음악 교과와 한국사 교과의 통합 지도 방안 연구

Abstract

한국의 예술 가곡은 생성 단계에서부터 지금까지 우리나라 근현대사의 변화와 흐름 속에서 발전해왔기 때문에 우리 민족의 정서와 생활, 시대상을 잘 반영하고 있다. 이렇게 생성과 발달 과정을 민중과 함께 해온 한국 가곡은 고등학교 음악 교육과정 내에서도 적지 않은 비중을 차지하고 있으며 매우 중요한 제재이다. 그러나 우리의 한국 가곡은 현대 사회에서 소외받고 있으며 관련된 연구와 자료가 미비한 실정이다. 그러한 요인으로 한국 가곡의 기본 속성인 민족 정체성 및 우리 정서에 대한 인식이 부족한 점과 시 문학, 역사, 철학 등의 연계성이 부족한 점을 찾을 수 있었다. 다시 말해서 한국 가곡을 활성화하기 위해서는 역사의식에 대한 강화가 우선되어야 함을 알려준다. 한편, 한국과 일본 간에는 독도 영유권 문제, 일본의 과거사 왜곡, 식민지배 피해 보상 등 역사를 둘러싼 갈등이 끊임없이 지속되어 왔으며, 이에 따라 한국사에 대한 관심과 중요성이 크게 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 시대적 배경에 맞추어 우리의 역사를 바로 알고 이해하며, 한국 가곡의 가치를 우리 스스로 인식하고 지켜갈 수 있도록 하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이와 같은 목적에 근거하여 일본의 식민지배 시기에 시작되어 우리 민족의 수난사와 맥을 같이 하는 한국 가곡에 대한 이해와 민족적 소양 및 역사 인식을 강화할 수 있는 한국 가곡과 한국사 교과를 통합한 수업 지도 방안을 개발하고자 하였다. 수업 지도 방안 개발에 앞서 이론적 배경에서 통합교육과정에 대한 전반적인 내용들을 고찰하고, 고등학교 음악 교과서의 한국 가곡과 고등학교 한국사 교과서의 내용을 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 두 교과 간의 연계성을 알아보고 통합 수업을 위한 지도안의 방향을 모색하였다. 교과서 분석을 토대로 1930년대 한국 가곡과 당시의 시대적 배경에 해당되는 한국사 교과서의 <Ⅶ. 전체주의의 대두와 민족 운동의 발전> 단원을 연관시켜 3차시에 걸친 지도 방안을 제시하였고, 포가티의 통합 유형을 적용하여 각 차시별로 적절한 통합 유형을 사용하였다. 수업의 제재 곡은 음악교과서에 수록된 1930년대 한국 가곡인 김동진의 <가고파>와 조두남의 <선구자>로 정하였으며 2차시의 활동지와 3차시의 형성평가 활동을 통하여 수업 목표의 달성과 학습자들의 이해도를 파악하고자 하였다. 또한 이해와 활동요소를 적절히 분배하여 통합교육의 특징인 전체로서의 학습, 학습자 중심의 학습, 경험 중심의 학습, 전인적인 발달이 이루어질 수 있도록 개발하였다. 이와 같이 본 연구는 음악교과와 한국사교과의 통합교육을 통하여 한국 가곡의 위상을 높이고 우리 가곡의 가치와 중요성을 자연스럽게 인식할 수 있도록 하며 나아가 우리의 아픈 역사를 되돌아보고 기억함으로써 역사적 사고와 판단력, 비판력을 함양하고 역사를 보는 통찰력을 기르도록 하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 앞으로 한국 가곡의 통합 교육에 대한 연구가 더욱 활발히 이루어져서 학생들이 우리의 역사와 가곡에 관심을 가지고 민족적 정체성과 역사의식을 함양할 수 있길 기대한다. ;From its inception, Korean Lied genre has progressed along with the transitions and flows of modern history of Korea. The genre carries an acute reflection of Korean national ethos, the livelihood of Korean people, and various portraits of each era it has lived. After going through its developmental phase alongside the general public, Korean Lied is now considered a critical topic matter in the music curriculum for secondary education, and takes up a heavy share in high school music syllabus. However, from a social perspective, Korean Lied is painfully marginalized in terms of the current depth of its studies and the insignificant volume of related materials. As such, the deficiencies of the relationship between the genre and other humanities fields such as poetry, history, and philosophy, can be easily recognized. In addition, the public’s awareness of national identity and national ethos are weak at best. In other words, efforts to reinstitute historical awareness in our society must be made before the revitalization of the study of Korean Lied can come to fruition. On a separate note, recent scuffles between Korea and Japan on a number of diplomatic issues are shedding a new light on Korean history, igniting public interests in the topic. This study aims to assist students in learning our nation’s history in lieu of current events as mentioned above. Emphasis is placed on raising awareness of the value of Korean Lied genre, so that it may be preserved over time. Based on these objectives, this paper profiles a course syllabus that will cover both the study of Korean Lied, and Korean modern history. Through the proposed course outline, audience’s understanding of Korean Lied, which has seen the turmoil that Korean people have gone through since the Japanese occupation period, will be enhanced. Prior to the implementation stage of the actual course syllabus, the theoretical background on the subject matter was researched. All relevant material for the integrated course outline were analyzed, including current examples of Korean Lied that appear in secondary educational curriculum, and chapters from history textbooks for secondary education. From this background research, connections that currently exist between the two subjects were revealed. The integrated course outline is developed in resemblance to these connections. In detail, the integrated course outline proposes a teaching plan divided into three continuous lectures, incorporating a number of Korean Lied pieces from the 1930’s, and a related chapter of the era from the history curriculum: “VII. The rise of totalitarianism and the drive of national movement.” For each lecture, a proper form of curricula integration as described by Robin Fogarty was applied. In particular, the songs that will be discussed mainly during the lectures are “Gagopa” by Dong Jin Kim, and “Seon-gu Ja” by Doo Nam Cho. The exercise problems from the second lecture and the formative assessments in the final lecture would gather information on the achievement level of the course objective, as well as the general level of understanding among students. Also, by varying the comprehension components and the exercise components in the course outline, the syllabus attains several key characteristics of integrated curriculum studies, which entail learning as a group, individual learning, practice-oriented studies, and holistic development of students. In summary, the main focus of this study as an integrated curriculum of music and history includes upholding the merits of Korean Lied, and the status it holds as a living index of the modern history of Korea, ultimately reminding the students of the grievances our people have had to endure in the last century. Via the proposed lecture series, students will learn how to survey events from a historical perspective, and acquire skills necessary for critical analysis and judgment. The expectation is that the study of Korean Lied genre will be invigorated in the future, resulting in more integrated curriculums such as the one outlined in this paper, that would encourage students to take interest in the field as well as our history, culminating in the fostering of national identity and historical awareness.
