중년부부의 부부갈등, 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 관계

Abstract

본 연구는 중년부부의 부부갈등, 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 관계를 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 인구사회학적 변인 및 여가활동 실태에 따른 중년부부의 부부갈등, 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 차이와 중년부부의 부부갈등, 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 관계를 분석하였다. 조사대상자는 결혼한 지 10년 이상인 중년부부를 조사대상으로 선정하였고 편의표본 추출법으로 450부의 표본을 추출하였으며, 회수된 설문지 중에서 부적합한 데이터를 제외한 후 409부를 자료 분석에 사용하였다. 중년부부의 부부갈등과 여가경험, 결혼만족도와의 관계를 규명하기 위해 이 중, 여가활동을 하지 않는 7명을 제외하고 최종 402부를 SPSS 12.0 프로그램과 AMOS 8.0 프로그램을 이용하여 자료 분석에 사용하였다. 연구절차는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구통계학적 변인 및 여가활동 실태의 전반적인 경향을 파악하기 위해 빈도분석과 기술통계분석을 실시하였다. 둘째, 측정도구의 타당도를 검증하기 위해 부부갈등과 여가경험에 대해 베리멕스(Varimax)방식 요인분석(Factor Analysis)과 측정도구의 신뢰도를 검증하기 위해 각 영역별로 Cronbach의 α 계수(Cronbach' Alpha Coefficient)를 산출하였다. 셋째, 탐색적 요인분석과 신뢰도 분석을 거친 측정 항목들에 대하여 각각의 요인별로 최대우도법을 이용한 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 넷째, 부부갈등과 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 상관관계를 살펴보기 위하여 상관분석을 실시하였다. 다섯째, 인구통계학적 변인 및 여가활동 실태에 따른 부부갈등, 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 차이를 알아보기 위해 t-검정과 일원분산분석(One-way ANOVA)을 실시하였다. 여섯째, 부부갈등과 여가경험, 결혼만족도 간의 구조적 관계를 알아보기 위해 구조방정식모형을 분석하였다. 일곱째, 부부갈등, 여가경험, 결혼만족도의 관계를 FGI와 개방형 설문지를 사용하여 심층적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 부부갈등은 결혼만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것은 물론 여가경험에도 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 부부갈등과 여가경험, 결혼만족도는 서로 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학력과 생활수준이 높은 조건이 결혼생활에 도움을 줄 가능성이 더 클 수 있지만 이러한 현실적인 여건을 극복하기 위한 방법으로 부부가 함께 스포츠 참여활동을 하고 문화예술 관람활동 등을 하는 것이 결혼생활에 크게 도움이 된다고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 중년층을 세분화하여 살펴본 결과, 베이비붐 세대, X세대 간 차이에 있어서 본 연구는 이들 세대 모두 학력과 생활수준이 유사하지만 부부갈등과 여가경험, 결혼만족도에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 학력과 생활수준의 현실적인 여건 보다는 X세대의 특징(삶을 즐기고 합리성을 추구하며 과시보다는 개성을 중시하는 성향을 바탕으로 여가 경험도 적극적으로 활용)이 결혼만족도에 더 크게 작용한다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 몇 가지 중요한 시사점이 있다. 첫째, 중년부부의 결혼생활에서 어느 누구나 직면하게 되는 부부갈등과 여가경험, 결혼만족도와의 관계를 밝힘으로 결혼생활에서의 여가경험의 중요성을 밝히고 있으며 부부갈등이라는 부정적 정서를 감소시키고 스트레스 대처방법으로서의 여가경험을 매개로 사용한 새로운 이론적 접근이라고 할 수 있다. 둘째, 본 연구는 중년기 부부가 직면하는 부부갈등에서 여가경험이 결혼만족도에 미치는 중요한 영역으로 작용한다는 것을 밝혔다. 이를 바탕으로 추후 연구에서는 첫째, 향후 중년부부들의 결혼생활만족에 미치는 변인들을 연구가 필요할 것이다. 둘째, 여가활동을 하지 않는 부부가 만약 앞으로 여가활동을 할 경우, 갈등관계 발생 시 이러한 여가활동이 결혼만족도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지에 대해서도 연구할 필요가 있겠다. 셋째, 중년부부 뿐만 아니라 전 세대를 아우르는 종합연구를 통해 결혼만족 및 생활만족을 고양시킬 수 있는 방법을 다각도에서 접근하여 연구할 필요가 있을 것이다.;This study aimed to analyze the impact of leisure experiences(leisure activities as means to cope with inter-parental conflicts) by the middle aged Korean couples living in the Republic of Korea who are experiencing inter-parental conflicts on their marital satisfactions. For the purpose, the study carried out a quantitative analysis of the differences of conflicts of the middle aged couples, leisure experiences, and marital satisfactions as per different types of leisure activities. In addition, to analyze the relationship among conflicts of the middle aged couples, leisure experiences, and marital satisfactions, SPSS 12.0 program and AMOS 8.0 program was used. The study also executed a qualitative analysis using open-ended survey and FGI. To be specific, the study carried out (i) a frequency analysis and a statistical analysis to find socio-demographic factors and actual trends of leisure activities; (ii) with a varimax factor analysis of inter-parental conflicts and leisure experiences to examine the validity of measurement tools; and calculated Cronbach’ Alpha Coefficient to check the confidence level of measurement tools; (iii) a confirmatory factor analysis using maximum likehood method; (iv) a correlation analysis among inter-parental conflicts, leisure experiences, and marital satisfactions; (v) a t-test and one-way ANOVA to analyze differences amongst inter-parental conflicts, leisure experiences, and marital satisfactions as per socio-demographic factors and actual leisure activities; (vi) a structural model analysis to look into the structural relationship amongst inter-parental conflicts, leisure experiences, and marital satisfactions; and (vii) an in-depth analysis of the relationship amongst inter-parental conflicts, leisure experiences, and marital satisfactions through FGI and open-ended survey. As a result, it found that first, inter-parental conflicts significantly affect both leisure experiences and marital satisfactions; and leisure experiences also significantly affect marital satisfactions. The results indicated that the middle aged couples experiencing inter-parental conflicts were to increase their marital satisfactions by having leisure experiences. The results also confirmed that the couples that have leisure experiences together were more likely to increase the marital satisfactions. Second, both relatively higher level of academic backgrounds and economic standard of living tended to show higher marital satisfactions. Given the similar level of academic backgrounds and the economic standard of living, however, the marital satisfactions were to vary as per types of leisure activities. The study, therefore, suggested that the middle aged couples in conflicts who personally consider their academic backgrounds and economic standards of living low were likely to increase their marital satisfactions by having leisure activities(such as sports activities or having cultural experience) together that were relatively more effective in increasing the marital satisfactions. Third, as referenced by '2013 Trend Korea', X-generation enjoyed more leisure activities than baby boom generation. This study also revealed that higher participation of leisure activities brings higher satisfaction in their marital life, leading to conclusion that X-generation couples tended to demonstrate higher marital satisfaction. Interestingly marital satisfaction seemed less affected by degree of economic living standards or academic background.
