단청문양의 조형성을 응용한 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

가장 민족적인 것이 가장 세계적이다 라는 말이 있다. 이 말은 우리나라로 넘어오면서 가장 한국적인 것이 가장 세계적이다 라는 말로 바뀌었다. 우리 전통문화를 세계에 알리자는 의미를 담은 말일 것이다. 오늘날 전통 문화는 국가 경쟁력을 갖는 중요한 요소이다. 한국의 전통 문화 중에 오랜 시간의 역사를 보여주는 건축물인 고궁과 그 안에서 보여지는 단청의 화려한 색채와 문양은 다양한 디자인 소스(source)로서의 가치가 있다고 생각된다. 전통미가 결합된 디자인 개발은 자국의 문화적 주체성을 정립하는데 큰 의미와 가치를 준다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우리 문화유산 중 하나인 단청문양의 조형성을 분석하여 현대적인 모티프(motif)로 전개 하였으며 레이저 컷팅 기법을 통하여 레이어링(layering)에 의한 색채 대비와 재질감 대비를 의도하였다. 우리민족 고유의 상징적 의미를 지닌 단청문양의 전통미를 컴퓨터 작업으로 가공하는 현대 산업 요소와 결합하여 디자인 영역의 발전 가능성을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용으로는 문헌고찰과 선행연구를 통하여 단청에 관한 일반적인 연구로서 단청의 정의, 단청의 역사 및 종류와 단청문양의 조형성을 분석하였으며 국내외 컬렉션, 패션 전문 정보 사이트 및 인터넷 정보를 통하여 현대 패션디자인에 나타난 단청에 대하여 살펴보았다. 또한 연구의 주요 기법으로 사용된 레이저 컷팅의 일반적인 개요와 레이저 컷팅의 특징에 대하여 고찰하였으며 국내외 컬렉션에서 보여진 레이저 컷팅 사례를 분석하였다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 토대로 단청문양을 단순화하여 깔끔한 이미지의 새로운 모티프로 재구성하였다. 색채는 단청의 기본 색상 중에서 흑(黑)색을 주조색으로 사용하였으며 단청에서 많이 사용되는 주홍(朱紅 Toluidine Red)과 양록(洋綠 Emerald Green)을 색채 대비하여 레이저 컷팅 기법을 응용한 총 6벌의 의상을 디자인 제작 하였다. 작품 제작을 통한 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 단청 문양을 모티프로 하여 단순하게 재구성하고 구조적인 선을 과감하게 활용해본 결과 다양한 현대 디자인에 접목 시킬 수 있는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 단청에서 보여 지는 독창적인 형태는 개성있는 문양으로서의 창출 가능성을 가지고 있으며 흑색, 주홍, 양록에 의한 색채대비는 명료한 시각적 효과를 줄 수 있었다. 셋째, 단청문양은 섬세한 선으로 연결되어 있어서 레이저 컷팅 기법으로 깔끔하게 Cut-Out할 수 있었으며 정교함을 필요로 하는 작업에 적합함을 발견할 수 있었다. 넷째, 레이저 컷팅에 의해 Cut-Out된 패턴의 투시성을 활용하여 접착심지 부착이 가능하였으며 색채대비와 재질감대비를 통하여 레이저 컷팅 기법의 효과를 극대화 시킬 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 우리민족 고유의 상징적 의미를 지닌 전통미를 컴퓨터 작업으로 가공하는 현대 산업 요소와 결합하여 디자인영역의 발전 가능성을 제시하였다. 전통문양을 그대로 가져오는 것이 아니라 시대적인 가치를 바탕으로 재해석하고 재창조 한다면 충분히 전통을 뛰어넘는 새로운 창작이 나올 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 국내 패션 산업이 고유의 민족성을 내세우며 세계 패션계에서 경쟁력 있는 분야로 성장하길 기대해본다.;There has been always this saying that what feels most ethnic is what is most international. When this philosophy was introduced to Korea, it has been changed into another saying that what feels most Korean is what is most international. The main idea of this saying should be, then, "Let the world know the traditional culture of Koreans." Today, any traditional culture of any country is determined to be an important factor to enhance the competitiveness of the country. Among the Korean traditional cultural items, all those palaces, the buildings to prove the longest history of Korea, and colors and patterns of Dancheong are believed to be valuable sources for various designs. Any design development with traditional beauty combined shall add great significance and values to Korea's doing its best to strengthen its cultural identity. In that regard, in the concerned study, the plasticity of Dancheong, one of the cultural assets in Korea, was analyzed which was, then, investigated with a contemporary motif. Through the laser-cutting technique and the layering work, the study intended for the color contrast and the texture contrast. The ultimate goal of the concerned study was to propose the development possibilities of the design field by blending the most original traditional beauty of Korea with the modern industry which would design the traditional beauty on a computer. As a general research on Dangcheong, the study first reviewed the relevant literature and previous researches on the subject and looked into the definitions, the history, the types and the plasticity of Dangcheong. Afterwards, while searching for information from collections in Korea and other countries, online fashion sites and the Internet, the study read thoroughly about Dancheong found in the contemporary fashion design. In addition, the study worked on the general outline and the characteristics of the laser cutting technique and analyzed any cases on the concerned technique introduced in the collections in Korea and foreign countries. Based on the theoretical information gained so far, the study simplified and re-developed the Dancheong patterns with some new, modern motif. As for the colors, among the basic colors of Dancheong, black was used as the main color and with the color contrast of toluidine red and emerald green, the most frequently-used colors for Dancheong, applied, the study designed a total of six pieces of clothes by using the laser cutting technique. The results of the study, determined via the work production process, are summarized as follows. First, after the study simplified and bravely used the structural lines with the Dancheong patterns set as a motif, the concerned patterns were confirmed to have a possibility to be blended with the contemporary design works in various ways. Second, the original patterns found in Dancheong were determined good enough to be re-created as other personal designs while the color contrasts of black, Toluidine Red and emerald green were observed to make the effective visual results. Third, the Dancheong patterns were cut out with this laser cutting technique since they were connected with delicate lines, and this laser cutting technique was observed to be proper enough to be used in any work asking for a sense of elaboration and concentration. Fourth, the see-through property of the cut-out patterns by the laser cutting technique made adhesive interlining sticking possible, and the performance of the laser cutting technique was maximized even more through the color contrast and the texture contrast. The study proposed the development possibilities of the design field by combining the traditional beauty, the symbolic significance of Koreans, with the modern industry which would work the concerned beauty on a computer. The concerned study now argues that as long as the fashion field in Korea re-interprets and re-creates Korean traditional patterns based on values of times, it will someday come up with completely new creations which would be considered truly better than the tradition. In that regard, the study looks forward to seeing the fashion industry in Korea grow into a competitive field as it concentrates on the original national characteristics of Korea.
