한지 꼴라쥬기법에 의한 패션일러스트레이션 연구

Abstract

The advance in culture and economy has fueled the growth of fashion industry. Fashion illustration, which has developed along with that industry, is no longer a mere means to supply fashion information but a sort of formative action to link individual people and society and create living culture. As its scope is expanding thanks to its multiple functions and a wide variety of techniques and materials available, that is emerging as one of the crucial, highly sophisticated fashion areas. The purpose of this study was to collage Korean paper having Korean overtone in an effort to create a unique, visually and tactilely harmonized composition of materials in fashion illustration and successfully convey the complex image of modern fashion. The use of conventional Korean paper is expected to enlarge fashion illustration areas, and the value of our cultural heritage will be ascertained. And it's additionally meant to ralse awareness oil the importance of artistic intuition about fashion, to heighten the creative and artistic worth of modern fashion and to delve into decorative fashion illustration. After flower design was selected from among rice-cake patterns in the Joseon Dynasty, it's attempted to apply that in a modern sense to producea work of fashion illustration. This study was conducted in the following procedures: First, the concept and history of fashion illustration were examined, and its modern functions and techniques were described. The mode of fashion illustration was divided into two: expression techniques and image expresslon. Second, regarding expression techniques, the concept and background of collage were investigated, and the concept and characteristics of paper were defined. Different types of modern works that took advantage of collage were presented to see whether it could be applicable to fashion illustration in a manner to put both modern and traditional beauty into that. Third, as for image expression, the concept, types and significance ofrice-cake patterns in the foseon Dynasty were examined to determine their plasticity and symbolicity. It's attempted to apply a rice-cake pattem to find out whether that could be used in different colors for a change. 10 fashion-illustration works were produced by using collage on Korean paper. The rice-cake pattern used in the Joseon Era only was utillzed, and computer program was used to comply the fashion of the day in the Information Age, which people are familiar with, and collage was employed to highlight the motif of the pattern and produce outstanding works. After applying collage to fashion illustration, the following conclusion was reached: First, computer-graphic programs, which are universalized in modern life, could serve as an artistic tool to take pictorial artisoy to another level, and they could enable modern people to better poroay native Korean image. Second, the applicability of collage is limitless, as it could be used in not only painting but illustration, fiber art, modern art and fashion. In