현대한국창작춤에 나타난 무속적 성향 분석 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 무속이 현대한국창작춤에 나타난 성향에 관한 분석 연구를 통해 현대한국창작춤의 미적 특성을 규명하고 나아가 무속 수용으로 인한 현대한국창작춤의 특성을 파악하고 그 성과를 제시하고자 하는 목적에서 시작되었다. 60년대 이후 사회 전반적인 분위기였던 한국학이 대두되면서 전통에 대한 관심이 깊어가는 시대의 흐름 속에서 신무용의 모순을 발견, '전통의 창작화'를 추구하면서 70년대 중반부터 서서히 시작되어져 80년대에 그 활동이 더욱 활발해진 '현대한국창작춤'의 태동이 시작되었다. 그 발전과정에서 한국의 무속이념이나 표현방법 등은 매우 중요한 주제, 소재로 수용되어졌다. 이러한 80년대의 문화적 기반위에 성장한 현대한국창작춤은 90년대 들어서 2000년대 현재까지도 무속의 각 요소들은 현대한국창작춤에 있어서 꾸준히 그 성향을 나타내고 있다. 따라서 현대한국창작춤의 발전과정에 있어서 무속과의 관계를 알아보는 것은 매우 중요한 과제이다. 이에 현대한국창작춤에 나타난 무속의 연구는 이러한 무속을 기반으로 한 창작 작품 간의 관계를 더욱 효과적으로 풀어나가고자 제시된 하나의 방법이기도 하다. 그래서 본 연구는 무속의 제의적인 특성이나 여러 특성들을 바탕으로 그것이 현대한국창작춤에 어떠한 성향을 미치는가를 규명함으로써 본 연구의 목적인 현대한국창작춤에 나타난 무속적 성향을 파악하고 이에 따른 그 특성과 나아가 성과를 제시하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 본 연구는 문헌적 연구를 적용하였다. 그 결과 무속에 대한 기본적인 이해를 위해 개념정립과 한국창작춤의 흐름에 있어서 무속이 어떠한 방향으로 그 성향을 나타내었는지 개괄적으로 파악하였다. 또한 현대한국창작춤에 나타난 무속적 성향을 김영희의 「달아」와 국수호의「티벳의 하늘」작품 중심으로 주제 및 내용적 측면, 움직임 측면, 시각 및 청각적 측면으로 분석한 결과 작품 안에 무속적 성향이 표현적인 성향, 상징적인 성향으로 나타난 것을 파악하였다. 이러한 작품에서 연구된 무속적 성향으로 인해 본 연구의 결과는 크게 3가지로 나타났는데 현대한국창작춤에 무속적 성향에 의해 첫째, '우리 것'으로 인한 현대화와 둘째, 무속의 주체적 수용으로 인하여 안무자가 창작 작품을 안무함에 있어서 자신만의 예술적 스타일 구축으로 무속이 현대한국창작춤에 나타난 긍정적 성과를 규명하고, 마지막으로 무속수용으로 인한 창조적 재현으로 21세기로 나아가는 현대한국창작춤이 지금의 자리에 머무르지 않고 더 발전적인 모습으로 거듭날 것이다.

;This paper examines the aesthetic characteristics that appear in the Korean contemporary creative dance (KCCD) by studying its trends. The goal of this paper is first to examine the consequential achievements of KCCD coming from the embracement of shamanism, and then to present a direction of its future growth. In 1960s' society, Korean Studies appeared as a mainstream. The interests in Korean culture deepened as a result. An inconsistency in the modern dance was found and 'creating the tradition' was pursued. The first developmental stage of KCCD emerged in the 70s and it had a high increase in the 80s in its activities. In the process of its development, doctrines of shamanism and how shamanism is represented, were accepted as significant subject matters. On this cultural basis of the 80s, the second stage of the modern dance developed. Since 1995, each element of shamanism has been embraced in KCCD and it still plays an important role. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the relations between the development of KCCD and shamanism. The study about the influence of shamanism on KCCD is also a method of defining the correlations of the creative dance works that are based on shamanism. This paper is about how the various characteristics of shamanism, including the ritual inclinations, is represented in KCCD. Our intention is to reach the goal of this paper, which is examining the achievements caused by KCCD's embracing shamanism, and presenting a direction of its future growth. In chapter I, the goal of this study and its method is presented. In chapter II, the concept of shamanism is defined for basic understanding, and how it influenced the trends of the KCCD is summarized. In chapter III, some shamanistic creative works are analyzed using the theoretical backgrounds in above chapters. The analysis is done to bisect the shamanistic inclinations into the presentational aspect and the symbolizational aspect, in the perspective of subject material, movement, and audio-visualization. Besides, the positive influence of shamanism on KCCD was mentioned in this chapter. In chapter IV, we concluded the achievements caused by accepting shamanism in KCCD from two different angles. One of the two is the modernization of the Korean creative dance influenced by Korean culture and the other is the unique patternization of creative choreographies by the independent acceptance of shamanism. A developmental direction of the creative revival about accepting shamanism is also presented in chapter IV.
