한국 아이돌 팬픽의 서사 연구

Abstract

한국 아이돌 팬덤은 적극적인 2차 창작물의 생산과 소비를 중심으로 하여 전 세계적으로 확장된 한류 3기의 중심에 있는 K-pop 문화를 이끌어왔다. K-pop 문화는 팬 모두가 적극적인 수용자를 넘어서 창조적이고 주체적으로 생동하는 분위기 때문에 사랑받고 있는데, 이러한 문화를 가능케 한 한국 아이돌 팬덤의 창발적인 역동성이 무엇인지 밝혀질 필요가 있다. 국외에서 팬픽션(fanfiction)과 팬픽(fanfic)이 구분되어 사용되지 않는데 반해, 국내에서는 철저히 구분된다. 국내에서 팬픽션은 영국드라마, 미국드라마 등의 국내 팬덤에서 생성한 2차 창작물을 가리킨다. 이때 팬픽션은 구체적인 인물, 사건, 배경을 가진 서사체를 원전으로 삼는다. 이와 달리 팬픽은 국내에서 팬픽션 문화가 발생하기 이전에 형성되었던 아이돌 팬덤을 중심으로 발생한 2차 창작물을 가리킨다. 한국 아이돌 팬픽은 서사체가 아닌 인물이라는 표상만을 팬덤의 대상으로 삼고 있음에도 불구하고, 인물을 서사체 속의 인물로서 소비하고자 하는 팬덤의 욕망으로부터 생산되고 소비된다. 팬픽을 생산하고 소비하는 문화에서 주류를 이루는 것은 동성애 팬픽, 그 중에서도 남성과 남성간의 관계를 대상으로 하는 동성애 팬픽이다. 특히 한국 아이돌 팬픽은 팬픽션과 달리 해당 아이돌 그룹의 멤버로 이루어진 두 주요 인물간의 연애 과정을 서사 내에서 다루지 않으면 팬픽으로 받아들여지지 않는다는 점에서 결연 서사구조를 가진 이야기로 볼 수 있다. 기존의 논의에서는 아이돌 팬픽을 생산하고 소비하는 팬이 여성 청소년이었기 때문에 아이돌 팬픽이 동성애 서사로 나타나게 되었다고 보았다. 본 논문은 향유하는 대상의 특성 때문에 동성애 서사가 한국 아이돌 팬픽의 주류 서사가 되었다는 관점에서 벗어나, 한국 아이돌 팬픽에 나타나는 서사 자체에 주목하고자 한다. 아이돌 팬픽 서사가 보여주고자 하는 주제의식이 있고, 이에 따라 팬픽 서사 기저에 의미체계가 존재하고 있기 때문에 동성애 서사가 주류 서사로 나타난다고 본 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 한국 아이돌 팬픽의 서사를 남성 인물과 남성 인물 간의 결연 서사로 보고, 기존의 한국 연애소설의 결연 서사구조를 근거로 하여 아이돌 팬픽의 결연 서사구조를 밝히고자 하였다. 더 나아가 아이돌 팬픽의 결연 서사가 담고 있는 의미체계를 밝히고, 아이돌 팬픽의 결연 서사를 유형화하여 아이돌 팬픽에서 동성애가 다뤄지는 방식을 주제의식 측면에서 고찰하고자 하였다. 구체적인 텍스트 분석을 위해 본 논문은 우선 한국 아이돌 팬픽을 내용적인 측면과 형식적인 측면에서 분류하였다. 이 과정에서 예술 작품으로서 텍스트 분석할 가치가 있는 명작 팬픽들을 구분하기 위해 버질 올드리치의 미학적 인식론을 바탕으로 연구 대상에 적합한 팬픽의 종류로 단편, 중편, 장편으로 분류될 수 있는 완결성을 지닌 픽션 팬픽(fiction fanfic)을 선정하였다. 픽션 팬픽은 아이돌 가수라는 실제 인물을 빌려와, 작가가 자신이 말하고자 하는 주제를 내용과 형식의 측면에서 온전하게 구현해낸 서사체라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 실제 연구 대상으로 가장 대표성 있는 아이돌 그룹 신화의 팬 카페의 선정을 참고하여 신화의 명작 팬픽 여섯 편을 선정하였다. 2장에서는 구체적인 텍스트 분석에 앞서 한국 아이돌 팬픽의 발생과정과 특성을 살펴보아, 동성애 서사가 아이돌 팬픽의 주류 서사가 된 기저를 밝혔다. 팬덤 문화가 발달함에 따라 자연스럽게 아이돌 그룹의 한 멤버에 대한 개인 팬보다는 그룹 전체에 대한 팬이 올바른 팬의 형태로 지향되었고 이와 더불어 한 명의 멤버에게서 시작하였던 애착을 확장시키고 계속해서 유지하기 위해 그룹 내 멤버들 간의 유의미한 관계성을 발견하여 이를 사건성으로 해석하는 행위가 중요해졌다. 그 결과 동성 팬픽이 한국 아이돌 팬픽의 대표성을 획득하게 되었다. 3장에서는 아이돌 동성애 팬픽의 결연 서사구조를 한국 연애서사의 결연 서사구조와 비교, 대조하여 밝혀냈다. 한국 아이돌 팬픽은 이항 대립적 인물 간의 결합으로 나타나기 때문에 인식 단계가 비약적으로 연장된다. 연장된 인식의 단계에는 구애 과정이 포함되게 된다. 또한 동성애 팬픽에서 결합은 공의 승인을 받은 육체적 성 행위를 통해서만 이루어질 수 있기 때문에 결연 단계가 제거되고, 기약 단계가 연장되어 장애, 극복, 결합의 단계를 포함한다. 4장에서는 결연 서사구조의 단계의 특성에 따라 동성애 팬픽을 세 가지 유형으로 분류하였다. 장애 단계에서 여성 연적이 등장하여 이성애라는 사랑이 가질 수 있는 가치와 동성애가 가질 수 있는 가치를 비교시킨다. 이러한 비교에서 동성애는 언제나 승리를 거두고, 이를 통해 순수성을 획득한다. 결연 서사구조에 성장 서사의 구조가 결합하여 나타나는 자기 성찰형 동성애 팬픽은 동성애 연애를 하는 과정에서 자연스럽게 분리, 전이, 결합으로 연결되는 성장 서사가 구현된다. 이 유형의 동성애 팬픽에서 연애 과정을 통해 인물들은 통과의례를 달성한다. 마지막으로 결연 서사구조의 마지막 단계인 결합을 실패하여 극단적 선택이 나타나는 결합 실패형 동성애 팬픽이 있다. 이 유형의 팬픽은 다른 팬픽과 달리 한 명의 인물의 시점을 강화하여 이야기를 진행하는데, 이 인물은 결말 부분에서 자기 운명에 대한 운명론적 자살로서 살인을 선택하게 된다.;Korean Fandom of Idol Singer Group is receiving attention as an core motivation of the third Korean Wave. Many studies said that the enduring appeal of K-pop is an emergent atmosphere of Korean Fandom of Idol Singer Group. In abroad the concept of Fanfic is short for Fan-fiction. But in Korea, the concept of Fanfic and Fan-fiction are distinct clearly. In Korea, Fan-fiction means that derivative works which made by such as English dramas or American dramas’ fans. They are derivative of complete narratives which have definite characters, events, temporal and spatial backgrounds. Narrative of Homosexuality is the mainstream of Fanfics in Korean Fandom of Idol Singer Boy Group. Especially the homosexual love between male character and male one is the majority narrative of Korean Idol Fanfic. In Fan-fiction culture, fans accept the