서울·경기 지역 예술 중·고등학교 전문음악교육에 대한 교사 인식 조사

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 전문음악교육에 대한 예술 중·고등학교 음악과 교사와 강사의 인식을 조사하여 현재 국가수준 교육과정으로 운영되고 있는 전문음악교과의 운영과 질적 향상에 대한 개선 방안의 기초자료를 제시하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구는 서울·경기지역 예술 중·고등학교의 교사와 강사를 대상으로 직접 방문을 통해서 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구대상은 국악계 예술 중·고등학교를 제외한 서울·경기지역 예술 중·고등학교 교사와 강사 100명이다. 논문에서 조사한 예술 중·고등학교 음악과 교육과정의 인식과 전문음악교과의 만족도는 예술 중·고등학교의 운영상 문제점을 찾는 시각이 아닌 추후에 더 나은 예술 중·고등학교 음악과 교육과정 개발과 다양한 전문음악교과 개설을 위한 기초 자료를 위함이다. 이번 연구에서 수집된 자료는 SPSS 20.0을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구 내용에 따른 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서울·경기지역 예술 중·고등학교의 교사와 강사는 현행 전문음악교육 과정에 대해서 대체로 만족하였다. 하지만 전문음악교육과정에 대한 개선과 연구는 계속되어야 한다고 요청하였다. 둘째, 일반교과(국․영․수)와 전문음악교과의 비중은 50:50으로 동등하게 운영되어야 한다는 교사의 응답이 가장 많았다. 이는 전문음악교과를 지도하는 교사들이 중·고등학교시기에 배워야 하는 일반교과의 중요성 또한 인정하기 때문이다. 또한 교사들은 전문음악교과 내에서 이론교과와 실기교과의 비중은 실기 비중이 높은 비율을 보이고 있는 현황에 만족하였다. 셋째, 현재 시행되고 있는 전문음악교과의 8개 과목에 대해서는 교사와 강사의 만족도가 높았다. 넷째, 전문음악교육과정 내에 진로교육을 포함시키는 방안에 대해서는 절대다수가 찬성하고 있는 것으로 나타나, 현재는 정부나 학계 차원의 표준화된 음악과 진로교육 매뉴얼 작성 및 보급이 시급한 것으로 보여 진다. 다섯째, 예술 중․고등학교 전문 음악교육과정이 지향해야 할 교육목표로는 ‘음악적 식견을 갖춘 지식인 양성’이 가장 높게 제안되었다. 결론을 토대로 예술 중·고등학교 전문음악교육의 개선점을 제언하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현행 전문음악교과 자체는 실기 위주 중심의 현행 기조로 유지하되, 일반교과와의 적절한 조화를 이루는 교육이 필요하다. 둘째, 대학입시만을 위한 획일적인 전문음악교육이 아닌 세계적인 수준의 전문음악교육에 대한 구체적인 계획이 필요하다. 국외 전문음악교육의 교육제도에 관련한 연구를 통한 다양한 교과개발이 요구된다. 셋째, 음악과 진로교육에 대한 개선방안이 요구된다. 즉, 음악을 연주하는 실기 형 인재뿐만 아니라 다양한 음악분야와 예술교육을 통한 창의적 역량이 필요한 분야에서 두각을 나타낼 비실기형 음악인재양성에도 국가선도의 교육적 연구개발과 관심이 필요하다. 본 연구를 통해 음악인재 양성을 위해 세워질 전문음악교육의 교육적 토대에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of music teachers and instructors in arts middle and high schools about professional music education in an attempt to provide some information on the managerial and qualitative improvement of specialized music subjects of the national curriculum. The subjects in this study were 100 teachers and instructors in arts middle and high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Arts secondary schools that offered Korean classical music education in these regions were excluded. After a survey was conducted in person, the collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS 20.0. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the teachers and instructors who worked in arts middle and high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were satisfied with the current professional music curriculum in general. Yet they asked for continuing improvement of the curriculum and related research efforts. Second, the largest group of the teachers and instructors replied that the weight of general subjects(language arts, English and mathematics) and that of specialized music subjects should be 50:50. And they were satisfied with the fact that among specialized music subjects, the weight of practical subjects was larger than that of theoretical subjects. Third, the teachers and instructors expressed a lot of satisfaction with existing eight specialized music subjects. Fourth, the absolute majority agreed to include career education in the professional music curriculum. It seems to imply that the government or the academic circles should urgently prepare and provide standardized career education manuals for music subject. Fifth, the most widely agreed educational objective that the professional music curriculum of arts middle and high schools should pursue was to foster intellectuals with broad musical horizons. Given the findings of the study, there are some suggestions on professional music education in arts middle and high schools: First, current practice-centered specialized music subjects should remain unchanged, and it's additionally required to strike a balance between these subjects and general subjects. Second, how to offer world-class professional music education should carefully be devised instead of merely providing uniform professional music education just for the sake of college admission. Research efforts should be directed into foreign professional music education to model after it and develop more diverse subjects. Third, in which way career education for music subject can be improved should discreetly be considered. In addition to competent music performers, another type of competent people who can work in diverse fields of music and in a field requiring creative capabilities should be nurtured, and nationwide efforts are required to make it happen. So far, how to accelerate the improvement of professional music education was discussed in this study. The efforts by this study to investigate awareness of the music curriculums of arts middle and high schools and satisfaction level with specialized music subjects was not merely meant to find out about any possible problems with the operation of arts middle and high schools but to provide useful information on the development of better music curriculums for these schools and the development of more diverse specialized music subjects. As a matter of fact, culture and arts are the barometer of national power in modern society, and this study is expected to lay the foundation for education of outstanding individuals with great talent for music.