fashion illustration, it's proven that there are huge possibilities to harness that technique in various ways. Third, the use of collage on Korean paper made it possible to put Korean image into fashion-illustration works, generate more sensual and artistic fashion image, make the materials look natural, and eventually intensify the artistry of the works. Fourth, traditional rice-cake patterns are not mere historical relics but precious cultural heritage whose simple shapes and aesthetic features could enrich modern art beauty and provide new design motif. By this research, collage using Korean paper that is a typical material to represent national aesthetic consciousness could generate peculiar visual and tactile images, and that could also make a stable and familiar Impression. Its unique worth is uncomparable. ;현대사회는 문화 경제의 성장에 따라 패션산업도 발전을 거듭하였다. 이로인해 파생되어 성장, 발전해 온 패션일러스트레이션은 단순히 패션에 관한 정보를 제공한다는 측면을 넘어 이제는 패션을 통해 개인과 사회, 문화를 연결시켜주는 가교역할을 수행하는 조형 행위이며 생활문화의 창조행위로 확대되고 있다. 또한 패션 일러스트레이션은 표현재료와 기법의 다양함, 그리고 다각적 기능으로 영역의 확대가 이루어지면서 패션의 중요한 표현기능을 지니는 분야로 고도의 전문성을 띠며 발전하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 패션일러스트레이션에 있어서 독특한 표면 재질 효과를 통한 현대 패션의 복합적인 이미지 전달을 위하여 우리나라의 고유의 미의식과 민족의 정서가 담긴 한지로 꼴라쥬기법을 사용하여 시각적, 촉각적 질감을 동시에 조화시키고자 하며, 나아가 전통적 이미지가 반영된 한지를 이용함으로 패션일러스트레이션의 표현영역을 확대하고 고유의 가치를 확인하고자 한다. 이로써 현대인의 의상에 대한 예술적 직감력의 중요성을 고취시킴과 동시에 현대 패션의 이미지를 창조적으로 표현함으로써 예술적 가치를 높이고, 장식목적의 패션일러스트레이션의 연구라는데 의의를 둔다. 이를 위하여 조선시대 떡살의 문양중 꽃문양을 모티브로 현대적 감각으로 응용하고 조형적으로 분석하여 패션일러스트레이션으로 표현하고자 하며 작품제작을 위한 연구의 절차는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본문의 이론적 고찰에서는 패션일러스트레이션의 개념과 역사를 시대의 변천과정에 따라 살펴보고, 패션일러스트레이션의 기능과 표현기법을 현대 작품을 중심으로 기술하면서 표현기법과 이미지 표현의 양측면으로 분류하였다. 둘째, 표현기법 측면에서 꼴라쥬기법의 개념과 발생배경을 조사하고 한지를 꼴라쥬에 이용됨에 있어서, 한지의 개념과 특성을 살펴보았으며 꼴라쥬의 다양한 표현소재 및 기법에 의한 현대의 다양한 작품 사례 등을 제시하였다. 이로써 전통미를 발전시켜 현대적인 패션일러스트레이션으로 접근할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴본다. 셋째, 전통미의 이미지표현 측면에서는 조선시대 떡살문양을 사용하였으며 떡살문양의 이론적 고찰을 통해 개념과 종류를 알아보고 조선시대 떡살문양을 모티브로 사용하기 위해 떡살문양을 확대·응용하여 여러 가지 색으로 변화 줄 수 있는 다양한 표현의 가능성을 분석 연구한다. 이상과 같은 이론적 배경을 기초로 하여 한지를 이용한 꼴라쥬기법으로 패션 일러스트레이션작품 총 10점을 제작하였다. 떡살문양의 세부적 특징은 조선시대로 한정하며 방법적인 면에 있어서는 디지털 정보화 시대에 부응하여 대중에게 친숙한 언어인 컴퓨터 프로그램을 이용하여 일러스트레이션을 출력하고 그 작품 위에 한지로 꼴라쥬하여 각 작품마다 문양의 모티브를 부각시키고 완성도를 높이는 작품을 제작하였다. 본연구의 작품제작을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현대인들의 상용매체인 컴퓨터 그래픽 프로그램은 기계문명에 따른딱딱한 정서라기보다는 회화적이면서 예술성을 승화시킨 감각적인 도구로 사용되고 있으며 현대인들이 보다 쉽게 한국고유의 이미지 표현에 접근할 수 있는 매개임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 한지 꼴라쥬는 회화뿐 아니라 일러스트레이션, 섬유예술, 예술 의상 등 예술 분야의 재료에 대한 무한한 잠재성을 지니고 있는 표현기법으로 패션일러스트레이션에 있어서 다양한 표현의 개발 가능성을 지닌 기법임을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 한지로 꼴라쥬하여 제작한 작품들은 실제 의상의 소재와 한국적인 이미지가 자연스럽게 조화됨으로써 패션이미지를 감각적이고 예술적으로 전달할 수 있는 자연스러운 질감을 형성하여 한층 높은 예술성을 갖게된다는 사실을 알 수 있었다 넷째, 전통양식으로서의 떡살 문양은 전통으로 남아있는 과거의 유물이 아니라 문양의 단순성과 미적가치 특성에 의해 현대적인 조형미를 표현할 수 있는 새로운 디자인의 모티브를 제공해주는 귀중한 자료임을 확인하였다. 본연구를 통해 우리나라 미의식의 대표적인 표현체인 한지를 이용한 꼴라쥬는 그 재질감을 통해 시각적이고 촉각적인 부분과 함께 감성적인 안정과 친근감으로 그 무엇과 비교할 수 없는 고유의 가치를 확인할 수 있었다.