fiction which not included the narration of forming a relationship between man and woman or relationship between man and man or relationship between woman and woman. But in Korean Idol Fanfic culture, fans accept only the texts which include the narration of forming a sexual relationship between members of Idol Singer Boy Group. In this regard, the Korean Idol Fanfic must have the tale of forming a matching relationship. On prior research, the reason why narrative of homosexuality is the main contents of Korean Idol Fanfic is fans’ gender and age. But this study wish to reveal the reason why narrative of homosexuality is the main contents of Korean Idol Fanfic by textual analysis. The focus of this study is the narrative of Korean idol fanfics and system of meaning which exist in the basis of fanfics. And then this study draw the thematic consciousness of fanfics by dividing the types of fanfics’ narrative and describing aspects of reappearance of homosexual love. For a detailed textual analysis, this study classified Korean idol fanfic in terms of its form and content. In this process, based on aesthetic epistemology of Virgil Aldrich, this study tried to distinguish which fanfic is valuable to analyze and selected complete fiction fanfic as study object which can be classified as short, novella, and full-length story. In fiction fanfic, the author takes real person as character, and tris to materialize his subject as a complete story in terms of content and form. This paper selected six masterpieces of Shinwha fanfics, referring to the most representative data of fan cafe of idol group Shinwha. In chapter 2, before analyzing particular texts, this study looked into the process and characteristic of Korean idol fanfic. Based on this, this study revealed the history of how homosexual narrative could become the mainstream in idol fanfic. As fandom culture developed, the fan toward the whole group rather than individual member became as a correct form of fan. So the fan extended the attachment for one member into a significant relationship among members. As a result, homosexual narrative became a representative as Korean idol fanfic. Chapter 3 reveals the narration of firming between man and woman of idol fanfic comparing to Korean narrative of love. Korean idol fanfic shows a association between binary oppositional characters as a dramatically extended recognition phase. This phase includes process if trying to win someone’s love. In addition, the combination of two people in homosexual narrative can be made only by physical sex under approve of ‘gong’. Therefore the step of match is removed, the step of promise is extended, and it includes the steps of obstacles, overcome, coupling. In chapter 4, this study divides the narratives of fanfics as three different types by using the characteristics of stages of narration of forming a relationship between man and man. First, the type of woman as the rival in love tells the victory of homosexual love over heterosexual love. Second, the type of self-examination fanfics are story about main characters’ narrative of growth. Third, the type of fail of coupling fanfics show a fatalistic suicide as the unreasonable result of original sin. This study’s premise is the fact that the Korean Idol Fanfic is the qualitative text which can be the case of text analysis. However, this study takes only six fanfics of Shinhwa as objects of study. This study needs to be made up for quantitative study and take more objects of fanfics.
