Abstract
Death is common. However, humans are oblivious to their own deaths, unable to be experienced. We can only see and hear of abundant deaths of others from our own perspectives. Death is an existential state that causes not a limitation but rather a ‘thrown away’ state. Death is the most closely linked temporary event to the survival of each individual that can never be replaced by others. Yet, we speak of it as if we are not a part of it. True nature cannot be guessed nor prepared for and what follows after the absence of existence is unclear. Therefore, to a human being, death is a fundamental ‘anxiety’ that agitates the existence. However, self-awareness of these finitude not only makes ourselves look at this world and ourselves with greater fondness and grants meaning to our lives to make life worthy but also makes us become aware of our existence of remaining in familiarity and forgetting the existence as well as repeating meaningless daily lives. This study modeled the objects associated with death as motives and visualized them to face up to the ‘anxiety’ of death, postponed due to our ignorance, withdraw to our inner selves to observe ourselves as a pure subject. The ‘moment’ of breaking away from the fixed time just fleeting by pointlessly is possible not by the meaningless unity or unicity that of the uniformly flowing time but only by watching and carefully capturing the inner time. These sensible collisions that embrace both life and death are exposed through withering of flowers blossomed by the sound of hammering, point of collision between the endless nailing sound like Sisyphe’s punishment and text, referred to as the life’s purpose and death, noisiness of life lived by each individual way, sight of breath detained by a nail diminishing and arising again, at the time of an unaware clock’s second hand pointing at me, existence of the mirror reflecting myself and the space-there- between the fallen chair and the standing chair, through harmony and dissonance led by heart waves. Through these expressions, this study aimed to provide a prospect that enables us to hear “My intrinsic echoes” immediately within the soundless life’s screams. The ‘moment’ of piercing through the daily life’s conventional fence and asking the meaning of the difference between daily repetitions are truly the answer to breaking the meaningless silence of everyday life. These ‘moments’ will govern the time momentarily then be buried in everyday life again, but an authentic time to meet an undistorted ‘self’ is thrown out there, therefore the hope is to blow warmth and heat into the current existence of enduring an inauthentic time.
