만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 효과적인 운영에 관한 실행 연구

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to explore and implement plans to effectively run participation to community for five-year-olds and investigate the responses of children and teachers to their operation. For those purposes, the following research questions were set. 1. What are the plans to run effective participation to community for five-year-old children? 2. What are the response oriented by children and teacher in process of effective participation to community? This research was executed at class of five-year-olds in "Haneul" private kindergarten in Seoul. The subjects were twenty-eight children who were five-year-olds in the class of "Gureum". To set up plans to effectively run participation to community, the researcher analyzed problems of previous activities given to her own class in 2011 and 2012. This research has been carried out from 14th of January until 25th of October in 2013 and activities of participation on community were executed. Research followed the order of recognizing problem, searching for solution, implementing the first round of solutions, and assessing them, implementing the second round of solutions, and assessing the first and second implementation. The investigator administered educational activities, recorded and transcribed them, and wrote a field note. The process of activities and interaction between teacher and children were collected by note, recorder and camera. A field note was based on these data. In addition, daily plan for class, journal, and photographs were arranged and analyzed. The conclusions of this research are as follow. First, according to analyzing problems of activities had performed by researcher, the activities were disproportionate to daily life subjects and more than half of activities were executed at classroom. Moreover, activities shared with resident were scarcity. Therefore, researcher plan and executed first implement to solve problem of participation on community. In first implement, researcher devises and executes a plan of cultivating rooftop garden so that children utilize diverse resource of community. In addition, as a place to education, research used community where were out of classroom. This procedure took community into classroom. Through communication with community resident, the whole process was shared with them. After the first implementation, a need was raised to carry out involvement related with public institution in community. In addition, opportunity of children to take part in improvement of community environment was needed. By reflecting the assessment results of the first implementation, the second implement conducted plan of involvement related with public institution in community. As a result, children could understand a necessity of public institutes and organization which helped children to solve problems. Also, researcher carried out ‘A tree-lined street which we made’ for children to solve community problem with a sense of ownership. Children could participate in this activity as a subject. Community members, such as children, parents and residents worked together to achieve a common goal, renaissance of tree-lined road. In conclusion, the achievements by effective running activities of participation in community are as follows. First of all, children played a role of active community residents so as to promote sustainable community. In addition, pro-social behavior was increased and geographical concept was developed. Moreover, teacher had a new understanding of space where in instruction took place. Moreover, teacher recognized teacher as a member of community and became confident with methodology of participation on community. This research raises a need of involvement to community for five-year-olds and guides a way to run of it. I hope this research help teacher to run activity of involvement to community.;본 연구는 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동을 효과적으로 운영하기 위한 방안을 모색하여 실행하고, 실행 과정을 통해 유아와 교사의 반응을 살펴보는데 의의가 있다. 연구 목적에 따라 설정한 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 효과적인 운영 방안은 무엇인가? 2. 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 효과적인 운영에 따른 유아, 교사의 반응은 어떠한가? 본 연구는 서울특별시에 소재한 사립유치원인 하늘유치원 만 5세 학급에서 실행되었다. 구체적인 연구 대상은 만 5세 구름반 유아 28명이다. 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 효과적인 운영 방안을 수립하고자 지난 2011년, 2012년 간 연구자가 실행한 지역사회 참여 활동에 대해 점검하고, 문제점을 분석하였다. 연구 기간은 2013년 1월 14일부터 10월 25일까지이며, 지역사회와의 소통을 통한 지역사회 참여 활동을 실행했다. 연구는 만 5세 지역사회 참여 활동에 대한 문제점 인식 및 이에 따른 해결 방안 모색, 1차 실행 및 평가, 2차 실행, 1·2차 실행 평가 순으로 실시되었다. 교육활동은 구름반 담임교사인 본 연구자가 실행했으며, 이를 녹화 및 전사한 자료를 기초로 하여 현장노트를 작성했다. 이외에도 일일교육계획안, 연구자 저널, 사진 자료 등을 수집하여 범주화, 부호화하여 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 효과적 운영을 위해 2년간 연구자가 실행한 지역사회 참여 활동을 분석하여 문제점을 파악한 결과, 생활주제별로 지역사회 참여 활동의 편차가 컸으며, 활동 절반 이상이 교실에서 이루어졌다. 또한 지역사회 주민들과 공유하는 활동이 부족함을 알게 되었다. 이에 연구자는 지역사회 참여 활동의 문제를 해결하고자 문헌 고찰에 기초하여 1차 실행을 계획, 실시하였다. 1차 실행에서는 유아들의 관심과 흥미를 반영하여 옥상 텃밭 가꾸기 활동을 선정하였다. 연구자는 유아들이 옥상 텃밭 가꾸기 활동을 통해 지역사회의 다양한 자원을 활용할 수 있도록 활동을 고안하고 실시하였다. 또한 교실이라는 제한된 공간에서 벗어나 지역사회를 유아의 교육 공간을 활용하였다. 이를 통해 유아들은 지역사회를 교실 안으로 끌어들일 수 있었다. 이러한 지역사회 참여 활동은 지역사회 주민들과의 상호작용을 통해 공유되었다. 1차 실행 결과 지역사회의 공공기관 및 단체와 연계한 지역사회 참여 활동을 실시할 필요성이 제기되었다. 또한 지역사회 환경을 위해 유아들이 참여를 통해 기여할 수 있는 기회가 필요했다. 2차 실행에서는 1차 평가를 반영하여 공공기관 및 단체와 연계한 지역사회 참여 활동을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 유아들은 공공기관 및 단체의 필요성을 이해할 수 있었으며, 공공기관 및 단체를 통해 지역사회의 문제를 해결할 수 있었다. 또한 연구자는 유아들이 지역사회에 대해서 주인의식을 가지고 지역사회 문제를 슷로 해결하기 위해서 ‘우리가 만드는 가로수길’이라는 활동을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 유아들은 지역사회의 주체자로서 활동에 참여할 수 있었다. 이 활동은 유아, 부모 및 지역사회 주민 등 지역사회를 구성하는 주민들이 가로수길 살리기라는 공동의 목표를 가지고 실시한 활동이었다. 이러한 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 효과적인 운영을 통해 유아는 능동적인 지역사회 주민 역할을 수행하여 지속가능한 지역사회를 도모하였다. 또한 지리적 공간 개념 발달 및 친사회적 행동을 증진시킬 수 있었다. 또한 교사는 수업 공간을 재인식하는 기회를 가지게 되었으며, 지역사회 주민으로서 교사의 역할을 인지하고, 지역사회 참여 활동의 교수방법에 자신감을 가지게 되었다. 본 연구는 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 필요성을 제기하였으며, 만 5세 유아를 위한 지역사회 참여 활동의 운영 방안을 제시했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 본 연구가 유아교육 현장의 교사에게 지역사회 참여 활동을 효과적으로 운영하는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
