나아가 『99년의 사랑』을 통해 재현 된 전쟁과 평화의 이미지가 일본 사회로 하여금 어떠한 함의를 가질 수 있는지 분석했다. 분석결과 드라마 『99년의 사랑』은 일본인 1세와 대비되는 일본인 2세를 중심으로 일계인의 사회를 충실히 묘사하였다. 특히 국적은 미국이나 외양적으로는 일본인 1세와 같은 일본인으로 분류 되며 정체성에 대한 고민을 한 일본인 2세를 극의 전반에 내세움으로서 전쟁에 관계되고 또 참여한 사람에는 여러 가지 부류가 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 본 드라마는 제 2차 세계대전을 직접적으로 재현함과 동시에, 제 2차 세계대전을 통해 미국인이었던 일본인 2세가 일본인으로 포섭되었음을 밝혔다. 그리고 그 과정에는 일본인 1세를 중심으로 하는 가족애와 일본인만이 가진 정신적 가치가 있었음을 강조했다. 더욱이 위계화 된 문답식 대화와 실질적인 자료화면의 삽입으로 다른 드라마에 비해 담론화의 생성과 고착이 빠르게 진행되는 개국 기념 드라마에서 역사에 대한 다른 해석의 가능성 또한 닫아버렸다. 결과적으로 드라마에서 보여 주었던 일계인에 대한 관심은 경계인 혹은 마이너리티로서의 관심보다는 무연사회에 대한 일본 사회의 경각심이 차출한, 확장된 인연 찾기로서의 결과이었다. 더욱이 일본과 미국이라는 두 대립 축을 태생적으로 가진 일본인 2세를 소재로 함으로써 전쟁을 논한다는 것은 일본과 미국이라는 지극히 폐쇄적인 틀 안에서 전쟁과 평화를 다루는 것으로, 결국 일본은 보수화된 일본의 시각과 틀에서 벗어나지 못했음을 재확인 하였다.; The purpose of this study is to analyze how the drama 『99年の愛〜Japanese Americans』, broadcasted in 2010 Japan in TBS's 60th anniversary, shows the minority; Japanese Americans and as Japanese Americans being the central figure, how the universal theme of war and peace is being showed through the media and how it reconstituted the memories of war. This study especially focused on the fact that in the last 5 years, within Japan’s private broadcasting system, they have produced foundation anniversary dramas dealing with the World War 2. With the high attentions and its unprecedented formations, patterns, massive capital, and star-studded castings of the foundation anniversary dramas, themes of war and peace was being dealt, and especially through the most recent drama 『99 years of love』, we analyzed how the universal theme is being structured and specialized through media. Moreover, we also analyzed how the war and peace image in 『99 years of love』 have implicated the Japanese society. As a result, we have found out that the drama 『99 years of love』 have faithfully portrayed the Japanese American’s society in Japan’s second generation, contrasting with the first generation. Especially, even though their nationality is American their appearance is classified as first generation Japanese and by putting forward the worries of identity the second generation are facing, we realized that there are diverse classifications within the people who have participated in war. However, this drama reveals the fact that it directly talks about World War 2 and at the same time through World War 2, second generation Japanese, who were mutually American, were subsumed to Japanese. In such process, it also emphasizes family affection and mental values surrounding first generation Japanese. Moreover, through the hierarchic question and answer type conversation and with the insertion of realistic clips, they have closed the possibilities of different historical interpretations that may occur in foundation anniversary dramas. Overall, the interests of Japanese American shown in the drama resulted in the awareness of the Japanese society rather than interests in the minorities and marginal man. Moreover, by talking about war and peace putting forward second generation Japanese who are in the axis of two contrasting countries, Japan and America, is that they’re talking about war in an extreme exclusive structure, thus realized that Japan failed to overcome its conservatism.
