관계, 그리고 그 안의 고독의 징후

Abstract

우리는 타자가 없는 삶을 생각하기 어렵다. 인간은 사회적 동물이기 때문에 삶에는 언제나 타자의 개입이 있으며 이에 따라 타자와의 관계가 이루어질 수밖에 없다는 것을 알고 있다. 타자와의 관계 속에 산다는 것이 불가피한 것이라면 이제 문제는 그 관계를 어떻게 만들어나가느냐에 따라 나와 타자 모두의 삶이 달려있다는 것이다. 삶의 모습을 좌우할 수 있는 관계를 긍정적이고 의미 있기 만들기 위해서는 먼저 타자를 이해하는 과정이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 타자를 이해함과 동시에 타자가 주체의 삶에 개입하는 방식을 알아보는 것을 시작으로 하여 거기에서 주체와 타자의 관계를 이해하고자 하며 이것이 어떻게 드러나는지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 이어서 이러한 관계가 현대사회 속에서 어떻게 나타나는지에 대해 논의할 것이다. 현대사회는 그야말로 역동적인 다원화의 사회이다. 전통적 사회에서 개인의 위치가 선험적으로 주어지며 비교적 변동이 적었다면, 현대 사회의 개인은 수많은 다양성 중의 하나로써 위치를 알아채기도 전에 이미 유동하고 있는 관계 속에 놓여 버린다고 할 수 있다. 다양성과 변화를 기반으로 하는 현대사회에서의 관계의 형태를 살펴보며 개인에게 어떤 영향이 주어지는지에 대해서 알아볼 것이다. 관계가 언제나 자신이 원하는 방향으로 이루어지지 않을 수 있다는 점도 생각해야 할 문제이다. 타자와의 관계는 늘 예측 불가능한 우연성 속에 놓여있다. 다양한 관계 속에서 우리는 많은 감정을 느끼게 되는데, 그 중 고독이라는 감정에 대해 다룰 것이다. 관계의 불가능이나 단절을 경험하는 고독은 단순히 바라보면 관계와 상반된 것으로 느껴지지만 오히려 관계와 고독은 떼어내고 설명하기 어려우며 서로 마주보고 있는 위치에 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 타자와의 관계에서 고독이라는 감정이 발생하는 지점들에 대해 다루고 그것이 드러나는 모습들을 찾아보고자 한다. 본인은 언제나 타자와의 관계에 관심을 가지고, 관계의 모습들에 대한 관찰들을 토대로 작품을 진행해 왔다. 타자에 대한 이해로부터 시작하여 그와의 관계와, 현대사회 속에서 드러나는 관계의 모습들, 그리고 개인에게 미치는 영향과 발생하는 감정까지에 대한 논의들을 바탕으로 본인의 작품을 분석하고 이해하고자 한다. 이와 같이 본인에게 있어 작업의 주제가 되는 타자와의 관계는 관계의 미학이라는 논의로써 다루어져왔다. 현대미술이 관계를 주제로 다룰 때 어떠한 지점들이 미학적으로 드러나는지에 대해 미술사적 논의와 작품들을 바탕으로 하여 다룰 것이다. 마지막으로 예술에서의 관계 미학적 태도를 바탕으로 하여 본인의 작업을 확장해 나갈 수 있는 방향을 모색하는 것으로 이 논문을 마칠 것이다.;We can not think about a life without the other. Since all human are social animals, we know that relationship with others are composed of constant interference of the other. If it is inevitable to live in the relationship with the other, the important thing is to know that our life depends on how we make the relationship with the other. In order to make the relationship positive and meaningful we need the process of understanding the other. In order to understand the relationship between the subject and the other I will start with understanding the other in conjunction with the method of searching how the other intervene in the subject's life. In addition, I will explain how the relationship appear in contemporary society. In traditional society individuals' position is settled a priori thus the position rarely fluctuate. But contemporary society is dynamic and plural and in contemporary society individuals are each one of plural diversities and part of the relationship that is flexible and variable. I will explain how the relationship in contemporary society that stands on the basis of diversity and variation could influence individuals. We should be aware of the fact that we can not build relationship only up by our will. Relationship with the other is always in unpredictable contingency. In various relationships we can feel many emotions, but I only deal with the emotion that is called solitude. The solitude that makes us experience severance and impossibility seems to conflict with the relationship. But solitude can not be explained without relationship. Therefore I will deal with the point which the solitude would occur in relationship with the other and search for the proof that reveal solitude. I am interested in the relationship with the other. So I have been worked by observing and searching the form of relationship with the other through my works. The analyzing of my works will start with understanding the other and the relationship with the other. And I will discuss how the relationships are revealed in contemporary society, and what influence individuals with emotion. I deal with the subject that the relationship with the other refering to relational aesthetics. I explain the aesthetics about the relationships by quoting several contemporary artists and their works additionally. Lastly, I will finish these papers by seeking the way to expand my works maintaining the perspectives regarding relational aesthetics in Art.
